Burton is one of my go-to authors for great romantic suspense/thriller reads. The stories are always engaging with down-to-earth likeable characters and strong storylines full of mystery, suspense and sprinkles of romance; along with connections to previous books – like this one. This is a compelling read you will not want to put down until you are through.
I loved Macy’s character; she was strong, resilient, determined, kind-hearted and dedicated to her job. I really enjoyed her working with Sheriff Nevada and their interaction throughout the story. There were plenty of tense, suspenseful moments as well as action, some light-hearted moments, and romance. I liked how Macy and Nevada were able to compartmentalize their work and personal relationships, with neither overshadowing the main plot of the book. I also enjoyed Deputy Brooke Bennett’s character and think it would be awesome if she had her own book. It seems like there is more than meets the eye with her and she would have an interesting story to tell.
*Many thanks to the publisher for the advanced copy of this read I received thru NetGalley.
Loved Loved Loved this book. To be fair I love anything Mary Burton writes and this was no different. There was rape, asphyxiation but I felt it was handled appropriately and was very much a part of the story, I read this in one day, I kept waffling on who I thought it was, I was so thrilled to read about Macy Crow. This appears to be the start of a new series , yay again! But if your a true Mary Burton fan you have met Macy before, so some of the story was known, but it had to be shared for a first time reader. This was a novel that had it all for me, mystery, thriller, suspense, romance, tragedy, joy and hope. Thank you Montlake, thank you NetGalley and thank you Mary Burton for sharing your wonderful talent with us all. .
I think this was the first time reading one of Mary Burton’s book that I was cringing. I enjoyed the book and the characters but I didn’t enjoy the retelling or description of the rape scene..But again that is my opinion. In ‘Hide and Seek’ we have the return of Macy Crow to her job where she works as a FBI rep since she had survived a hit and run. She is now trying to prove herself that she can be an agent, and back at work is the case of a missing teenager who has disappeared years ago. Then the suspense begins.
Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley)..Voluntarily reviewed with my own thoughts and opinions.
