Book two of NOLA Knights, the heart-stoppingly sexy spin-off series by Men of Haven author Rhenna Morgan As an avtoritet for the most powerful crime syndicate in New Orleans, Kir Vasilek doesn’t act without purpose, doesn’t speak without thought and never, ever loses his cool. The lives of his brothers, his family, depend on it. But then Cassie McClintock strolls back into his life, and … his life, and staying cool is next to impossible. Cassie was the one who got away–and Kir is willing to break all his own rules to keep it from happening ever again.
It’s one thing to report on the Russian mafia; it’s quite another to sleep with one of them, especially one as dangerous, and as sinfully sexy, as Kir Vasilek. Even though the information he once provided helped make her career–and the memory of his touch still keeps her up at night–Cassie knows too much about his world to go down that path.
But when Kir reaches out for help after a rival family comes for one of his own, Cassie doesn’t want to say no, either to investigating a gruesome murder or to the heat that pulls her right back into his arms…and his heart. Taming Kir–and helping to save the family she’s come to call her own–is not the story she thought she’d write, but it’s the one she’s determined will get a happy ending.

“It was bad enough that he had a way with words, but paired with his accent and the sexy rumble of his voice, physical foreplay was a bonus more than a necessity.”
I’m really enjoying the NOLA Knights, a sexy spin-off from the author’s Men of Haven series. Yes, those beloved characters do make an appearance from time-to-time and it makes my heart happy.
If you’ve made it to this 2nd book in the series, then you already know how talented the author is when it comes to writing bossy badass alphas who turn gentle when it comes to their women. Might as well go ahead and plan to melt into a puddle of goo when that happens, right? And it’s not weak women that make them soft. Nope, these are sweet, sassy and strong women.
Cassie is exactly that. She’s worked hard to advance in her career and it’s a daily battle to stay on top. She knows it’s a risk to help Kir, but she can’t deny he’s partly responsible for the success she’s seen as a reporter, so she feels like she owes him. She also can’t deny that he pushes all of her buttons and the risk to her girly bits is as high as the risk to her job.
Kir is sex in a suit with an accent that will make you squirm in your seat when he says vozlyublennaya (aka sweetheart)…sigh.
If you enjoy girl-time and entertaining banter, you will love the women as much as I do, guaranteed. I’m addicted to the ‘family by choice’ bond these characters have. It’s what we’d all like to have in our own lives and the author makes it possible through her amazing stories. I always dread turning that last page knowing it’s the end, but then I immediately start looking forward to the next opportunity to spend time with the characters that I’ve grown so attached to. The line forms here…
I’ve not read the first book, but I don’t think you need to worry too much.
Kir use to be a bodyguard for the Bratva, now he runs a crew of his own, but he’s not the boss, that title belongs to his brother Sergei “His to defend” although not blood brothers, they guard each other’s backs and love each other like brothers.
After watching Sergei fall for Evette, Kir longs for the same connection with a woman, but his past won’t allow that to happen (being sold into a Bratva as a young boy changed him) so Kir settles down to fact he will remain alone.
Cassie is a reporter but, she’s not really had a good story in a while. She needs a fresh story, but going back to a source she used before maybe difficult. But if she needs to stay at the top of her game, Cassie is going to have to swallow her pride and ask the one man she walked away from.
Almost from the moment they reconnect you can see that Kir wants Cassie on a permanent basis. Not just as help finding out who killed a member of his crew, but as a companion, maybe even more of a commitment!!! He makes plans to show her his world and his family.
Cassie really likes Kir, but she knows about his background and is very wary, but after meeting his “family”, she sees a different side to the Bratva and Kir. But there is her job to consider! Won’t people wonder how she got her stories? And will they assume they will favour Kir and his family?
But there is the murder to solve, and Cassie’s involvement may put her in the firing line! Is someone targeting her? Kir? Or the whole Bratva?
I liked this book, in fact I’m off to find the first book.
