It had a good plot but it was kinda slow moving. I will read the rest in this series. Hopefully it will hold my interest as the story develops.
This is such a great book! I’m already on book 3 of this series and can’t wait to see the further development of the characters. The story line is very compelling and well written. Christy Barritt has quickly joined my favorite author list!
I really enjoyed this book, it was quick paced and kept me guessing until the end.
This whole series is great. I’m on book four and can’t wait for five and six to come out.
Great building of characters
“Everything is worse when faced alone.”
Undercover Detective Cady Matthews has often felt alone, being the only child of parents whose main focus has, and always will be, money and prestige. Unfortunately, Cady is quite alone in a deserted alley; her life hanging in the balance with the odds being in her enemy’s favor, save for her prowess with a ball and the hope that back-up will miraculously arrive in time to extract her from the wrath of a notorious West Coast gang leader.
Lantern Beach, North Carolina is a lovely place to serve solitary confinement and test a hidden identity. When Cady, now Cassidy Livingston, arrives to find that her temporary residency includes a garish pink ice cream truck and an annoying neighbor, she wonders just how long she can stand it. Then a body washes up on the beach, and Cassidy can’t help herself, her sense of justice takes over, quite possibly putting her life at risk once again.
A nicely constructed crime novel, which appears to be just the tip of the iceberg to come!
I love this first book in a new series by Christy Barritt! Cassidy is in hiding from dangerous thugs, on an island in North Carolina, trying to keep a low profile and not let people, especially her handsome neighbor Ty, know that she is a police detective. She drives around in a noisy ice cream truck, elling ice cream to tourists because the locals avoid her ice cream for some unknown reason! Before she is there long, a body turns up on the beach, the suspected killer’s wife is insisting he is innocent, and Cassidy just can’t stay away form it. Clues and suspects, playing less than the brilliant detective that she is, and misunderstandings with Ty all intertwine to keep you guessing until the end. Great start to a new series!
In this debut of the Lantern Beach mysteries, undercover Seattle detective Cady Matthews flees for her life to the shores of North Carolina, leaving her family, boyfriend and career behind. Reinventing herself in more ways than one, as Cassidy Livingston, hiding from threats and staying for from trouble may be the most difficult assignment yet. Former SEAL and neighbor, Ty Chambers, complicates matters with his questions and personal investigation of the first murder in decades on the idyllic island. The sequel, Flood Watch, cannot arrive soon enough.
Fan favorite Christy Barritt introduces readers to new faces and beaches in another clean suspense series.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
Join the queen of clean suspense, Christy Barritt, for an exciting new series. Detective Cady Matthews has to go into hiding to stay alive so she can testify against the notorious gang she infiltrated. The danger ramps up as the story unfolds. Her neighbor at her hideout at Lantern Beach, NC, frustrates her, as does the inept local police investigation of a murder. She can’t help but get tangled with trying to solve the crime as she drives an ice cream truck around town—her new persona. I enjoyed the characters and the plot. The novel leaves some loose ends, so it makes readers long for the next book. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this fast-paced suspense novel, especially the beach setting, which was very well-developed and visual somehow. Interesting characters, and the ice cream truck was a hilarious touch.
Cassidy, waiting for back up, thinking it was the end for her. A chance and she took it, to disable the leader. Now a bounty is on her head, new location, new name. Some things never change, will her curiosity win out, when murder happens where she is at. Meeting with Ty sets angry sparks when they first meet. For Ty he didn’t need that in his life. He chose this small quiet place so he wouldn’t have flash back from the war yet, fireworks happen each time he sees here. Another good story by the author.
This is a must read series. I am reading it for the second time. i love the main character, Cassidy. She is a strong, intelligent woman who finds herself in a difficult situation while doing her job as an undercover detective. She ends up in hiding on an island called Lantern Beach. She gets involved in a murder investigation and meets a handsome guy, Ty. This story is a must to read and will get you hooked on the series!
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my honest opinion. I really enjoyed this first book in the Lantern Beach Mysteries series. Christy did a great job as usual with the suspense in the plot of this book. It was easy to follow and keep me turning the pages. Her characters are diverse and believable.
Seems like she couldn’t stay out of trouble no matter how she tried. Sort of nosy too but I guess that makes a good detective.
This was like a trip to the beach in reading and storyline. Mystery, strange events and a Ice cream truck. Just enough humor and spunk to provide a fun escape.
Good read
This book has everything! Action packed, flows great, keeps the reader engaged. Christy Barritt is a great author. One of the best. She mixed mystery with a bit of romance without getting bogged down in the romance part.
Loved this series.
Great series!
Great set-up leads to an engaging story. Start of a series so ending could be better but they want you to read more.
A book you did not want to put down, about a Navy seal TY and a detective
Cody who has a bounty on her.
