You were my first love. I hope you’ll be my last love too.
Alex Halford’s rock-star husband, Glenn, steals away in the middle of the night, leaving her with their two boys, a mountain of debt, and one person to turn to—his lifelong friend and band mate, David Callahan. David helps Alex pick up the pieces of her shattered life, happy to have any time with the woman he’s loved for seventeen years. … for seventeen years. Every moment with her is ripe with opportunity, and every last idea running through his mind would destroy his brotherly bond with Glenn.
Out from under Glenn’s thumb, Alex can see the person she was before marriage, finding feelings for David she thought she’d left behind in high school. A single kiss and the floodgates open, giving her new hopes of happiness. But when David and Glenn’s band has a chance to be back on top, David must convince Glenn to return. With every passing day, success comes closer, Glenn’s ego inflates, and David and Alex find it more difficult to hide. One misstep and the secret comes out, forcing David to choose between his life’s work and the woman he doesn’t want to leave behind.

A well written story with strong, well developed characters you”ll fall in love with. The author’s writing draws you in with the romance between the characters as she adds in the drama, the ups and downs and struggles that can come with real life romance. Highly recommend.

Sometimes the love you need is right in front of you
I loved this story of unrequited love that gets a chance! Alex is destroyed after her husband leaves her and their 2 children with just a note. What follows is Alex’s discovery of how to live again thanks to David. I really hope Karen continues the story of Alex and David as it was so good!
Ummm… wow. That book just took me on a whirlwind of a ride. Normally I won’t touch a story with even a hint of infidelity or a love triangle with a ten-foot pole. This story still managed to suck me in and pulled me under the emotional riptide before I was even aware it was happening. The author was able to get me past the not-so-great timing for the start of Alex and David’s relationship and get me to root for the success of it in the end. I thought the family dynamics portrayed here were frightfully accurate in terms of dealing with narcissists, teenagers, and special needs children

This was a pleasant surprise. A good story on a has been rock group making it good again. You always have that lead singer with the huge ego, Glen. His trodden down wife, Alex & the down earth band member, David. ( nice to have normal names for a change).
When her husband leaves her ‘to find himself’ Alexis is left with nothing, she & the kids stay with David. Unbeknownst to the other there’s a long time crush on the other. However their union could cause issues with the band reforming, having found fame again, thanks to David.
To entice the ‘rock god’ out of hiding David enlists the help of their manager. Let’s just say it’s a pity her didn’t stay away as Glen is portrayed as the biggest …….! I’ve ever read! Poor Alex what she endured with that heap of ….! I don’t know!
So David faces a dilemma. Alex or the group? I loved the solution to the situation & how fame didn’t tarnish him.
It was a lovely story of love fading, infidelity, the bearing it has on the kids & family & second chances. I couldn’t wait to see if Glen got his just desserts!
David & Alex rocked this tale & Glen sucked big time.

Solid 3.5 star
I liked Alex, you could get the torment and struggle with what to do about her future after her douche of a husband Glenn leaves a note then splits to destination unknown. David who grew up with both Alex and Glenn lets Alex and her 2 boys move in with him and then we start to learn of his long standing attraction to Alex. As Alex works through her feelings about her marriage her attraction to David starts to show and we see them try and work through how they feel about each other and what a future might look like but Glenn causes issues whether there or not. This was a good read but there were times where I felt things were a bit too drawn out, too much details gone into or unnecessary information, in saying that the story will draw you in and have you turning the page to see how things will end for everyone.

I enjoyed this book. It took a little while to get going and at times the inner dialogue was a bit much, but with characters like Alex and David you can’t help but be drawn into their world.
