Three-time RITA Award-winner and “queen of inspirational romantic suspense” (Library Journal) Irene Hannon doesn’t disappoint in this edge-of-your-seat thriller that will have readers up late as they rush toward the explosive conclusion.

Irene Hannon is one of my favorite romantic suspense novelists! Hidden Peril is another fine example of why I’ve been reading her stories for years.
Book 2 in the Code of Valor series, becomes a worldwide adventure as the products in Kristin Dane’s fair trade shop become sought after by more than gift oriented shoppers. People connected to the shop, one at a time; police detective Luke Carter is on the case and determined to solve it before more people die.
Before either Luke or Kristin know it, the FBI is involved as a ruthless killer continues his crime spree and Kristin becomes his next target.

INTENSE!
Hidden Peril (Code of Honor #2) is a perfect example of why Irene Hannon is an award winning author in the romantic suspense category. From the start, Hidden Peril will grab your attention and keep it to the last page. Hannon’s plot is on point and very believable. It could happen anytime in real life. Her background research is obvious as the many details of certain things are described. (I would explain more but I don’t want to include spoilers.) Her characters are realistic, believable and you would want them to be your friends. The villains are as evil as they come. An example of that is when main character Kristin Dane had this thought, “Until she found herself looking into the face of hell.” Her addition of romance is added at the right time and always done in a tasteful manner. I was provided an ARC of this book by the Publisher and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence. I have preordered a copy of this book for my own personal library.
I really enjoyed this page turner set in St. Louis. It was fun to see retirningvcharacters from other books.
I love Irene Hannon’s romantic suspense novels. She always has well developed characters who continue to grow throughout the course of the story. Hidden Peril is no different. A widower, Luke, meets an intriguing woman, Kristin, at a colleague’s wedding – a wedding he didn’t want to attend since his grief was still too close to the surface. Fast forward a couple of days and Kristin’s business is now the scene of a murder and the detective on the case is … Luke. Turns out this was more than a simple murder and the twists and turns in the story line kept coming, as did a growing relationship between Kristin and Luke, one complicated by his continued involvement in solving the crime. Ms. Hannon also routinely brings back characters from previous series, so I was nice to catch up with previous heroes. Hidden Peril is the second of three books starring close friends Colin (Dangerous Illusions), Kristin, and Rick. I’m looking forward to reading Rick’s book next year.
Loved this book, especially after about 1/4th into the book I could hardly put it down.
This was a FANTASTIC read. I loved the characters of Kristin and Luke and the mystery they are trying to solve was intriguing and definitely had some unusual elements which was cool. It flowed well and the romance angle with Luke and Kristin was sweet to watch. I especially liked the parts with Luke’s sister Becca. She was a fun character addition and a nice balance to Kristin’s best friends being guys. Looking forward to the last member of The Treehouse Gang’s story next fall!!

“Hidden Peril” was a real page-turner, and an extremely enjoyable reading experience. I highly recommend this book.

