He’s her darkest fantasy. . . After years of struggling, Haven Daly has finally accepted that she’s nuttier than a fruitcake. Why else would she see visions of a beautiful but tormented male every night . . . and actually believe she can talk to him, even feel his touch? But thanks to those dream journeys, she can paint images nobody else on earth can duplicate. In each brush stroke, she … duplicate. In each brush stroke, she captures the blatant masculinity and raw desire in his eyes that promise he’s coming for her…and soon.
She’s the light that keeps him going. . .
Quade Kayrs has already suffered a lifetime of pain and torture. Completely isolated, he kept his sanity thanks to one beautiful female, a vision with kind emerald eyes. In the end, her soft voice led him out of hell. Now, naked and alone, he’s in a strange world that bears little resemblance to the one he left behind. All he knows is Haven. All he wants is Haven. His final mission? To protect her from the evil hunting them both—whether she likes it or not . . .

Haven Daly thinks she is crazy. She has visions of strange worlds and a male struggling to survive. Haven paints what she sees. One of her visions takes her to a world where she meets the man she has been dreaming about. Quade Karys has dedicated his life to preventing the end of the world. Life is hard, but a vision of a woman keeps him going. Finally breaking free with the help of Haven, Quade must learn to navigate a world that is unfamiliar to him, deal with family, feelings for Haven and yes, prevent Ulric from breaking free and entering our realm.
I really enjoyed this book in the Dark Protectors series. Quade is quite a character. He has to carry through with the Seven’s destiny and his possible death and to accept Haven as his mate. I cracked up with his love of toothpaste. I am also hooked on Hope’s story line and look forward to seeing how it pans out as they fight to stop Ulric. This is my new favorite book in the series. I look forward to the next book in the series.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the DP. I hope Zanetti never ends this series. Every new character she introduces adds to the overall expansion of the series. There is sooo much she can do with it and so many directions she can go.
On that note, I would love to see her finish Adare and Grace’s story. They need their own HEA.
Rebecca Zanetti returned to the amazing world of her Dark Protectors, the Realm spinoff series, with this fabulous book.
Omg ! Y’all ! I loved Quade and Haven so much ! They were simply amazing together. Just a bit about them. Haven. This girl was so incredibly strong. She was a survivor who had been through hell. Her sense of humor was wicked funny, She had a soft vulnerable side, and felt more than a little lost sometimes, but Quade was her true north as much as she was his. Their connection was incredibly intense and sizzling hot. Oh my Gawd. Quade had to be the most charming hero of any book that I’ve read. He completely endeared himself to this reader throughout the entire story. I found myself chuckling out loud again and again as this ancient invincible vampire hero fumbled his way along in the modern world. I fell completely under his spell.
As usual, Rebecca Zanetti’s writing was absolutely brilliant. The storyline was multilayered and pulled in some of my all time favorite characters from past Dark Protectors and Realm books. Considering that Quade is not only a Kayrs but also an original members of The Seven determined to honor a very important vow that could put his group at odds with The Realm and his blood family. This book was very exciting and emotionally gripping, a non stop thrill ride loaded with action and steamy sexiness, and garanteed to keep you flipping the pages until the end.
I can’t wait for the next one !
Quade Kayrs has spent more than a few lifetimes living and dying in pure hell. The only thing that seems to keep him going are those few moments, those glimpses of a beautiful woman invading his realm. Haven Daly thinks she’s crazy but unique is a more appropriate way to describe her. A fiercely independent woman, an amazing artist and a girl on the run.
Driven by visions and a pull Haven and Quade start the wheels of motion on something that makes epic look small. Through an action packed, fast paced, dangerous story Haven and Quade build a sexual tension that practically just off the pages. The banter between these two is top notch. Their chemistry is intense as is everything else going on in the book. The depths they easily went to for one another made every bit of craziness so worth.
