NATIONAL BESTSELLER • An up-close portrait of the mind of an addict and a life unraveled by narcotics—a memoir of captivating urgency and surprising humor that puts a human face on the opioid crisis. “Raw, brutal, and shocking. Move over, Orange Is the New Black.”—Amy Dresner, author of My Fair JunkieWhen word got out that Tiffany Jenkins was withdrawing from opiates on the floor of a jail cell, … Jenkins was withdrawing from opiates on the floor of a jail cell, people in her town were shocked. Not because of the twenty felonies she’d committed, or the nature of her crimes, or even that she’d been captain of the high school cheerleading squad just a few years earlier, but because her boyfriend was a Deputy Sherriff, and his friends—their friends—were the ones who’d arrested her.
A raw and twisty page-turning memoir that reads like fiction, High Achiever spans Tiffany’s life as an active opioid addict, her 120 days in a Florida jail where every officer despised what she’d done to their brother in blue, and her eventual recovery. With heart-racing urgency and unflinching honesty, Jenkins takes you inside the grips of addiction and the desperate decisions it breeds. She is a born storyteller who lived an incredible story, from blackmail by an ex-boyfriend to a soul-shattering deal with a drug dealer, and her telling brims with suspense and unexpected wit. But the true surprise is her path to recovery. Tiffany breaks through the stigma and silence to offer hope and inspiration to anyone battling the disease—whether it’s a loved one or themselves.

Wonderfully frank true story about a woman’s struggle with drug addiction. Found it to be inspiring, funny at times, descriptive and completely honest. Her drug use from beginning until out of control. It’s a great read and would recommend this book to anyone but particularly to those that struggle with addiction!
This was one hell of a wild ride, and one I would absolutely love to take again! Off the bat Tiffany Jenkins sucked me into the consequences of her actions and took me on a journey through her experiences. High Achiever is crazy from start to finish, in the best way possible. I was incredibly inspired by the last few pages and I will absolutely admit I shed a tear or two of pride for her. If you’re thinking about reading this, do it.
Very thought provoking and moving.
A completely riveting and shocking story.
Very honestly written. Good outcome!
Language is terrible too much cussing using the F word !!!!!
Amazing! This book gave my daughter the perfect explanation of addiction when I couldn’t find the words to explain it to her completely. 6 years myself. I love this book!
This book is relatable. It made me feel less alone.
I loved this book for the real raw emotions that were put into writing it. I adore an author who puts them selfs out there and shares their life experiences.
In High Achiever, we follow Tiffany as she recounts her story of addiction and how she hit rock bottom. So much of being an addict is the manipulation of others, the sheer will to try to get what you need, through any means necessary. You see that so much in her writing, in her quest to hide her addiction, the stories she weaves to keep that high put her deeper and deeper.
I found Tiffany’s honesty refreshing. She didn’t hold back and her story ranged from sometimes funny to sometimes heartbreaking in her quest to stay high as she watched her life crumble around her. In those moments, you are right there with her struggling. She knows she’s screwing up and yet her brain is forcing her to keep on chasing.
She has a strong personality and it shines through in her writing. Tiffany is the type of person you don’t expect, but as we know, addiction can happen to anyone. She doesn’t hold back, and I think that put off a few readers who thought she was glorifying what she did when I see it as anything but. This was almost a one sit read for me, kudos on your sobriety!
