HERMy entire life has been “perfect” for as long as I can remember. A loving family, a boyfriend who adores me, and anything I wanted, I got. But it was all a lie, a façade. My family isn’t loving, my boyfriend is more interested in my body than my mind, and it turns out money can’t buy happiness.I’ve felt lost and stuck for far too long. Then, everything changed when I was least expecting it. It … expecting it. It wasn’t supposed to happen.
Not with…him.
HIM
I want to make one thing clear: I saw her first.
Not that it makes anything okay, but it’s true. The moment she walked into my line of sight, I knew she was something special. I could see past the mask she wore, could see right down to her soul.
I recognized instantly that she needed a friend…and it just so happens I did too. So, I wormed my way in. Took her out on the town, forced her from her solitary existence. Together we grew brave, stepped outside the boxes we’d been placed in. Walked a thin line between “just friends” and something more.
I just didn’t mean to fall in love with…her.
While technically part of the Here’s To series, this CAN be read as stand-alone as each book will follow a different couple.

Here’s to Yesterday is a romance, but also about two people finding happiness in, not just the relationship, but them as a whole. Does that make sense? I hope so.
Tucker and Maura are complicated but when is love not complicated. There is the one issue that Maura was dating his brother. But whatever, I didn’t like Tanner anyway. I know, I’m horrible. But he didn’t deserve her anyway. Now, this isn’t a cheating story. Maybe emotionally, but it was obvious they couldn’t just be friends.
Though I didn’t connect with Tucker and Maura on a deeper level. I still really enjoyed this. I loved that Hunter took the time with these characters. They were coming into their own. In a sense, they needed each other to get there, even if they were apart. This is an excellent series, and I’m glad that I jumped into it. Hunter’s writing style really is beautiful. And the things these characters say to each other. Make you want to melt
Overall, Four Boundless Stars
Spoilers ahead! My feelings about Here’s to Yesterday are so, so very messy. It shouldn’t be totally surprising though, because the book itself was messy. I mean, not the writing or anything. But the hero in love with his brother’s girlfriend. The heroine having very real feelings for the brother who isn’t her boyfriend. Confused yet?
I’m all for some friends first love, so obviously I was all about Tucker and Maura. They were just so obviously meant to be together. The only problem was Tanner, Tucker’s brother and Maura’s boyfriend. Love triangles aren’t in my no-fly zone if they’re done right and I thought this one was decent. My biggest issue was that I have a problem with the demonizing of a previously good character to make the choice easier. That said, I guess we really don’t KNOW Tanner was a good guy before or that he treated Maura well. But it certainly seemed that way. The drastic change felt a little too convenient and the THING that happens maybe didn’t need to? But, it’s not my story to tell.
Aside from those small issues, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I adored Maura and her journey was so relatable. Tucker was such a sweet guy. I shipped them early on, even if it wasn’t really right.
FAVORITE QUOTES
“Be you. Make you happy. Fuck everyone else. Be. Happy.”
I guess now is the time to hold on to one another. Now is the time to tell each other how we feel, because we don’t know if we’ll get to tomorrow. But sometimes, something so terrible happens that the yesterdays don’t matter, the tomorrows don’t exist, and the now is nothing but pain and heartache.
This is book two in the Here’s To series but it can be read as a standalone. This is Maura’s story. If you read Here’s to Tomorrow then you have already met Maura. So the blurb starts with “You’re not supposed to fall in love with your boyfriend’s brother…” I was kind of like oh I don’t know if I’m going to like this one. Knowing it has Maura it it I know the boys characters would be Tanner and Tucker and wondered how the transition from one to the other was going to go. I wasn’t totally sold on the story line from the blurb. I jumped into this one with low hopes and I was just hoping to get a little more view of Hudson and Rea. I was pleasantly surprised on how much I liked this story. If was perfectly written and I really enjoyed it.
I was pleasantly surprised by the book. Here’s to Yesterday is more than about falling in love with your boyfriend’s brother. It’s a powerful story about stepping outside your comfort zone and being brave to follow your heart instead of conforming to other people’s expectations.