The sex isn’t too over the top, and there is isn’t too much either
The connection between Sergei and Kir got me wanting to find out more, and what made the boss man fall for Evette, and then there is Roman (another group leader) he’s as close to Sergei as Kir is (and rumour has it, that his book is next)
I’d recommend this book all day long. The plot flows really well. Characters are a delight to read about.
And doing research on the author I found a series in which a lot of characters that we meet in this book are from (so this in theory is a spin off series) but you don’t need to read it, it just gives you more info on the characters. But I think that’s another series to be added to my never standing TBR list
Rhenna Morgan is one of the most intelligent authors I know and I always look forward to the release of her latest book. She is a consummate researcher, focusing on the details that make her characters jump off the page and into your heart. Which makes this book all the more exciting because some of my favorite Men of Haven characters make surprise cameos!!
Her NOLA nights series is full of danger and suspense and “Hers to Tame” was so riveting that I read it twice!! I fell in love with Kir, the sexy, second in command to Sergei, who we met in “His to Defend.” Kir is fiercely loyal, devoted to his family and when it comes to Cassie, his love for her is powerful and everlasting. He is her protector, her confidant, and her forever, and he will stop at nothing to ensure her safety. He is a powerful, imposing man, who is also thoughtful, romantic and knows what he wants. Kir never forgot about the steamy nights he spent with Cassie and when she magically reappeared in his life on the night of his birthday, he knew that she was the only present he could have wished for. Kir didn’t care if she only wanted to be friends or business associates because he was determined to show her that they were destined to be together. Cassie replays her nights with Kir with wistful longing, and she regrets how she left things, which is why she felt it necessary to apologize to him. Kir is the most handsome and magnetic man she had ever met and she was drawn to him in ways she cannot explain. Their connection was magical and heartfelt, but was also surrounded by danger and a life she didn’t really understand.
Can Cassie’s heart and mind agree to a life with Kir and all that he comes with?
Kir loves Cassie more than life itself, but is it enough?
I loved reading this latest installment of Rhenna Morgan’s NOLA Knights series. Cassie McClintock is the reporter investigating the series of events from the end of the first book, His to Defend (while pivotal to this story line, Hers to Tame can be read as a standalone.) Her investigation puts her back into the path of Kir Vasilek and she realizes he is still very much interested. Kit, for all his toughness from being raised in the Russian mob is so very attentive, and devoted to Cassie’s every need. Every girl’s dream of the perfect alpha. Despite Cassie always feeling like the misfit in her family, she sees the beauty that can be a family you choose for yourself and decides it can be hers as well. I am looking forward to the next installment of this series
Five amazing alpha goodness stars!!! Kir is beyond the perfect hero…he’s what other heroes strive to be!
” , ’ , .”
Eight months ago, Cassie began to make a name for herself with the release of several news stories involving one of New Orleans’ questionable citizens. It was no coincidence that Kir was a large resource during her work on the case. However, when his own character and connections are called into question, she ghosted him, leaving him with no explanation. Now, her well is dry and she’s struggling to stay on her professional feet. Perhaps it’s time to confront the man that has held way too many thoughts in her mind.
Cassie had a lot of hang ups regarding her professional and lifestyle choices, all of them due to her family. As the underachiever and black sheep, she’s lived life in constant turmoil, never measuring up to their expectations. All of this shines through in her thoughts and insecurities. She wasn’t your typical tough heroine, but when she needed to be strong, she was more than capable.
As for Kir…there are not enough words to describe him. He was totally swoon worthy in that he cared for Cassie in a way that you don’t see a lot of heroes do, even when they’re the strong alpha type. She was first in everything and he never hesitated to let her know exactly where she stood with him. Protective, possessive, with a few instances of jealousy, he was so sweet, kind and caring that I was a drooling mess.
”’ , . , .”
While this is centered around a mystery that added a bit of drama, the crux of the story is the romance and Cassie’s acceptance of Kir and the family. A lot of the excitement surrounding the bad guy is off page, and while I did feel a bit cheated by that, I was thrilled at Cassie’s response. She really grew throughout this book and it was completely believable.
