Self-exiled to New York for the past two years, Nic Gaudet never planned to return to New Orleans. But with the mysterious death of an old man named Abel Delessard, a member of a family of Cajun witches who were his own family’s greatest enemies, it seems he has fallen under suspicion of murder. He’s been accused by none other than the man’s grandson—and Nic’s former lover—Thibeau Delessard. Nic … Nic is furious and travels to confront Thibeau and his family in an official capacity—Nic is a member of the Legislateurs, the governing body of all the magic practitioners in the Big Easy, both the living and the undead. What he doesn’t expect is for all his old feelings for Beau to come rushing back in the moment he sees him again.
Thibeau Delessard had an excellent and heartbreaking reason to break up with Nic two years earlier, but it hasn’t been anything he could tell him until now. Secrets and lies separate them now as they did in the past, but soon, they find themselves back in love and back in danger. Someone is trying his best to use magical spells and hexes to kill Thibeau. Evil pervades not only the French Quarter, but also the old Creole style house where the Delessard family lives. A web of plots is closing around Thibeau and his family, and if Nic can’t find a way through it—and defeat the warlock magic with his own–they’re all going to die. A cursed diamond, an evil book of spells and danger surrounds them on all sides in this city where the veil is thin between this world and the next, and most especially, after dark.

Loved it! Stayed up ’til 1 am finishing it.
Hexxed by author Shannon West starts off the Witches of the Big Easy series. This series is pretty good. I liked how it made me want more and gave me memorable characters too. Not my favorite Shannon West book but it is a good one non the less.
Dominic or Nic as everyone calls him, he and his brothers are the legislatures the governing body of the magic practitioners and supernatural beings in this part of the world. Big job but Nic can handle it.
Thibeau has a strong magnetic personality that can stand up to Nic’s really well I loved that. He is the person Nic can count on even if Nic doesn’t know it.
Both men are passionate, when that collides it gets very hot indeed. I loved that part of this story. I am looking forward to more, I want to know more about this world and those that live in it.
Five Shooting Stars
This book captured my attention from beginning to end. It had mystery, suspense, action and true love. Also, loved that the magic that was used was explained for us readers to understand without taken out of the story. It added to the story, making it even more interesting and creepy. And let’s not forget the hot make-up sex. Nic and Thibeau both have strong personalities and do not back down. Unless Thibeau wants to be controlled during the sexy/hot times. I really enjoyed this book and now quickly going to go read book 2.
What an interesting foray into the world of witches and New Orleans! Nic is a powerful witch and Beau is hiding something from him and his family. Nic wants to hold onto his grudges with Beau but he just can’t. Beau doesn’t want anyone to know what happened to him but Nic has a way of coaxing him into sharing pieces of himself. To complicate their developing relationship, an evil is trying to harm Beau.
I enjoyed the paranormal aspects of this and the bits and pieces of New Orleans. I also liked the byplay between Nic and Beau as it was hot and spicy. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
3.5 Stars
Hexxed is an enjoyable magical read that introduces us to the world of the witches and their hieracry in New Orleans. Mystery, murder and mayhem are the backstory to this second chance at love romance between two warlocks that are determined to fight the draw to each other…but love has a way of breaking down even the most powerful of boundaries.
While this is book one in the series, there is no cliffhanger. I look forward to reading the next installment!
This was a fairly quick and easy read, but it was full of love, hate, sex, violence, and evil. Thibeau and Dominic were finally back together after years apart, and they were explosive together. (The sex between these two was rough and passionate, and often BDSM-based, so readers should know that going in.) I found both men fascinating, and I can’t wait to see them grow as a powerful couple as the series continues.
I liked the idea of the Legislateurs, a group of powerful witches who policed the rest of their kind, and I loved that Nic was strong enough to be their leader. His treatment of Beau, once secrets were finally revealed, was sweet to see. Beau was quick-tempered and moody, and strong and unflappable Nic was the perfect match for him. I can’t wait to see more of this couple, as well as their families, as this very interesting series continues.
