He’s her darkest fantasy. . . After years of struggling, Haven Daly has finally accepted that she’s nuttier than a fruitcake. Why else would she see visions of a beautiful but tormented male every night . . . and actually believe she can talk to him, even feel his touch? But thanks to those dream journeys, she can paint images nobody else on earth can duplicate. In each brush stroke, she … duplicate. In each brush stroke, she captures the blatant masculinity and raw desire in his eyes that promise he’s coming for her…and soon.
She’s the light that keeps him going. . .
Quade Kayrs has already suffered a lifetime of pain and torture. Completely isolated, he kept his sanity thanks to one beautiful female, a vision with kind emerald eyes. In the end, her soft voice led him out of hell. Now, naked and alone, he’s in a strange world that bears little resemblance to the one he left behind. All he knows is Haven. All he wants is Haven. His final mission? To protect her from the evil hunting them both—whether she likes it or not . . .

And she did it again!!! She wrote another f****** amazing book. I loved it. Again two amazing characters collide. Both Quade and Haven are easy to fall in love with. They make such a great power couple. Their journey is not easy, it is full of battle, blood, and suspense. Everything is perfectly wrapped in an amazing story. It is so good to see the previous characters and how are they doing. I loved the humor in it and every time I will wash my teeth I will be thinking of this book. Recommended read.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley
This is such an amazing series! RZ has had me hooked for years!!! Her writing style, characters and story telling are just fantastic!! I absolutely loved this book and Quade and Haven!! They have a bit of a complicated relationship at first. There is so much good stuff happening in this book. Quade versus the 21st century was so much fun! And OMG the toothpaste, so funny!! I love his alpha complex character so much and I love Haven too! She is truly a wonderful heroine and is the perfect balance for Quade. She learns so much about herself and the truth in the world and takes it all with grace and strength. As always with this series, the story line is so intriguing and captures me from the first page and doesn’t let go until The End. I love it!! I really love all of the characters that are recurring from previous books and how they all move in and out of each of the stories so we are always getting a little bit more of all of them. I honestly can’t wait for what comes next!!!
I have been impatiently waiting for Quade’s book. His story from the beginning seemed like it would be compelling and somewhat emotional.
Quade is relieved that it is finally time to let go after centuries of suffering in the hellish dimension he has been in. After so long, he knows nothing but duty, barely remembering friends, loved ones and family.
Knowing there are no more portals or get out of jail free cards for him, he has come to accept his fate.
In dreams he finds surcease with a woman he does not know but is compelled toward.
Haven has been dreaming of a man for years. So much so that she believes she might be crazy. It doesn’t help that she feels inexorably drawn to both him and places she has never been or seen before. She follows this compulsion and realizes that Quade is flesh and bone and that they are both in danger.
After Haven meets Quade, she still is pulled toward different dimensions throughout her dreams and is still being inexorably pulled toward one portal. A portal she is scared to go through. Especially since Quade cannot follow.
What is behind that final portal? Will they survive long enough to explore the love that they could have?
This was an action-filled read and a story that kept me on my toes. I loved Quade and Haven together.
From the beginning I was thrust right into the action and adventure. It kept me on my toes from one minute to the next and I reveled in the mounting tension leading to the final battle with Ulric.
I loved Quade and Haven together. I had been waiting for their story and I can say that I’m quite satisfied with the result.
The saga continues as we get ever closer to that final battle. I cannot wait for more.
I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I received Hero’s Haven by Rebecca Zanetti from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my fair and honest review of this book.
This is the 11th book in the Dark Protectors series, although it was the first one I have read in the series. Having said that it wasn’t that hard to follow along with the storyline. I absolutely fell in love with Haven she was such a strong and amazing character, with all she went thru growing up. I have fallen in love with this series and will be going back and reading the other 10 books that I haven’t read. The book is action packed, and hot hot hot! I would definitely recommend it to those that enjoy paranormal romance.