Hero’s Haven is a true on the edge of your seat read. Once I started, I couldn’t stop reading until I was done. Strong characters and fabulous world building are just the start of why I enjoyed. The action scenes are spot on and engaging. And let’s just say those hot moments are definitely on fire. Ms. Zanetti kept Haven and Quade’s story moving yet nothing felt rushed or unnatural for the story. A true heart pounding, blood pumping read.
So worth the wait! Quade is fantastic in his caveman, confused, toothpaste-eating, protectiveness. In the bubbles of other worlds for centuries, there is so much he has to learn and Haven is first on his list. She’s been a light in the repeated immortal death he endured. She’s tried his patience (the single ounce he has) but she lights him up. She brings him to life.
Quade brings her a clarity and identity she has needed her entire life. She’s not crazy or possessed. She a fae-demoness. A one of a kind and she is fiercely independent. But he’s tearing that protective wall down. She’ll go down fighting but she won’t have have to do it alone.
I can’t wait for Ivar and Grace!!!! Please tell me they are next!
OMG! Love, love, LOVED this BOOK!
Ms. Zanetti intricately crafts dynamic story lines filled with danger, suspense, deadly secrets and sexy, possessive alpha males! Her characters are always well-written and multifaceted! These characteristics are what draws in each and every curious reader, and what sustains them.
We’ve been hearing about Quade Kayrs for years now and we finally have his story! To say Quade is a damaged hero is putting it mildly. He’s been alone for centuries, bound by duty to protect the world from the most deadly of evils. Say what you will about the Kayrs family, but you’ll never find a more loyal bunch.
Haven has been plagued by visions of a warrior in another world she thought she was only visiting in her dreams. Turns out, she was really there! And the warrior that she dreams of is flesh and blood. And dangerous.
The story held me captive until the very last word! It went by so fast! Lots of action, danger, suspense and surprises! Quade and Haven’s slow-burning chemistry quickly ignited into an inferno of fiery passion. I absolutely loved their story!
The secondary characters were vital to the story and made for some great comic relief. And don’t get me started on Quade and toothpaste! Read the book! You will not be sorry!
Ms. Zanetti’s books never disappoint. Hero’s Haven is a solid, full-throttle read!
**I voluntarily read and reviewed the book provided by the publisher through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affects or influences my thoughts and feelings about the story**
Rebecca Zanetti does it again! This is a must-read in the Dark Protectors series. I just loved Quade! I picture this big alpha male who can’t resist downing a tube of toothpaste. I laugh just thinking about it!
It’s never a dull moment for Quade and Haven. Definitely a 5 star read!
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I have started collecting this series and have 7 of the 11 so far , but still need this one, and I also have several of the novellas too! I have not read them all yet!
The cover is yummy!!
This is the 11th book in this series, but it is only the 4th one I’ve read. This series is already in my heart because I want to own and read them all as well as the Realm Enforcers series. Obviously, you can read them out of order though I bet you love them all even more if you read them all in order. This series is for adults only due to the violent fights where heads are removed and the steamy content with mates! I love the humor infused throughout between mates and the brothers. Always makes me giggle!
Well Quade is free because Haven saved him, but there have been complications. Haven is finally learning about herself, and Quade is learning how mistreated she has been. Quade is learning everything about the world today, and he is still having to battle the cyst and the kurjans along the way. He has found his brothers and family, and now needs to figure out his vows and Haven because he never thought he would have a mate. This is another action packed book with battles, explosions, exorcisms, love, and craziness all around. I loved every word and couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to see whose story is next!
I highly recommend to all PNR fans because this has a little bit of everything vampires, shifters, demons, fae, witches, fanatics, bad guys, love, and so much more!
Content notes: ableist language, religious extremism
I picked this one up, not realizing it’s number 11 in Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series. I’ll admit that the numerous subplots confused me, but it wasn’t enough that I couldn’t get the gist. Though I enjoyed much of Hero’s Haven, I had a few issues that would keep me from recommending this title.
