Three-time RITA Award-winner and “queen of inspirational romantic suspense” (Library Journal) Irene Hannon doesn’t disappoint in this edge-of-your-seat thriller that will have readers up late as they rush toward the explosive conclusion.

In this book, a shop keeper who tries her best to “help out the world” is inadvertently involved in a terrorist plot against St. Louis. Kristen is an interesting character and has a depth that is amazing. Her two best friends are two guys from high school. They play a very protective role in her life. The plot moves along nicely. You are given a hint at who the bad guy is, but you may not know the “how” or “why”. Luke is the detective who is assigned to her case before she even knows she is “a case”. Of course, they are drawn to each other and can’t wait for the case to be solved so they can explore a relationship. The ending may not be a surprise, but it is well played out.
I received an ARC from Net Galley for an honest review.
Finally! A suspense story that evenly balances the romance and suspense. I am all for the mystery/intrigue of a suspense story…but pleassseee give me a sweet love story to follow alongside it!
This story did not disappoint. Irene is one of my go-to suspense writers for this reason. I am a big historical fiction fan and don’t get suspense books often, but Irene always makes her way to my mailbox!
The plotline was realistic but kept me spinning well into the night as I fought sleep to finish it. Well worth the read, this book is easily picked up in the middle of a series. I did not read book one but did not have a problem following the story at all.

I give Hidden Peril by Irene Hannon…
5 stars!
As a huge of Christian fiction suspense, this one did not disappoint.
Kristin Dane has a shop that sells items from around the world and gives back to them. Included in the items are candles made by monks in Syria. Kristin is oblivious to the ISIS plot that involves her shop, and puts her life in danger.
When her assistant is killed behind the counter in the shop, and then, also, a local customer in her home, a connection is found with items sold n her shop–the candles from Syria. Kristin begins helping Detective Luke Carter, whom she had recently met at a wedding of one of her best friends.
To add a little spice to the story, a romantic interest begins to develop between Kristin and Luke.
Irene Hannon did a wonderful job (as always) weaving this story together. You won’t want to put it down.
I received a complimentary copy from Revell and Netgalley and was under no obligation to leave a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
