Defeated. Coward. Gutless. Weak. Perceptions define the man that I have become on the inside. The world may not see me this way, but this is who I am. Sullied. Contaminated. Worthless. Masked. The way I perceive myself affects every aspect of my life. The world may see a perfectly clean person, but on the inside, I am nothing but dirty and scarred. The world sees us one way. We see ourselves … world sees us one way.
We see ourselves another.
Perceptions are what we’ve given ourselves.
Perceptions of what we think we deserve.

Hero is the second book in the Unfit Hero series. This time it is Wyatt’s turn. He is Rylan’s cousin. Rylan’s story was Convict (Unfit Hero) Book 1.
I loved Wyatt in book 1. Wyatt helped his cousin Rylan who had just gotten out of prison. Wyatt helped Rylan in Convict. He gave freely to help Rylan, he helped him find a job, he helped Rylan and Channing. He is just a very nice man but a broken man. So when I read that Wyatt feels “Sullied. Contaminated. Worthless. Masked.” I couldn’t believe it.
Hero is Wyatt Johnson & Exeter White’s story. Wyatt meets Exeter at a Bar. And they have a one night stand. He should have gotten her number. They meet up again at an unexpected moment. Wyatt ends up wanting more from Exeter with Exeter running from wanting more from Wyatt. They are both broken and need each other!
I loved their story and can’t wait to start the next book Fraud. 4.5 stars
We meet Sammi and Wyatt at Wyatt’s HS Football game where they’re going to states. Sammi tells Wyatt she’s pregnant so Wyatt tells his parents and they’re totally on board. Wyatt plans to ask Sammi to marry him but Sammi is very sad and Wyatt goes to her house and unfortunately finds out Sammi had an abortion. He throws the ring into the grass and drives off. We meet Exeter, a 17 year old high school student who is pregnant but doesn’t know which of the two men she’s slept with is the father. She calls her friend, Emily and they go to an abortion clinic as Emily asks Exeter if the baby is Uncle David’s.
This book was so good. I highly recommend it. It was the second book by Ms. Faiman that I’ve read. I loved all the characters especially Wyatt, Exeter, Rylan and Channing.
Let’s start off by saying we really love this author and her works and we love anything she writes so we were so glad to get to read her latest story with Wyatt in this brand new series. After the first book we were already half in love with Wyatt’s character as he was such a great guy, a great friend and lent a helping hand to his cousin Ryland to get his life back on track.
This was an emotional tale for sure.Wyatt was a little bit broken and unlucky in love but, one thing he craves is what his cousin Ryland has and that is a family and the love of a good women.Wyatt was lonely and ready to settle down now he just found the perfect women if only he can convince Exeter to be his one and only.
Exeter comes from and abusive family and was raped repeatably for years but, after years of therapy she is working through her issues but, one thing she still feels is the shame and thinks she is dirty and worthless and no one could love a women like her long term as she still feels undeserving of a good man.
Exeter and Wyatt had amazing chemistry and were hotter than heck together and both shared a past that have left them a little bit broken but, Wyatt sees something in Exeter and knows she was special and meant to be his. This was one hot read with tons of super hot and sexy scenes. The story was also fast paced as Wyatt pretty much took their relationship warp speed and Exeter was just along for the ride.
Overall we loved this cast of characters and we loved that our favorites were revising with some of our favorites. My heart went out to both characters for the pain they suffered but, for Exeter my heart just bleed but, I loved that she didn’t let what happen to her ruin her life and she went on and pursued her dreams and with a whole lot of persistence and persuasion by Wyatt found the love and happiness she deserved.
We loved Wyatt and all his alpha-ness and how he pretty much steamed rolled Exeter in falling in love with him but, along the way he let go of his past and moved forward and is making his dreams of a family of his own a reality.
We loved this current installment in this on going series.
From page one this is a quick read, but one that packs quite an emotional punch, as a group of women are still dealing with years of abuse from those who should’ve protected them the most. Helping these women along the way are men with their own painful pasts, men who are perfectly imperfect, with a sweet and scorching romance the result. From the first page to the last this book ties up loose ends from the previous book while telling the heavy tale of Exeter and Wyatt. From erotically-charged encounters to moments of danger and suspense readers will find themselves captivated by drama in and out of the bedroom while setting up storylines for the future.
At a young age Exeter was forced into making an adult decision as her father’s abuse left her with no other options if she wanted to make an escape. She’s made a life for herself since then, graduated nursing school and living on her own, but the abuse has left her self-esteem bruised and the view she has of herself is negative. She sees herself as damaged and unworthy of real love which is why all she engages in is one night-stands. At least that’s all she used to engage in. The moment Wyatt Johnson introduced himself to her they’ve been inseparable as he becomes a man on a mission to claim her. Though he’s a bit domineering early on, it’s just the push Exeter needed to listen to her heart instead of all the negative thoughts in her head. Being with Wyatt was empowering to her, brought out a more decisive side to her too, a side that had her protecting herself when danger arrived on her doorstep once again. I was rooting for Exeter every step of the way as she rose high above all the horrible things that befell her when she was young. She started off timid and uncertain but became stronger-willed and more capable of speaking her desires out loud which made for even steamier storytelling. Her emotional growth was admirable with her friendship with other women (like Channing, Tulip, MawMaw, and Emily) another bright spot for its humor and strong sense of support as each overcame painful pasts to find richly rewarding HEAs.