The first half definitely nabbed my attention. Haven grew up in foster care, never really understanding the visions of people and different worlds she envisions. When the man she’s been dreaming of for years suddenly becomes corporeal, she begins to realize that nothing is as it seems.
I enjoyed Haven the most. She’s been through a lot, and she’s determined and takes everything in stride. The arrival of Quade is something she isn’t expecting, but she goes with it.
Quade, for his part, started off as a great character (though he acclimates a bit too quickly in the modern era). But somewhere in the latter half, his alpha switch got turned all the way up, and he became an alpha-hole to a tee. A disappointment, to say the least.
A lot of subplots start to take over, too, and a cyclical plot pattern emerges that made everything feel too unbelievable. My biggest issue, however, was that everyone described others–and every situation–using ableist language (mental health related). It saturated everything.
I did enjoy some parts of this story, and it had a lot of potential, and I enjoyed many of the side characters. There’s also a good blend of action, humor, and tension. That said, I fell out of love with one of the main characters and was left overwhelmed by everything else.
3 stars.
This is the first book in Ms. Zanetti’s Dark Protector series for me to read and I can guarantee that it won’t be the last one. Once I started reading it was so hard to stop reading to do other things like eat and sleep. There is nothing like pitting an overprotective Alpha male with an equally strong female. The sparks that fly when they are together is fun to read about. Then you add in the dream worlds, the other members of the Seven, the other species, a few crazy humans, and the ultimate bad guy and you will see what I mean about not wanting to stop. Although I don’t feel that you have to have read the rest of the series to enjoy this book, I know that I want to just to catch up on some of the other couples stories and perhaps see how all this began. I am definitely looking forward to the next book(s)
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I was able to read an ARC of this book. The view expressed above is freely given and strictly my own.
This series just keeps getting better, I truly love this series. Each book brings you deeper into the world of vampires, demons, and all other species involved. Quade and Haven were so good together and their banter and squabbles were so entertaining. I can’t wait for more!!
4.5 stars
I enjoyed this book so much more than the last one in the series!
Quade finally returns to earth and I love, love, love that it’s the heroine who rescues him rather than one of his friends. We found out in Alpha’s Promise that Haven was somehow meeting with Quade telepathically in the dimension where he was trapped. Well, turns out, not only does she have the power to visit other worlds, she has some abilities to manipulate those worlds as well.
Haven has spent her whole life considering herself crazy, but when Quade turns out to be very real, it sparks a major awakening in her. I loved watching her grow in her self-esteem and confidence. She is powerful in her own right, but not in a traditional way. She is special…unique. And she has a lot of baggage to deal with from her past at the same time she is dealing with some real danger from people hunting her in the present.
Quade was surprisingly funny. The guy has been away from earth for centuries so he’s got a lot to learn. I loved the running joke about how he loved toothpaste. Not to mention his reaction to everything from clothes, to cars, to The Bachelor.
The book touches on some of the major series arcs like the problems with the Kurjans/Cyst, the conflict between the Seven and the heroes of the Realm, and of course, Hope, Drake, and Paxton.
The only thing that detracted for me was the far too familiar vein of forced dominance, spanking, and withholding orgasm…which reappears in every one of these books. I guess someone out there likes it… I’m just not that someone.
Otherwise, a solid installment. Can’t wait to see where the series goes next.
I thoroughly enjoyed this next installment in the Dark Protectors series. Haven and Quade were perfect for each other and I loved their banter. And of course no one writes alpha vampires like Rebecca Zanetti.
Hero’s Haven is the latest book in the Dark Protector’s series and should be read in order with the rest of the series. Quade has endured a lifetime of hell as one of the Seven protecting the world from Ulrich and isolated in his own dimension until a spunky demon/fairy hybrid drags him back to Earth. Haven’s childhood was rough with a zealot father who believed he could drive a demon out of her. She escaped all the while questioning her sanity but now she knows the truth and the big sexy man she rescued is her fated mate. Danger comes from all sides as Quade and Haven learn to adjust to their new reality and fight the good fight while falling in love. Full of action and an overbearing, sexy hero, the story draws you in and the pages fly by for another winning installment in the Dark Protector’s world. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
An Amazing Paranormal Suspense / Romance .