This also has some wonderful secondary characters, most from the first book as well as books from the Men of Haven series, but it also introduced us to the potential for a new heroine that I want, badly. Included was Cassie’s Aunt Frieda who was just as amazing as this author’s other older women/mother figures. She was a real hoot and I hope we see more of her as well.
Overall, this was a wonderful story, filled with emotion and blooming with romance all wrapped up in an alpha’s arm.
Gentleman alert! That’s right, our hero is one of those rare gentleman’s that we love and adore! He opens the door for women. He walks her to her door. He picks her up from her house and drives her to their destination. He takes care of her car for her. Why can’t we get more heroes like Kir??? We NEED more men like him.
To say the least, I loved this book, and I could say it is all due to Kir, but we actually have a really admirable heroine as well. I love that she is the perfect woman for a man like him. He deserved to have someone who will appreciate who he is. There were a few times she questioned Kir’s need to take care of her. Once you hear his response to these questions, you will fall even harder. This was an all around fantastic couple to read about.
Well done, Rhenna Morgan. Well done.
WOW! “HERS TO TAME” is another 6 star winner, IMHO 🙂 I was hooked from page one by this 2nd marvelous, new book in the outstanding ‘NOLA Knights’ spinoff from the phenomenal, ‘Men of Haven’ world! … Whether you’ve read the 1st page-turner, (“His To Defend”) or not, get ready to be swept away by this fantastic MUST READ that held me captive, & then left me craving more! … But, I promise you won’t want to miss out on book one first 😉 … Ms. Morgan has a magical way of weaving words together for each amazing book’s tapestry, with unique plots, great descriptions and attention to detail, plus I can always count on the witty dialogue and strong, relatable characters that bring the story to life! … Oh, and don’t forget to wear gloves for some smoking hot, melt-your-kindle, contemporary romance 😉 Add in some suspense & intrigue & you’ve got a chart-topper that will keep readers engaged & turning pages like crazy! … Even tho I always volunteer to read this author’s books, these are my honest feelings without any outside influences, so I do strongly recommend this novel, and series to adult 18+ fans of fiction. Now I can’t wait for the next book, but I certainly will 😉
It’s no secret I love Rhenna Morgan’s heroes and Kir is another one I can chalk on the board of favorites! He’s quiet, but has an intensity that pulls you in from the moment he walks on the page. His fierce loyalty to family is admirable and his feelings towards Cassie range from tender and sweet to deliciously naughty.
Cassie was just as lovable. She may struggle with balancing being independent and accepting help, but her intelligence stands out with a keen eye for detail and the number of questions she asks. She also doesn’t jump in blindly with Kir. She asked genuine questions and got honest answers, providing great insight in to what made these two tick.
And let’s not forget Cassie’s Aunt Frieda! Gracious, that woman fits right up there with Ninette and Sylvie (Men of Haven series) level of love and craziness!! Seriously, if anyone has these types of people in their family, I envy you the support and hilarity that comes with! They make me want to give squishy hugs to fictional characters!
Overall, the storyline was solid and I enjoyed the descriptions of Nola. And while the puzzling crime Cassie and Kir were working on kept me intrigued, the romance was the shining thread and really hit the spot!
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley/Harlequin-Carina Press and this is my honest review.
Kir and Cassie have history that has them reconnecting when she comes back to town after he reaches out for her help. I loved this story! It is filled with drama that draws you in and holds you captive from start to finish is. He is alpha all the way and he and Cassie set this story apart which is a testament to Ms. Morgan’s story telling talent. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book from Netgalley for an honest review

I was so excited to read Kir’s story. Kir and Cassie have a bit of a past, that gets reignited. Their story is full of suspense and steam. I so like the interconnected characters between Nola and Men of Haven. Lots great alpha male hotness! #netgalley…..I cannot wait for the next stories to come!
While I liked the first book better in this spin-off of the Dallas series, this second one of the New Orleans series is still very good.
