This story is as sweet as the title promises. Yet, somehow it still tackles death, depression, low-self-esteem, and verbal abuse. It was deep without being too heavy. I couldn’t put it down.

Enjoyable Story
This updated version of Best Friend’s Brother is really great! In our culture, we don’t “accept” stories where the woman is older very well. Three years isn’t a very big difference. Maybe books like this with help change perceptions. Keke is a bit… hmm… not sure how to describe her, but Pete is adorable. The relationship between them is really cute. Good book.

An entertaining sweet best friends brother romance. This enjoyable storyline had me engaged from the start with a forbidden type reunion. It includes drama, difficult fathers, family issues, business problems all sometimes getting intense but still a fun read holding my interest throughout. I voluntarily reviewed this ARC.
I liked the character of Peter Hadley who spent all his free time programming and playing video games despite his intelligence and acceptance into Cornell wants to make a living designing apps. It was what he enjoyed and was good at, but not what his judgmental father wanted. I didn’t like Keighley “Keke” Kaye as much because she came off as arrogant talking about all the hearts she’d broken and how she could tutor Peter in how to get a girl. They both had judgmental harsh controlling fathers. She broke free to pursue her dream of dancing and acting in college. He gets a potential big break with a company that might want to buy his apps and hire him to develop more in Silicon Valley, CA. But he also has to decide if he wants to go to Cornell in NY. She’s just starting out in a struggling low paying to start career in LA. He is three years younger than her. And his sister is her best friend and she made a pact not to date him and potentially ruin their friendship. They can’t deny their attraction to each other, but is it enough to want to overcome all these barriers to a relationship?
Bertie has been essentially her bestie since middle school. Rule #1 from Bertie is that KeKe cannot like her little brother Petey.
When KeKe shows up to work at the Summer Camp at the Campground, she thinks the tall good looking guy is hot. Turns out he is younger brother Pete, and at over six foot tall, no longer so little. Also not happy to work for and with his family at the Campground, and hoping it is for the last time.
Pete has a shot at selling one of his apps, and working at a big gaming company. But first he wants to learn a bit more about romance. Who better to teach him than his long time crush?
Lots of secrets blow up throughout the long hot summer. Family illness, other romantic interests with some hurt feelings, big job prospects – an intense and emotional family drama and romance.

The H & h are so immature at the start, but we soon find that they’ve had to deal with some heavy issues.
It was all great until the end where he turns into the wasteful billionaire-romance caricature that I hate. You know, buying multiple cars, homes, a plane and helicopter…. Typical “rich people aren’t real people” fodder.