Dark Protector Series has not slowed down, this one is jam packed with action. This is hunky alpha hybrid Quade and crazy, or is she, Havens story. Humor…. toothpaste, lol. You have to read the book. We see the King and Queen, the Seven, Alphas and their mates. Their is evil, Ulric, there is obession. We see Hope, and what’s going on there? All these little nuggets of things still to come. Well done and awesome for book 11, still going strong. Thank you NetGalley, Lyrical Press and Rebecca Zanetti for the arc. I freely volunteered to share my thoughts and opinions.
Hero’s Haven is Quade and Haven’s story. I’m so glad Quade has finally come home. It was pretty fun to see him adjust to technology after being away for so long. He’s still got that famous Zanetti alpha personality that I love so much.
Haven is one of my more favorite heroines in this series. She’s not a fighter at all but that never seemed to be a handicap for her. It’s cool to find out what she is and the capabilities that she has. She played such a big role in this book.
This couple was fun. I really loved how he tried to insert his dominance and she just said no. Their banter was entertaining.
I’ll never get tired of seeing everyone again in each new book. I just love this world that RZ has created. This is one of those series where I hope we get tons of books but also makes me anxious to see how this is all going to play out with Ulrich.
I’m willing to be patient because we have more Zanetti males to find their mates. Benny is going to be one crazy ride!
Hero’s Haven was good, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. I’m not exactly sure what I was expecting, I think I wanted a little more time of Quade and Haven apart before coming together. But I did enjoy it and it was a solid addition to the Realm world. I can’t wait until the next book, who I really hope it is about Adare.
Rebecca Zanetti adds another unputdownable, non-stop action read with explosive chemistry to her Dark Protectors series.
Haven Daly had resigned to the fact that she wasn’t normal. How else could she explain the dreams of other worlds she so expertly exhibited in her paintings? Or the incredibly handsome man she envisioned she could talk to and practically feel? Then that man appeared before her. Naked. In a snowy field while being attacked by strange men with fangs. It was at that moment that she knew she had completely lost it or her worldview had totally been turned on its axis. She had survived so far, she could find a way to survive in this new crazy world. Right?
A long time ago, demon-vampire hybrid Quade Kayrs endured an excruciatingly painful ritual to become one of the Seven and sacrificed his life to guard the world against a great evil and the only way to maintain his sanity against the endless torture was to focus on the lovely vision of Haven who after centuries led him back to a world he hardly recognized. He’s only certain of two things: he wants Haven and needs to find his family to help keep evil at bay.
Every time I open a Rebecca Zanetti book I know I’ll be getting all of my favs: a strong heroine, delightful familial bonds, heart stopping action, a hooking plot, a delicious alpha male and scorching sexy times. Hero’s Haven gave me all that and more.
Once back on this world, Quade instantly recognizes Haven as an immortal being (even if she doesn’t know it), AND as his mate. He thought he’d never have one. He knew he’d sacrifice himself for the greater good, but as he acclimates himself to this strange new world (so funny) and while he finds his brothers, he will be her protector.
Of course Haven has options on the latter given that she’s been on her own for a long time and every interaction between them not only helps build their relationship but also ratchets up the sexual tension between them. Yet there are many reasons and circumstances that keep getting in their way. But the romance unfolds in a way that made me savor each word and also want me to reach the end.
I loved reading more about the Seven and past characters. The overall arc keeps getting more and more thrilling and I can’t wait to continue reading this very exciting series.
Hero’s Haven is book #11 of the Dark Protectors series by author Rebecca Zanetti. It is an exciting standalone paranormal romance, told from various points of view with a happy ending.