I really enjoyed this latest book in the NOLA knights series!!! Cassie and Kir have a brief affair after he helped her on a story. Cassie got scared when she found out who he worked for and avoided Kir and his calls. She feels horrible and after some time had passed, she reached out to apologize. Kir won’t let another opportunity pass by without making Cassie his. What turns out to be another chance at working together again turns into a relationship between them two. Can they make things work without outside influences testing their new relationship? I loved their book so much…I laughed, cried, swooned all throughout. Kir and Cassie were perfect for each other. I can’t wait for the next book in this amazing series…well done!!!!
This is the second story in the spin-off series from Rhenna Morgan’s Men of Haven books and it’s a winner! Unfortunately I didn’t read the first book in this series, but I recently purchased it and will be doing so! That being said, since Hers to Tame is a standalone I had no problem connecting with these characters even though I hadn’t read the first book in this series. This is a mafia style, slow burn romance between Kir and Cassie and believe me when I say these two had tons of chemistry. Well-developed characters, excellent storyline and an overall winning read. I would definitely recommend if you like steamy mafia romances!
***5 ‘You And I Will Be’ Stars***
This baby was all kinds of fun! It was all kinds of sweet and smexy and filled with a lot of heart, as well as nice little bit of suspense thrown into the mix that kept things interesting. Also, it was filled with characters that I’ve come to love and some newbies that I want to spend lots more time with!
I ADORED Cassie and Kir. Cassie is hard working, honest and all kinds of sweet and sassy. I loved the way her mind worked and how, even in her more vulnerable moments, how forthright she was. Kir is all kinds of Alpha AF, but not in an asshat way, more in a bulldozer kind of way. He just does what he feels is the right thing to do and simply expects to get it done, but beneath the bulldozer is a man who cares deeply for those he calls his own, which is why he rarely takes no for answer.
Their journey to their HEA was all kinds of fun. The angst was low, the sweet and smexy was on point and I simply loved how they communicated with each other. There were some things that they couldn’t (wouldn’t) say right away, but in general, they acted like the adults they were and didn’t make things harder than they needed to be. The bantering was on point and the chemistry was HAWT! While there weren’t any major roadblocks, there were things that they both needed to figure out as individuals and a couple and I just really liked how everything turned out for them.
This was a great addition to the series all around. There is a bit of suspense woven into the mix that worked out in a surprising way for me, but made total sense. And then there are the supporting cast of characters. I loved catching up with Sergei, Evette, Emerson, Dorothy and Olga, as well as getting a bit of time with the Haven crew here and there. As for newbies to the story, Frieda and Bonnie were awesome! But Roman is still my fav, though there were a couple of new ones that peaked my interest, but the man is still numero uno and I cannot wait to get my hands on his book (especially since I’m pretty sure who the woman who will bring him to his knees is!)

This is the second book in the NOLA Knights series and it was just as good as the first. Kir Vasilek has seen bad things happen to his father in the name of love. He doesn’t get involved with more than a one night stand. When he meets Cassie he breaks his own rule.
“The worst lies are the ones we tell ourselves.”
Cassie McClintock is a reporter. They had a few encounters then Cassie found out Kir was connected to the New Orleans mafia and cut things off.
“I am an honorable man, and—no matter my line of work or present affiliations—you will always be safe within my care”
Let me tell you when these Russian Alpha’s make up there minds that’s it. Game Over!! Your Mine!!
Talk about swoon worthy hero.
Aunt Frieda is quirky and sassy. She fits right in with the Haven family.
I was hoping Bonnie would be the next heroine so Whoo Hoo!! Roman watch out.
I’m not real big on what most people call mafia romance but this one is perfection.
Hers to Tame is book two in the NOLA Knights series by Rhenna Morgan. I need to say right here at the beginning that this book right here, this one, is why I read. This man, Kir, is all my very favorite heroes wrapped up in one delicious package. I love him so much. But in this book, he only has eyes for Cassie, and will stop at nothing until he makes her his.
