Ms. Gilmore spoke to my heart with Hidden Hollywood. The Happy Endings Book Club series begins on a high note with this energetic, playful and sincere bundle of feel good fun. An addiction to books and romance helped reel me in because any lover of books I would gladly befriend. Behind the glamour and wealth of big city lives, Claire and Jake have a simpleness on their minds. Matchmaking, a little slight of hand and let the masquerade begin. A person has to be made of stone to not find pleasure in the irresistible world that is Kylie Gilmore.
I enjoyed this book it was fun, exciting and sexy. Kylie Gilmore’s writing makes you really care about the characters and want to really get to know them. An A List movie star Claire Jordan wants to meet a normal Joe who wants her for her not for who she is. Jake Campbell wealthy CEO of a tech company is tired of all the fake women in his life and wants to meet someone different for once. One of Claire’s friends Hailey wants to set her up on a blind date, so when the blind date is going to happen Claire and Jake are going as different people. How well is the date going to go? What will happen when they find out their real Identity? I loved this book. I highly recommend this book.
Not my area of interest.
Interesting idea, but the characters kept annoying me. Plus, it was a quick read (which I often like), but story development suffered for me, as a result.
A fun book to read!
No time toread it, so Im returning it, thank you
it w.as a good book and a quick read, but not exactly what I’m used to reading.
A-list actress Claire Jordan has sworn off dating because of a history of bad relationships as well as to build buzz for the upcoming movie she’s directing and producing, based on a popular trilogy of romance novels. With almost no budget left for marketing, Claire hopes that rumors of a real-life romance with her co-star will be enough to drive ticket sales. However, Claire’s new friends from the book club she joined in order to research her movie role think she needs to get out and have some fun, so they convince her to go on a blind date disguised as “Jenny,” an average small-town girl. What none of them realize is that her date is also pretending to be someone else; instead of bartender Josh, Claire actually meets his identical twin, billionaire tech mogul Jake Campbell. They’re immediately drawn to each other and end up spending the night together, but their arrangement was only supposed to be for one fun date. Once their true identities are revealed, can Jake convince Claire that it’s worth taking a risk on a relationship with him?
I really enjoyed several aspects of this story, particularly Claire and Jake’s first meeting while paddleboarding, the fun relationship between Claire and her friends in the book club, and the behind-the-scenes glimpses into Claire’s life as a famous actress. The author did a good job of showing that, as much as Claire loved her job, she sometimes felt trapped by it too. She was constantly under pressure to be perfect because the media was watching, crazed fans had invaded her home or accosted her in public, and people she trusted had betrayed her by selling stories and private photos to tabloids. Given that history, it wasn’t surprising that trust became an issue in her relationship with Jake, especially when he was dealing with trust issues of his own.
Unfortunately, there were also quite a few things about the book that frustrated me. The biggest one was the relative lack of emotional development between Jake and Claire. They definitely had physical chemistry, but Claire’s thoughts about being “in love” with Jake after only a couple of dates (and almost immediately after a huge fight in which his true identity was finally revealed) seemed to come out of nowhere. On the subject of their mistaken identities, it irritated me that Jake not only waited so long to tell Claire the truth, he had the nerve to act like the injured party when he did the exact same thing as she did. I have to admit that I didn’t really like Jake much at all. Rather than listening to Claire and trying to understand her reasons for handling the press and her co-star the way she did, he completely ignored her and did whatever he wanted. It felt very disrespectful to me, like he didn’t truly care about Claire or her feelings at all.
Ultimately, even though I wasn’t completely sold on Claire and Jake’s romance, I would still recommend this book for romantic comedy fans. There were some cute and funny parts I enjoyed, and I suspect that fans of alpha heroes will like Jake a lot more than I did. I plan to continue with the series.

Great book
More a set up of the series than an actual stand alone. The various character sketches and the world are introduced. Claire is not realized and she could be such a good character. The overworked celebrity who is burned out gives a whole host of possibilities for interesting interactions. The CEO not so much cause it’s been done to death.
I didnt really think this book made much sense.
A new favorite author. Bought the next book in the series right away and enjoyed that on just as much. Love the writing! Well- developed characters.
Plot, though not original, is easy to follow with a few unexpected twists. Interesting and believable characters. I enjoyed the book immensely.
Hidden Hollywood gives us a peak at the life of a famous actress who longs to be normal again. Claire has joined a book club near her latest shoot to kill time and have some companionship. When she loosens up and expresses her desire to find true love, Jake appears before her eyes. Only she doesn’t know he’s also in disguise, playing his twin brother. Moral of the story is just be yourself and don’t hide behind someone else’s skirts. Ms Gilmore write a very thorough storyline with believable characters and give a hint of sexual desire to keep the reader’s interest. I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
Romantic story that is an easy read. Perfect vacation book.
Good idea I just got bored
It was an easy fast r ad. The characters were believable on that they were searching for an honest relationship in a dishonest situation.
Again the language used was unnecessary. I felt it was crude and harsh.
Happy ending!