Another good book by Ms. Hannon. I can’t class this as an edge of your seat suspense book but it did have a good mystery. I will admit that I had figured out who was the bad guy as least half way through the book. I won’t say more about that because I don’t want to add any spoilers.
I really liked how her best friends were two guys. When the story opens she is best woman at one of their weddings. The guys are the family she never had as a child. When she is in trouble they are there for her immediately looking out for her. They also are ready to give Luke the “talk” about not hurting Kristin. Luke is still getting over his wife’s death three years ago to have any interest in another woman. Then he meets Kristin at the wedding. He can’t quit thinking about her. Then he is assigned the case of the murder in her shop. As the story unfolds, their feelings for each other evolve into something besides case related.
I would recommend this book to anyone who like mystery and romance.
I was given this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
Ms. Hannon does it again with another great romantic suspense novel! This is the second book in the Code of Honor series. This book focuses on Kristin (who owns her own unique business) and Luke (a police detective). After a crime occurs at her business, Luke is one of the investigators. What seems like a robbery gone wrong, quickly becomes a much bigger problem and has significant implementations. This book has many twists and turns, including international smuggling and more. As time progresses, Kristin and Luke discover they have more common interests. I thoroughly enjoy Ms. Hannon’s books especially the faith aspect. I highly recommend this book and the first book in the series! However, this book can be read as a stand-alone novel. If you enjoy reading Christian romantic suspense stories, this book is for you!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.
“A lot of people talked about helping those in need. Kristin Dane was doing it.”
That’s what made the crime so bizarre; a lovely fair trade shop smeared with the blood of a senseless murder. Kristin Dane is deeply heartbroken over the violent death of her part time clerk. The police want answers as well, and when they assign Detective Luke Carter to Kristin’s case, she is duly convinced that Luke will do his very best to seek justice. But when a second murder is committed with loose connections to Kristin’s merchandise, there is a sense that a much darker force could be involved. . . . . . for, “terrorists are not predictable”.
Join Luke and and Kristin as they fight against those seeking America’s demise, while their growing attraction for each other threatens to provide the spark that their enemy needs, to ignite its strategy into overdrive. This story has Irene Hannon’s legendary trademarks written all over it; admirers of romantic suspense will have a hard time putting it down!
“A remote monastery in the Middle East.
Murders of innocent people.
Mysterious candles.
A dead terrorist.
How did they all connect?”
Hannon neatly ties these elements together while writing an engaging and thrilling pulse-pounding suspense. For me, she’s one of those authors who I’ll follow anywhere she leads! Her books are on my automatic “must-read-now” category. That being said, this second book in her Code of Honor series was a much anticipated read, one I’ve waited a long time to get my hands on! She never disappoints and once I had this in hand, I settled in for the long haul. So reader be warned, you don’t want to put this down once you start!
If you’ve ever watched “The Monuments Men”, you’ll enjoy the nod towards the movie and their quest to preserve priceless art masterpieces from under the nose of the Nazis. In the books case, artifacts are being stolen and used for a much more sinister plot! Think ISIS, now isn’t that beyond scary? Kristin Dane is an innocent pawn in a terrorists scheme. Luke Carter along with his team must protect her as they try to catch the illusive men behind the plot. I had high blood pressure as I watched things unfolding and dizzy with all the twists & turns Hannon takes her readers on. The breath-stealing ending had my heart in my throat; what a way to wrap up another hair-raising suspense by one of the best authors out there. Whew, I still feel a bit discombobulated from the roller coaster of a ride! It may take a while to get my landlubbers feet under me; that tells me Hannon did her job as a writer. Talking about breath-stealing, the romance brewing between Kristin and Luke sizzles under the surface. You can physically feel the electricity between these two. Though for Luke, he’s the perfect gentleman playing it cool since much more is at stake than his heart. I think it was a great balance of suspense and romance, another thing I love about Hannon’s writing. She consistently delivers on all elements without overriding any of them. Lastly, character growth and spiritual theme are evident throughout. Both Kristin & Luke have family issues in their past they must overcome, and forgiveness plays a huge part in all of it. To sum it up: with gripping suspense, stirring inspirational moments, a frantic race to squash a sinister plot, and affairs of the heart, Hannon once again delivers. Don’t miss this exciting addition to a fantastic series!

I never miss an Irene Hannon book. She is a very good suspense author with spiritual themes. This latest book is number two in her Code of Honor series and delves into terrorist activity and how they fund their missions.
Her writing, as always, is impeccable, and her plots spot on in today’s world. Her characters are always very well developed. I especially enjoy how she layers her suspense right up until the end, guaranteeing her readers excitement in her books. Recommended.