Kir Vasilek is thirty six years old. He works for the most powerful man in organized crime in New Orleans, Sergei, whom you may have read about in the first book in this series. Kir’s family are the people he has chosen as his family, the people he surrounds himself with every day. His loyalty to these people knows no boundaries. He will do anything to keep them safe.
Cassie McClintock is twenty five and is a news reporter for a local TV station in New Orleans. She first met Kir several months ago when working on a story. Their chemistry was undeniable and they spent a couple of passion filled nights together. But when Cassie realized just who Kir worked for, she knew continuing to see him would be frowned upon by her network. So she cut ties.
Neither has ever forgotten the other. When their paths cross again, Kir knows he can’t let her walk away again. He never thought he would find what Sergei has. But with Cassie, he can see it all within his grasp. He just has to prove to her that he is worthy of her.
A death within Vir’s family gives him the reason he needs to keep Cassie close. She is just beginning to accept that Vir has other intentions for her when a threat surfaces. Now it becomes evident just how serious Vir is as he takes measures to keep her safe.
Cassie has never experienced a close knit family and with Vir’s family, she finds herself enveloped in their midst. They welcome her with open arms. She only has to let go of her insecurities from her past and accept them.
I never thought I’d react the way I did to Kir. He is so proper, his manner of speech so perfect. But every word out of his mouth made me melt. His protectiveness, the way he treated Cassie, his loyalty, all of it! The things this man said! Just Wow!
I couldn’t put this down as Cassie and Kir found their way together. Cassie’s Aunt Frieda was so much fun. And of course, we get some appearances from our beloved characters from the Men of Haven series. Rhenna Morgan seems to have the ability to pick out all the favorite things from my mind and write them into her books. How she does it, I don’t know. But what I do know is that I will continue to read her books. The next book in this series will be Roman’s story, Mine to Keep.
“My beauty.
My prize.
My heart.”
Cassie is a local TV reporter who had the #1 mafia segment with the takedown of Stephen Alfonsi. During her research, she became close to her informant, KirVasilek. What looked like a promising new relationship turned sour when Cassie was told that Kir was Russian mafiya and she walked away from him. Kir didn’t understand Cassie’s rebuff and now a year later when they cross paths and Cassie needs his help, Kir is not going to back down.
A nice mix of dirty dealings, action, and romance, Hers to Tame has strong characters and a page-turning flow. Leading lady Cassie is a smart, driven woman who is willing to take a chance. Kir is loyal to the family that he has built versus the one that threw him away, causing him to be cautious with his heart. Told from alternating POVs of the main characters, Ms. Morgan takes you through the re-building of Cassie and Kir’s relationship while weaving a bit of suspense and outside tension in their lives.
This was a new to me author and I thoroughly liked the pacing and build-up of the story, the interactions with side characters, and the steamy scenes. This is book two of the series but can be read as a standalone, though I am now curious as to Sergy and Evie and will be going back to book 1 and look forward to book 3.
HERS TO TAME by Rhenna Morgan is book Two in the NOLA Knights Series. This is the story of Kir Vasilek and Cassie McClintock. I have read the previous book (loved it!) so that did add to my enjoyment of this one, but I did feel you could make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Cassie is a investigative reporter who we meet in the first book where she had gather information for her news stories. But she ended up slipping away from Kir. Now she is back doing more investigations for stories and this time he is letting her get away. Of course there is danger that adds to the page turning read. Loved this book, the authors writing and this series. I hope to read more soon from this author.
The second book brings another Russian knight to the knees. Kir brokes many rules for reporter Cassie and he let her go when she broke all the contact between them. But destiny has its ways and brings them together again and this time Kir is decided that he will keep her and make her his. It is a lovely story that is easy to read with great characters. Both Cassie and Kir find in eachother what they were missing their whole life.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
I devoured this sexy and suspenseful addition to the NOLA Knights series. Kir is my new favorite Rhenna Morgan hero. He is sexy, sweet, broody and devoted to his chosen family. Loved how he cared for Cassie. I found myself connecting with Cassie and her family issues instantly. I was so happy when she found her place. Wish I had an Aunt Frieda to drink margaritas with. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