Let me start by saying paranormal is not my favorite genre. I have read non-paranormal books by this author though, so when I saw it I thought, meh…let me give it a try. Now I’m like a little kid doing the gimme-gimme hands. Gimme more! Hero’s Haven is a spectacular paranormal romance by Rebecca Zanetti. Ms. Zanetti has provided readers with a well-written book populated with a phenomenal cast of characters. I would say this book captured me at page one, but really, I was hooked by the blurb. Quade is one of the Seven and is fulfilling his duty. Haven has thought she was crazy and takes her meds every day. Quade and Haven’s story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to reading more from Rebecca Zanetti soon. Gimme! Hero’s Haven is book 11 of the Dark Protectors Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“He had returned. This world had better be ready.”
5 stars!
OMG, I love this book! It’s action packed and a wild ride from start to finish, I was hooked from the very first moment and struggled to put this one down. It’s exciting, fun and intriguing with fantastic character dynamics and a gorgeous romance, and I loved every little bit of it.
I’m a huge fan of the Dark Protectors series and am loving the direction of this second story arc that began in book #8, shifting the storyline away from the Realm and to the Seven – a secretive, elite group of immortal warriors charged with protecting the world from super-villain, Ulric.
Quade Kayrs (great, great uncle to the original Kayrs boys in the series) is a demon-vampire hybrid and was one of the original Seven. He was chosen to exist in a ‘bubble’ realm created to keep Ulric captive, and he has endured centuries of endless torture, dying over and over again as he works to keep Ulric’s prison intact. His one touchstone has been the soothing glimpses of a beautiful but mysterious woman, Haven, and when his very world began collapsing around him, it is her voice that leads him through to safety.
Haven Daly is a woman on the run from her past. She endured unimaginable torment at the hands of her adopted family who believed she was possessed by a demon. Why else would she have strange visions, and dream of supernatural creatures? Well, it turns out she’s an actual demon… not that she knows that. She now lives her life in hiding, accepting of the fact that there is clearly something wrong with her, and content to follow her feelings as she is pulled in a particular direction, to a man that she has seen only in her dreams, and now, for the first time, in the flesh.
“This is real,” he said, his voice guttural and raw. “You have to know. This is real.”
She could only nod. It had to be. Right?
Quade is back on earth for the first time in over 2,000 years, and the first person he sees is the woman who helped him find his way home. He instantly recognises Haven as a fellow supernatural, and not only that, but as his fated mate. It’s something he thought he’d never have, and as a member of the Seven, it’s not something he thought he’d be allowed to have. But the female is his, and he puts himself in the role of protector as the two of them team up to find his ‘brothers’ in the Seven, all while danger is closing in on them.
“There was a time he’d accepted the fate of dying alone on that horrible world. This was another chance to live a different life, one he had not even dared to dream about before. The female had saved him, and now he would save her.”
God, I love this story. Quade and Haven are absolutely sensational characters – both with their quirks, which is very understandable given the lives they’ve lived. Quade’s reintroduction to life on earth is so entertaining, and the bickering and bantering between the two of them is so much fun.
“She licked her lips, and his eyes flared. “I’m not into the whole alpha male thing.” Not true. Her body was all in. She never should have drunk half a bottle of whiskey. Four steps forward, and she could have her mouth on that hot male skin. “Sorry.”
“Alpha male thing?” He rubbed his cleanly shaven jaw. “Explain.”
“That. That order,” she burst out. “I’m not into guys who think they’re in charge and are all grrrr.”
He frowned. “I’m not all grrrr.”
This was getting ridiculous.
“But I am in charge.”
Every interaction between them is underpinned by their sizzling chemistry. As destined mates, it’s hard for them to resist each other, but there are things in the way of them being together, and the push and pull is absolutely delicious! The sexual tension builds brilliantly, and I loved watching them find their way forward in their own unique way.
“He paused and looked up at her until she focused on him. “You are worth waiting for, Haven Daley. Someday, when you’re ready, your heart will be mine.”
His words barely computed, but her heart warmed anyway.
He twisted those fingers inside her, sending electricity along every nerve. “For now, your pleasure is.”