I volunteered to read an advanced readers copy through Netgalley of Hero’s Haven .
This is my honest opinion .
I love a good Paranormal story and I love suspense romance stories . If you combine the two you have a fantastic story just like Hero’s Haven . This story is off the charts action packed and intense . Haven Daly has decided she has finally lost her final marble . She has dreams of a tormented man and has traveled to places in her dreams . She looses herself in painting when her medication doesn’t seem to help .
Quade Kayr’s is a immortal vampire – demon hybrid he has been trapped in a prison dimension guarding his enemy Ulric of the Kurjan for centuries . The dimension he’s in seems to be coming apart he finds himself preparing to die but Haven the woman he has imagined many times appears in the flesh to rescue him . Haven wakes up in bed with a cut from her dream . She finds herself drawn by compulsion she cannot fight to drive North . She finds herself at a closed for the winter campsite . She also finds herself coming face to face with her dream man alive in the flesh . She soon finds out she’s not loosing her mind but she’s not human either and Quade finds the world has really changed while he’s been gone . They must together find Quade’s family and stay safe from their enemies and definitely keep Ulric trapped in the crumbling dimension . This story is absolutely sensational , very entertaining and definitely interesting . I highly recommend taking the time to read and enjoy this story .
Dark Protectors #11, The story of the seven continue on, it is best if you start at the beginning or at least Vampire’s Faith (#8) which is the start of this story arc. When we last saw Quade his world was on the brink of collapse, Haven a special woman who has the ability to travel to other worlds in her dreams has seen Quade, talked to him. Haven doesn’t always have control of where she goes but she was lucky enough to get to Quade before his world collapsed and somehow brought him back with her. Quade is thrust in to modern times and unlike his brother who had the help of Siri to adjust Quade is figuring this out on his own with Haven’s help, his favorite thing is toothpaste.
On the run from human police and the Kurjian are the least of their problems when Haven’s past finds her and tries it’s best to take her way from Quade with the help a creepy shifter. But that’s just the beginning. The Kurjian and the Cyst are still hot on the Seven’s tail and the big bad is closer than ever to breaking free and it’s up to Haven to stop it from happening.
The romance between Quade and Haven starts really nice, they have great chemistry but once it gets to the whole have to mate to protect her I lose interest, normally I love oblivious guys but Quade is just being too stubborn for his own good and it gets tiresome. The ending was brilliant though, I really liked how this one ended.
Overall, out of this new story arc this is definitely one of my favorites. It was action-packed and exciting from cover to cover. And Finally Grace and Adare’s book is going to be next, well after the novella.
SPOILERS AHEAD**********
I’m not sure what to say here but Ms. Zanetti is FANTABULOUS!!!! I cannot express how awesomely glad I am that she returned to the DP world with all these amazing people.!! This is Quade Kayrs story and if you have been reading this series, you know that he has lived centuries, upon centuries, upon centuries, keeping the evil Ulric, trapped off in another dimension. Haven, our heroine, is a seer of sorts she paints the past, present and future. She has been painting Quade for years but thought she was insane all these years. Turns out, she was not! She is a hybrid, Fae-Demon! Loved it! Anywho…she is able to teleport via the dream world and happens to rescue Quade, her mate. Quade is one of the Seven. Filled with action, danger, suspense, killing those Kurjans and Cysts (evil, bad), hot sex and a mating, made for a terrific read! I just love when we meet with our original DP crew…Dage, Talen, Emma. So many great people in this story. I do hope that Hope and Paxton are alright. I would really hate, if anything happened to those two. It seems like they may be destined to be together. 5 WONDERFUL, STUPENDOUS, ACE, MINT-LOVING, HAVEN, KAYRS, AMAZING STARS!*****
P.S. I am in love with Benjamin “Ben” slightly crazy, Reese ever since we met him in the Realm Enforcers. I SIMPLY CANNOT WAIT FOR HIS BOOK!!!