Wyatt Johnson was on Cloud 9 the night his high school football team won the championship only to hit rock bottom with the discovery of his girlfriend’s pregnancy. Though he was thrilled by the news and had his own plans for their HEA, it was her decision that broke him and led to years of anger and feelings of not being good enough. He never wants to put his heart on the line ever again, become that caught up in another woman, and has been content with his numerous one night-stands ever since. The moment he sees Exeter though is the moment everything changes. It’s instant attraction with images of a future with her that drives him to claim her in this sizzling story of overcoming the past to make a future. Wyatt’s a strong-willed man with a domineering side that often comes out to play in and out of the bedroom. He sees Exeter’s fears and with surprising gentleness though he helps her work through the pain through his unwavering support and acceptance of her. She might see herself as damaged goods but he sees someone who’s a perfect match for him. While helping Exeter work through her issues he also works through his own, letting go of his guilt and anger, to allow himself to be happy in a subtle but powerful moment. Wyatt too has a close-knit group of friends who he can count on in moments of danger and their help is definitely needed during this story because of the truly vile villains inhabiting this tale. These villains didn’t get near the punishment they deserved though, especially with how much damage they left behind. There’s a strong bond between Wyatt and his cousin Rylan as he helped him find HEA with Channing and continues to help her stay safe throughout this book. He also relied on charming fighter Louis, the mysterious Ford, and Sheriff Robby with the glimpses I got of each of these men that have me now waiting with bated breath. His other friend Beaumont also left me wanting more as he’s a man clearly hurting, an alcoholic torn between duty and desperately wanting to be healed. Throughout most of the book Wyatt saw himself unworthy of love and HEA but through his words and deeds I found him to be an unforgettable, though a bit rough around the edges, hero.
This is a scorching tale from the very start, a fast-paced story that jumps right into the romance and danger that started with Rylan and Channing. Their story continues here, bubbling in the background, while Wyatt and Exeter take center stage in their emotionally intense instant connection that leads to oh so much more. Bdsm-lite scenes are balanced with sweet and sensitive interactions as Wyatt slowly learns more about Exeter’s painful past which helps him in convincing her to fight for a HEA with him. These two are bruised when we first meet them, but together they build each other up in a powerful romance full of twists and turns. Surrounding this compelling main couple was an equally engaging cast of secondary characters who captured my attention and have left me wanting more. They all have issues of their own though and as this series continues it promises to be one heckuva tearjerker that I’m greatly anticipating.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Wyatt Johnson happens to have a connection with the couple from book one in the Unfit Hero series. He seems to be a ladies man but as you get to know him you’ll find that’s not true. Exeter White doesn’t realize it but she has something in common with Wyatt. There were so many times that I wanted to yell at Exeter. I know it has to do with her past but her self-esteem seems to be almost nil. Wyatt is just what she needs but the page-turner moments are looking to see if she follows her head or her heart.
I would read Rylan’s story first because it bleeds into this current book. I didn’t mind that since Wyatt and Rylan seem to have a close relationship. Plus Exeter helps us in getting to know more of what’s going on with Channing. In some ways family is important to our characters.
It was interesting to see a man who grew up with uncertainties find a woman who could change that into certainties. Our author creates a story that seems so believable. Exeter’s story is something that could certainly be based on reality since sadly it is something that does happen. Back in the day it was a subject that wasn’t talked about and certainly never put into fiction. But it’s nice to see that when an author creates a work of fiction, they can show a great outcome to something that might be a painful reminder for some.
I think that this is one reason why I liked this book just a little more than Rylan’s. Exeter touched my heart. She’s not a woman who fits into a model’s body but can still catch a great guy. She also fought against what was done to her even though it took a while to do it. Some may thing that Wyatt is the hero of this story but Exeter is as well. Problem is that she has to believe in herself and in order to do that she needs Wyatt – he sees something in her that she doesn’t.
Usually I love to read the sneak peeks the author includes because it gets me excited about the next book coming out. This time, I said, “no, I’m not going to”. That was until I realized it was a short story – so I caved. Now the question becomes “will there be more?”
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This series just brings out all the feels!!! I love that although it’s a romance story, it really dives into some deep and difficult topics that most authors wouldn’t touch. The fact that Hayley broaches these topics and brings them to light makes her writing and stories that much better in my opinion. Wyatt and Exeter both have dealt with tragedy and difficulties within their past, and when they meet they experience some total insta-love. Even though they’ve both moved on from their difficult pasts, both still linger in each of their lives, and meeting each other causes them to fully deal with those pasts. As they process and handle making peace with their pasts, it isn’t an easy road for them especially with their relationship so new and knowing each other. The main concern throughout the book is if dealing with their pasts will break them or make them stronger. Per usual, I can’t get enough of Hayley’s books; from their originality to the way they both make you feel and think. I also love that she threw in a short story about Emily, although she left it somewhat open-ended so here’s to hoping we get the full story someday, but I’m more excited to hear from Beaumont next!