Hidden Peril. by Irene Hannon
A light at the end of the hallway, drew the monk to turn it off. Khalil a refuge was toiling over the desk, saying he wanted to finish a task. Hearing a whiny noise, something didn’t seem right, so he offered to help. A workbench revealed, that a terrible mistake has been made. An evil deception had defiled this holy place.
Kristen got notice, of the death, through buying products from them for her WorldCraft business.. Had met Brother Michael, was an amazing experiment.
She now had a wedding to attend to. Luke also had to attend, Colin was a new associate, as detectives. Quick in and out, after three years, he still wasn’t in a party mood. Meeting Kristen was nice, but seems she is taken.
To meet her again when a co worker had been murdered, in her shop. The shop items and signs, showed him she was in deed helping others around the world. Another woman murder, she had just boughten items from the shop.
Was there a connection to these three deaths, items bought in that shouldn’t have. An easy flowing plot, with characters we have known. It has twists and turns, as we try to figure out what was happening. Her books are always rich with intrigue, and leave you wanting more. Given ARC. by Net Galley and Revell for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
This is the second book in the Code of Honor Series and as always Irene Hannon has delivered a wonderful Romantic Suspense. I enjoyed Kristin and Luke’s story. There are plenty of twists and turns as Luke tries to figure who wants Kristin dead, and why. Even though this is part of a series it may be read as a stand alone. I recommend getting the whole series. You will enjoy it I am sure.
I’ve come to love suspense especially with Irene Hannon at the wheel!
She’s a masterful storyteller that adds suspense, mystery twists and turns all rolled into one to keep you guessing until the last page! She had me stumped!!
This author can paint real life events and scenes to make us imagine that we are part of the plot that is going on in the book!! I like that!
I know I sure didn’t see two certain things coming! They caught me off guard and Irene knew just how to do that especially to new readers of this type of genre! Just wow!
I always say to Kristin’s problem don’t stick your nose into other people’s business if you don’t want yours known!
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me up all night to finish it!
If you haven’t read Irene Hannon you really should! You won’t regret it!
I strongly recommend this book.
My thanks to Netgalley for a review copy. NO compensations were received and all opinions are my own.
Good read
This is the second installment in Irene Hannon’s “Code of Honor” series and it does not disappoint. In classic form she has combined heart-stopping suspense with a sweet romance that has the reader on the edge of their seat and rooting for Kristin and Luke.
This book is full of twists and turns that keep you guessing. As tragedy strikes more than one person connected to Kristin’s fair trade shop will she become a victim?
When Luke is assigned to the case he has no idea that he’s about to see the woman who recently sparked his interest for the first time after losing his wife three years ago. Will he be able to keep her safe and can he keep it professional?
Although this book is part of a series it can be read as a stand-alone novel though I highly recommend reading all three books to get the story of each of the three friends who made vows as children to do good in the world. Book three will be coming soon. I can’t wait to read it.
This is Hannon’s second book in the series and she did not disappoint.
Classic Irene Hannon book! I enjoyed both the suspense and romance aspects of this book. I am not one for huge amounts of suspense that keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. On a rare occasion, I do enjoy that, but most often I prefer something that has the element of suspense without me being in a constant state of tension while I read. Ms. Hannon’s Hidden Peril had just the right amount of suspense and tension for my typical mood.
**I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
The second book in the Code of Honor series, Hidden Peril can easily be read as a stand-alone novel. In true Irene Hannon fashion, the story quickly jumps into action and takes its reader on a breath-taking and suspense-filled adventure. Kristin Dane finds herself and her fair trade shop at the center of more than one murder and has no idea why. Detective Luke Carter becomes involved in the case and is not only attracted to Kristin but determined to solve the case before more people die.
Once again I found myself immersed in Hannon’s brilliant plot as I attempted to discern the perpetrator behind the fatal plans. I had my suspicions which later proved to be correct but the many twists and turns of the plot had me second-guessing myself more than once. Hidden Peril lived up to my expectations and reaffirmed my love for this author’s novels. I look forward to the next book in this series.
