The Hobbit meets Robin Hood: Men in Tights in this “slight” parody.Adventure. Excitement. Epik craves those things. In search of a father he’s never known and of magic he’s sure he’ll exhibit (once the timing is right), the young halfling moves to his local kingdom. There, Epik becomes the apprentice to the first wizard he meets – the only wizard left in the city. And for the first time in his … for the first time in his life, the halfling makes friends, most notably with a beautiful half-elf girl named Myra.
As a secret sect meet to plot the king’s demise, a family of mountain trolls threatens the city. And Epik sees the opportunity to do something, well, epic.
He must learn magic.
He must save the girl.
And he must protect the kingdom . . . Before it falls into the wrong hands.

Very good read
took awhile to get into the book and build empathy with the characters
Fun fantansy read reminded me of the Myth Inc. books.
real good read
Having a hard time even getting through it. it’s neither funny nor interesting.
The halfling Epik is looking for magic, and also looking for his lost father. The world has a number of puns and other humor that may appeal to fans of Xanth or the Myth series.
Likable characters, fast read. Have to get the next book in the series to see how Epik fares!
Put me in mind of Terry Pratchett’s Discworld
I DID NOT FINISH IT
A little to in depth.
The main character on this book is a twist on Tolkien’s hobbits. The book is a quick, fun read, but don’t expect deep meaning.
Enjoyed the book
BOOK IS PURE GARBAGE
This book started out great. It has some very witty references to The Hobbit among others things, but the story moves very slowly. About halfway through I was just skimming passages.
Definitely would not recommend this to anyone!
My 3 star rating is really no reflection on the story or the characters. I did not use good judgment when choosing the book. Better suited to young readers. Read one-half of the book.
So bad I bailed on page 92. Verbose prose – why use 1 word when 5 will do – the characters are lackluster and boring. Nothing makes any sense! In my entire life there are only 8 books that I started and didn’t finish. This is # 8. I was looking for something fun, this was not it.
Story didn’t stick to tried and abused scenarios. Had a couple of good twists.
Enjoy this book, wonderful story that kept me interested
The story was slow at the start, but eventually picked up pace so that you were surprised it was over. I really liked the halfling. I will probably read the next book.