Oh man I was sooo excited to see Wyatt get a book. I loved him in the first book in this series and to see him and Exeter get the HEA they deserve after all they went through. There were ups and downs, happiness and sadness. I loved the plot. It was sad in parts and made me feel rage for Exeter but I loved seeing her stand up for her self and overcome her demons once and for all. Same with Wyatt. He overcame a lot too and that made me smile.
Awesome bonus short story at the end. I kinda wish it had been a full length story but it was short, sweet and too the point. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next. I have a feeling we know how the hero will be and maybe even the heroine….. but this author always surprises me so I look forward to seeing what she has up her sleeve. 4 stars #2OCCJD
WOW Hayley Faiman you have done it again everything you write is just amazing and sets my emotions ablaze . Hero is the second book of the Unfit hero series it can be read as a standalone but I would recommend that you start with Convict you run into some minor spoilers if you start with this one . My heart really broke for both the characters they have been through so much in there lives then when they find one another it’s so good between them . If you are looking for a book that will drive you crazy with emotion and also fanning oneself because holy smokes that was steamy . This is one of my favorites by the author and I can’t wait to read more by her in the future is she is new for you you really need to get on the Hayley Faiman tree .

In one word FANTASTIC by the next one in the Unfit Hero series by Hayley Faiman. I thought Convict was it for me when we saw a glimpse of Wyatt but dang. I loved that she created Exeter as unique, scared yet hopeful in better things to come. Love is definitely something these two didn’t expect but wow is all I have to say between these two. Wyatt may not be the typical blue eyed blond hero but wow he just became the hottest hero in my book the way he is with Exeter and her family. Hayley Faiman not only rocked in this book but shows us Channing and Rylan how far they have come. Cannot wait to see what she does with Beaumont, loved it.

Hayley Faiman does it again. She takes characters that are broken, battered and bruised and creates stories full of love, hope and happily ever afters…with a few bumps along the way. Wyatt and Exeter have pasts that they want to forget but have influenced the adults they are today. Their instant and intense attraction becomes something more and what follows is a love story full of some seriously sexy loving, sweetness and dealing with the past. I love that we spend time with the rest of the “family” and check in with all our favorite supporting characters! Cannot wait for our next Unfit Hero!

I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review
Emotional, gritty, raw, real, there is no better way to describe Hayley Faiman’s newest release Hero.
I had preconceived notions for this book, and Hayley blew them away in the first pages. Hero brings a high profile issue to the forefront but from two different perspectives. Wyatt has kept his struggles and heartache internal for years, while Exeter suffers quietly and alone. When the two meet, their similar histories force both to deal with the past.
Wyatt and Exeter’s story is a rebuilding of two broken spirits that I never wanted it to end.
So incredibly emotional and so beautifully romantic at the same time! Hayley Farman has once again totally stolen my heart with Hero. I could not get enough of Wyatt and Exeter. Hayley somehow managers to write this amazingly beautiful stories that are simultaneously heartbreaking and incredibly sweet combining realistic and intense emotions with swoon in a way that is utterly addictive.
Wyatt and Exeter both have deeply tragic histories that while vastly different hold one thing in common. While they both have mostly moved on their pasts, particularly Exeter’s continue to haunt them. As the connection that have grows into a deep passionate love the hurdles they have to overcome begin to grow creating a new depth to an already unputdownable read.
The short story at the end is the icing on the cake of this beyond five star read!