****I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book provided by NetGalley*****
Hero’s Haven is another fast-paced, breathtaking installment in this author’s Dark Protector series. This paranormal romance is a wild ride full of action and suspense and I absolutely loved both Haven and Quade. The world that this author has created with her unique take on all of the paranormal creatures – the Kurjans, demons, vampires, and fae – is phenomenal and I like how she crafts each book with a focus on one particular couple all while keeping up with the interconnecting storylines.
Quade’s character is rather endearing. He is the usual demanding, protective male that we all know and love from this author’s works, but he is also hilarious when it comes to all of his idiosyncrasies as he acclimates to being a part of the modern world. I liked Haven as a heroine as she is wildly independent, a survivor of a crazy past, and refuses to put up with Quade’s overbearing nonsense. Their connection is palpable, but being together isn’t easy as there are many forces throwing obstacles in their way.
I feel like in this book, compared to the previous one, that the underlying story progressed more. We see more of the cyst and the Seven, view a bit more from Hope’s POV, and discover more about the other dimensions/dream worlds. It was fun to get reacquainted with some the members of the Realm and the Seven from the previous books. I suppose, in theory, that Hero’s Haven could be read as a standalone as it is the story of Quade and Haven, but given the interconnecting characters and the overall underlying series plot, I do recommend starting with this series earlier books.
Love how this started! Quade is in some type of horrible dimension waiting to die, and Haven somehow has the ability to portal jump to him from Earth. They have been able to communicate this way for a bit, but finally they come together on Earth after Haven pulls Quade through a portal. Love the excitement of them finally coming together and needing to find their way through a situation they both weren’t prepared for. There’s action and suspense while they fight different groups of bad guys, and try to find Quade’s family and more about Haven’s roots.
The pull and connection between Quade and Haven felt deep and wonderful. Love that there’s hybrids; Vamp/Demon, Fae/Demon, and other interesting supernaturals. The start of the story really pulled me; loved the snowy setting and the suspense of them being on the run. The world and side characters were all interesting and great.
Loved how Quade needed to find his way in this present time after having been in such a desolate dimension; some humorous things there. It all endeared him to me a bit. I liked Haven’s sass, but she did pull the typical move of forcing herself into a dangerous situation even though she has no training thing. Still, she has her strong moments and I loved that she’s an artist that paints these cool things. She’s had a tough upbringing with religious zealots for adoptive parents; I really enjoyed that angle for this story. I was getting tired of her I want love but maybe I don’t back and forth junk, but it is understandable that she’d have issues.
What knocked a star off for me was the romance started intense, but then it lost a bit of that deep connection I was feeling in the beginning. I’m so tired of romances having the characters trying the whole no strings thing; it just makes the characters look like morons because it’s obvious there’s always going to be feelings involved. When this was mentioned, the connection lost some of that depth between Quade and Haven. They still have some passionate moments between them though, so overall, I do like their connection together. I also wasn’t a fan of the kid POV sections; maybe it’s a setup for their books when they are older, but they didn’t quite flow into the story for me. The story lost some steam in the middle after having the great suspense in the beginning.
Overall, some awesome kick butt action, strong premise, sweet romance, cool supernatural elements, and interesting world building. Looking forward to reading much more in this series and by Zanetti.
This author when I see one of her novels cross my path she can get me to stop and take a second look. I did with this one with also a third by entering into it. With a touch of humor also this one opens with Haven painting a picture also for us of luscious male we too want her to get to know if it is possible. The promises he gives says so oh boy. Quade is more than a dream with us salivating by now. But this also has a story to go with it that will give us drama and suspense that goes with the hot. Actually they are both fit for each other that when they really need too they will be there for each other but what really goes down is the allure of this one that will pull you in to the end.
