He’s her darkest fantasy. . . After years of struggling, Haven Daly has finally accepted that she’s nuttier than a fruitcake. Why else would she see visions of a beautiful but tormented male every night . . . and actually believe she can talk to him, even feel his touch? But thanks to those dream journeys, she can paint images nobody else on earth can duplicate. In each brush stroke, she … duplicate. In each brush stroke, she captures the blatant masculinity and raw desire in his eyes that promise he’s coming for her…and soon.
She’s the light that keeps him going. . .
Quade Kayrs has already suffered a lifetime of pain and torture. Completely isolated, he kept his sanity thanks to one beautiful female, a vision with kind emerald eyes. In the end, her soft voice led him out of hell. Now, naked and alone, he’s in a strange world that bears little resemblance to the one he left behind. All he knows is Haven. All he wants is Haven. His final mission? To protect her from the evil hunting them both—whether she likes it or not . . .

HERO’S HAVEN by Rebecca Zanetti is the eleventh book in the Dark Protectors paranormal romantic suspense series. It worked as a stand-alone novel for me and is the second book that I have read in the series this year. However, I believe reading the previous books would likely add to a reader’s enjoyment of the novel.
The story takes place in several fantasy worlds as well as several western USA states including Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and Utah. Haven Daly dreams of a tormented man every night and thinks she can talk to him. During the day, she paints him and has even got a showing of her art in a gallery. Meanwhile, Quade Kayrs has experienced pain, torture, and isolation for lifetimes. He keeps his sanity through visions of a beautiful woman. Haven is a strong, independent woman who doesn’t easily succumb to heavy-handed protectiveness. Much to her amazement she is also an unusual blend of species making her a target for multiple groups. Meanwhile, Quade is dealing with new technology, family reunions, and a woman who won’t do as he demands.
The story had me hooked quickly and the tension and action as well as the romantic sparks did not let up throughout the book. The main characters are compelling and well developed with clear goals and motivations. The story delivers on the promise of its opening scenes and includes demons, vampires, steamy romance scenes, species hybrids, fae, humor, enemies, other dimensions, murder, kidnappings, brotherhood, vows, family, adoption, humor, the expected alpha males, and so much more.
Overall, I enjoyed this well-written novel and recommend the series to those that enjoy this genre. The plot was engrossing, fast-paced, action-packed, entertaining and thought-provoking. The world-building was intriguing and very visual. The ending was satisfying and intense. I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
Thanks to Kensington Books / Lyrical Underground and Rebecca Zanetti for a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley and the opportunity to provide an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.
Oh why, Oh why did I wait so long to read Haven’s story. I knew she would be important, but I definitely didn’t realize how important she would be. I think the author summed up this book within the book when at the end of one of Haven’s chapters it was said that “Immortals has some serious drama.”
This was some amazing drama. Lots of twists. Manny shocking surprises. Loved the macho male trying to tame the independent woman.
I’ve come to expect nothing but Paranormal Romance don’t epically well from Ms. Zanetti, and Hero’s Haven is not exception!
Haven thinks she’s going insane. Her whole life, she’s had dreams of mystical beings and places and now one of the people from her dreams is right in front of her. He’s got to be part of her delusion, right? She’s definitely lost her mind because Quade. Isn’t. Real. Hahahahahaha. As the reader, her resistance to facts was hilarious! And poor Quade had to convince the female who was raised to believe she was human and mentally ill that everything she dreams really exists. There really are magical places and people and she happens to be one of them. And her dreams? She’s actually jumping through portals with her mind and Ulric is drawing her to him. It’s up to Quade and his brothers to not only protect her, but to put an end to Ulric, once and for all.
I’ve been waiting for Quade’s story ever since Ronan’s dimension imploded and I knew his would too. I had to read his story. I needed to know what happened to the male who had lived for so long on his own, slowly going insane, losing his identity little by little. Who would he be when he came back? Would he remember himself and those he loved? With the Seven back together again (although with a few new members to replace the ones who passed), would they finally be able to take out Ulric? ALL of my questions were answered and yet, at the end of this book, I have so many more new ones! Rebecca Zanetti has me absolutely hooked on these dark protectors and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book!
Quade is my new book boyfriend! I will save all the toothpaste just for him!

This book has now become one of my all time favorite books ! I have always loved Rebecca Zanetti’s writing, but this book was special. The storyline, characters and action just clicked for me, and don’t even get me started on Quade!