It’s sexy and sweet, and the love story develops beautifully, and I loved watching it happen. And it all unfolds amidst much excitement as they constantly fight for their survival against enemies old and new, and I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough.
There is drama and some gorgeous emotion with the long-waited reunion with the Seven, and their meet up with the boys of Realm is awesome, giving us the chance to catch up with characters from the previous books – including earlier in the series – and I loved that so much. The storyline is continuing to build to its exciting climax, with Haven a big part of that, and with books coming for the rest of the Seven, and an intriguing story continuing to develop for little Hope Kayrs-Killwood, I’m so excited for what is to come!
This book is everything that I love about paranormal romance, and I freaking loved it! 5 stars.
Haven has been told she was crazy for a very long time. Her family tried to exorcise her for heavens sake! Her main vision feature a certain tall, brooding warrior-like male. The very idea of him should make her shiver with fear, but he ghostly guy makes her feel nothing but safe. Okay…he also makes her feel very, very hot!!!
Quade’s “bubble” universe had been decaying for a while. He had dies many deaths within it but when it finally crumbled, he arrived back in his home dimension, naked as the day he was born. The woman who comes to his aid is the same female from his dreams. The one who got him through some of his toughest challenges.
I loved Quade! He is full on alpha, ven though he is so out of step with modern times. He does pick things up helluva fast! Haven is proof that you can overcome your past and make a bright future. Those junior protectors are going to be the death of someon!! The three musketeers are going to be a handful, you can just tell!
Superb! This series just goes from strength to strength. Never feels samey or slapdash. The characters are always engaging and have a purpose, never just there to fill up the word count! Now for the wait for the next one. Siiiiggghhhh!
This is the first book I’ve read in this series. For information, the fact that I haven’t read any of the previous books did not detract from the story whatsoever. It did however make me wish I’d read earlier books in this series. The Realm – full of every supernatural creature you can think of I’m sure, has hybrids such as demon vampires, demon fairies, as well as shifters and amongst other things a priest wanting to perform exorcisms. The story follows Haven Daley and Quade Kayres, two beings who it would seem, have dreamt of each other, quite literally for years, and when they finally meet, sparks fly, as it seems they were made for each other. Quade though, is not used to stubborn independent women, and it’s fun watching him learn all about modern day life. Haven however is not going to let anyone boss her around, even Mr Tall, Dark and Handsome, with the alpha genes. No she’s definitely going to give him a run for his money. A story full of romance and action (not for the faint hearted, there’s quite a bit of bloodshed), and a completely addictive supernatural storyline with some pretty colourful characters. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
Haven is an artist and believes she’s crazy. She has painted a man she talks to in her dreams. She is running from her adopted parents because they think she has a demon in her and she must be saved. Quade is one of the Seven, made to protect the supernaturals. They are a secretive group and it is an extremely painful process. He has been in another world for centuries, trying to keep Ulrich, a bad demon, from returning. Apparently his world exploded and Haven has brought him to Earth. The Kayrs mating mark appears on Quade’s hand and knows Haven is his mate. He must find his brothers and figure out how to keep Ulrich in his own world. But demons and crazies want Haven and she’ll have to fight to stay one step ahead of them. Can Quade learn how to love and convince Haven to mate him?
I absolutely loved this story. It has lots of action and is very funny in places. I cracked up, Quade is just too cute and sweet. Haven is talented and different but is also strong and independent. I can’t wait to read the rest in this series.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
Haven finds her Hero
Loved returning to the Realm with our Dark Protectors and finding out more about Quade and Haven. I can only imagine the frustration Quade would feel coming to this new world and experiencing everything, in our time with our current technology for the first time and trying to navigate it all while trying to fight the enemy
This story is non stop action and I absolutely loved it I hope we get more as I would love to see Benny find himself a mate, even after he’s proclaimed he’ll be a bachelor for the rest of his life Thank you to Netgalley, Rebecca and the publisher for my advanced copy for which I leave my honest review