Quade was amazing, Haven was amazing. The two of them together was perfection! Quade learning how to navigate a new time, and new world was endearing and sometimes funny. Haven, learning her true identity and dealing with her past was sweet and heartbreaking. The two of them letting go and learning to love and trust each other was the best!
This story brings out the cast of characters we have grown to love over the years, Talen, Dage, Hope, The Seven, the mates and so many more. I don’t want to give anything away, bul this book is probably one of my favorite Dark Protectors; and definitely one of my all time faves that I will read and reread! I just didn’t want it to end, but I couldn’t wait to get to the end, what a conundrum! I read this in one day, couldn’t put it down I enjoyed it so much.
Do I recommend? Hell yes, this is a must read in my opinion. It is not really a standalone, because there is an underlying story arc, but you could probably get away with it if you wanted to, but why would you want to? Rebecca Zanetti is one of my top 3 authors! Read all her books! You won’t be disappointed! If you love your demons, vampires and fae; oh my! Pick up this book, because you will get it all!
Perfection! Plain and simple. This book was perfection! and happy reading!!!
I will never get tired of this amazing world! And that’s saying something when I will fight to the death to keep myself from getting pulled into a series, especially a long one. But not only do I love this world and all the characters, I never want it to end.
Most of the heroines in the Dark Protectors are pretty tough with the ability to fight but Haven was not, and I actually loved her character more because of it. She was actually pretty vulnerable but she was still capable of taking care of herself and standing up to Quade when needed.
I adored Quade and his adjustment to this new world as well as his determination to protect Haven and his confusion when she didn’t just let him do his job to do so. He’s definitely the type of hero I love.
“Ask me again. Your question.” His voice was so hoarse the words were garbled.
She swallowed and tried to force out words. “Wh-what do I taste like?”
“Mine.”
While this has a lot of sizzle from the very beginning, it takes this couple some time to get the deed done. There is a lot going on so the pace never slowed down or became repetitive. Despite the number of books in this series, this was a fresh, new plotline adding to not only the past storyline, but introducing a new one as well. I loved seeing all my old favorites and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for this group.
Haven Daly has always believed she had mental problems and that the worlds she travels to in her dreams are a part of that. But that quickly changes when she travels to Quade Kayrs dimension and pulls him out when it explodes. She finally learns the truth about herself and her heritage. Together they must stop Ulric from escaping his prison dimension, all while fighting Cysts and dealing with their mate bond.
I loved this book. Quade and Haven were so cute together. Quade was an extremely protective, sexy alpha male, who was also pretty funny. He has suffered so much and to see him finally happy made me giddy. I loved seeing him learn and struggle with all the technology and inventions. His obsession with toothpaste made me laugh so hard. Haven was smart, sassy, artistic, and emotionally fragile. Her past was so heartbreaking and I am glad she finally got some closure. I do wish her adoptive parents had more of a painful ending. They really deserved it.
Haven and Quade were perfect together. Their relationship was filled with chemistry and was just perfect for me. Together these two healed each other and learned how to love. They were so supportive of each other, even when they were butting heads. It was perfect. I can’t get enough of this series and really can’t wait for the next book.

Hero’s Haven is a gritty dark paranormal romance. There are few others as skilled at characterization as this author. How much fun to return to this series. Within this already built Dark Protectors world (this book is well into the series- #11), we get the return of a half vampire/half demon to our world who’s been away so long all the modern changes are new, not that they slow him down. Fun jabs at the processed food world. This wasn’t a scheduled return for the immortal but a surprise. His life collides immediately with Haven, both of whom have met in dreams many times over the years. She’s a woman who believed herself human, although she is most definitely not, despite some unusual issues that clearly point to otherworldly abilities. There’s insta-bonding on his part and much to my delight quite a bit of reluctance on her part. Much more realistic than the insta-love thing which is written into the code of this world.
This is a non-stop, action filled story with some super hot sexy times (when they finally give in to the heat). There were overtones of antiquated mentality toward women that the two of them had to work through. It’s not an easy road but what a fun story.
Great fun, fast read.
I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The newest Dark Protectors story, Hero’s Haven is even more exciting and better than I could of hoped for! Sexy, thrilling, sizzling hot, this story was epic and Quade and Haven were utterly amazing and their story was FANTASTIC!
Hero’s Haven was and is the best book yet in Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protector series. Don’t get me wrong, I loved each and every book in this series but Quade had a patience and fortitude and strength that I found charming and totally melted my heart. Now Quade is full on alpha for sure, but they way he was so gentle and caring with Haven showed me just how extra special he was. And Haven is extraordinary too! She is unique and beautiful and has a strength all her own that I really loved. This book was filled to the brim with heart pounding, mind blowing action and unforgettable heat that is truly irresistible. Everything about this book made me truly happy and I loved every turn of the page, from start to finish!
Hero’s Haven gets a UNSTOPPABLE FIVE FANTASTIC STARS!
Zanetti knows how to write a book!
This is one of those stories I imagine most fans of the Dark Protectors series have been waiting for since this series has been picked back up. It certainly didn’t disappoint, either. I adore Haven, her strength and grit after all she’s been through and all the things she’s believed about herself. And, although Quade is drastically out of his time, he adapts quickly even while resistant to some of the changes he has to make.
Haven and Quade are meant for each other, there’s no denying that. How could they not be after the connection they’ve forged through the years. Even though Haven didn’t realize it was reality, she always felt a link to Quade.
There are so many things that start coming together in this story. The wheels are turning fast and furious. There are some answers we’ve been waiting for and more questions have come up. I’m so anxious to find out where this all going while loving the ride.
One of the things I really appreciate about this series is the humor. Seriously, as grim and crazy as things get in the world of the Dark Protectors, the author always finds humor. There is a vein throughout this book that has to do with toothpaste and it is gold! It really endeared Quade to me even more while making me giggle every time. I may have said this in a previous review of a Rebecca Zanetti book, but even my husband knows when I’m reading when of her books because of the reactions I have while reading. Laughing, gasping, yelling, and telling the characters what to do. I get very animated when reading these stories, that’s for sure.
I never want this series to end while also wanting everyone to find peace and their HEA.
Hero’s Haven is the eleventh book in the Dark Protectors series. In my opinion, these books are best enjoyed if they are read in order so you know the back story and understand more about the characters.
We learned in the previous book about the existence of Haven and how special she was. Her life had not been easy and I hated how she had been treated and how she suffered. While Quade’s determination to serve the Seven and/or die trying saddened me, I understood because he was an honorable male and solider. Yet it was hard to imagine the amount of pain he endured for so many years. It made sense that Haven would be the one to save Quade, and in return he would save her right back. Their chemistry was intense and I loved watching the two characters begin to trust each other and fall in love.
Adare and Grace’s book is next. For the last few books, they’ve been circling their attraction and fighting it. I’m anxious to see how they finally accept being together.
I so hope this is not the end of this series, as it is soooo good. I just can’t get enough of it. It is great to see tortured souls find happiness. I just love stories proving you should never give up on hope.
I LOVED Haven and Quade’s story!!! I loved Haven. I loved Quade. I loved learning their stories. I loved seeing old familiar faces. I loved absolutely everything about this latest Dark Protector installment. It was such a fast and fun ride.
But now I’m back in the waiting-for-the-next-new-Zanetti-release boat. Ugh! At least now I have Haven and Quade’s story to hold me over while I (patiently?) wait.
Thank you so much Rebecca. This book was such a joy to read.
***3 Stars***
This was one of those reads that I liked, and enjoyed, but despite loving the interactions between the characters and how much fun it was to watch Quade figure out this new world he found himself in, I just couldn’t get totally immersed in the story. It wasn’t the writing, or even not liking Haven or Quade, it just didn’t hook me. So, I’m putting it on the “it’s not you, it’s me” shelf. But, I’m not giving up on the series, because there are quite a few characters I need to know how their stories play out.

I have read all the Dark Protectors series and have loved every book.
Quade and his brothers made a vow to keep the worlds safe from Ulric. When Quade’s world fell apart, he figured his time was up and time for his final death. Haven had other ideas and even though she didn’t think he was real, she was determined to get him to safety. Once she got him out of that dangerous situation, they found out that the danger has just started.
Another great addition to the Dark Protector series.
I love this series! Hero’s Haven is an amazing addition and I cannot wait for the next. Quade and Haven are fantastic. I felt like their story has a little bit different feel than the rest of the series, but not in a bad way. Their chemistry feels a bit lighter and “humorous”, probably because he has been gone for so long. I really enjoyed it and am so looking forward to the next book!
Once Haven and Quade decided they weren’t delusional and insane, things started coming together in a wild way! Their snarky banter built up the sizzling attraction and delivered as promised!
I also loved seeing the Logan, Garrett, Dage, and Talen-haha, Talen is a complete throwback, but I love him to pieces! I’m now wondering who’s up next and what’s in store for this motley crew!
I loved Hero’s Haven. Rebecca wrote good strong characters. This book was non stop action.