I was expecting a lot of angst and judgement just like any other love triangle book. However, I love Taegan’s way on handling a very well-used storyline. Instead of focusing majorly on Tucker and Maura’s turmoil and guilt, the story brought out their friendship and trust that they built while they were trying to fight against their attraction towards each other. Both main characters were very likeable and the supporting characters were well placed. There were some laughing moments, some frustrating moments and some tearful moments.
Overall, I really enjoyed this well-balanced and engaging story and would recommend it to others.
This is my favorite book in this series…. but be warned… this story isn’t always sweet and pretty.
I’m still speachless, because for me this book has inside a lot of more history than, You’ll read on the cover.
We know Maura and Tucker from the first books this series.
They seems to be cool and fun…. They started from hate, then friendship go by… but when You look closely You’ll see broken souls and hearts. They try not to fall for each other, because they can’t… There’s always Tanner behind them, no matter what….
When I was startnig this book, I didn’t expect what this story give me…. really
What “hit me” literaly the most ???
That this book isn’t only about love between man and woman… this story is also about love between children and their parents…. and how much lack of feelings can take people to wrong choices in Your life…
Yes, this book is definetly worth Your time.
Teagan Hunter is a fairly new-to-me author. I’m always on the hunt for new authors that I really enjoy their writing, so I happily jumped right in.
Here’s to Tomorrow is book 1 of the series and is Rae and Hudson’s story. At least, the biggest chunk of their story. (The Here’s to Forever novella is the rest of their story.) Rae has just graduated from college and is ready to move from her small town into the big city. Hudson is a single father. He became a father when he was 16, and it’s been a tough road to travel. But he’s got an amazing young daughter that he loves with all his heart. Rae is a social butterfly with no filter. Hudson is reserved because of his past. But somehow… they work. Until a huge secret from Rae’s past leads to a near tragedy and threatens to pull them apart… permanently.
Here’s to Yesterday is book 2 and is Maura and Tucker’s story. Maura is the neglected daughter of a very wealthy mother and father. She’s been dating Tanner for a while, but the spark is gone. Tucker is her boyfriend’s brother. A broody musician by night, who works for his best friend during the day. Both have big secrets. Both are trying to keep their friendship on the up and up. But when truths are revealed, can they make it work?
Here’s to Forever is book 2.5 in the series and the wrap-up of Hudson and Rae’s story. Hudson has been hiding something from Rae for a year. And it’s a BIG something. When she uncovers his dishonesty, will it tear them apart, again… for good? Or can they repair their relationship and move forward?
Here’s to Now is book 3 in the series and the final book (so far???). It is Haley and Gaige’s story. Haley is Rae’s older sister and Gaige is best friends with Hudson and Tucker. They meet and become good friends. Best friends. Only no one but the two of them knows about their friendship. But Haley disappears from his life without a word… only to reappear months later out of the blue. He’s so drawn to her, so attracted to her, he’s OK with picking up where they left off. And then some. He’s got a sordid past. She’s haunted by things, too. Is it too much for them to work through, or will love win out over all their troubles?
Straight up honesty here… I didn’t expect to enjoy this series as much as I did. Maybe it’s because I’ve been a reviewer for almost 2 years, and the market seems to be over-flooding with romance books daily. Or maybe it’s because it’s been an insane few weeks, and I’ve found that my real life and how I’m dealing (or not dealing with it) does sometimes affect how I view a story. And both reasons are purely my own. Sometimes I get really jaded because I read so many books now. And some are fabulous. But lately, many of them seem to fall flat. That was not the case with this series, I’m very happy to report!
I think of all the books, Gaige and Haley’s story is my favorite. And it’s kind of hard to name favorites in this series! All of the stories are great. Ms. Hunter writes her characters in a way that draws you in and makes you connect with them from the very beginning. And leaves you truly wanting more. More from each couple, and more from the group as a whole. But my heart went out to Gaige and Haley the most. They had so much to work through from their pasts. So much to overcome… both separately and as a couple. Spoiler alert: each book is an HEA, though!
NICUnurse’s Rating: I have to give this series 4.75 stars. It has lovable, yet relatable characters, great world/relationship building, and wonderful writing. I highly recommend this series if you love contemporary romance. The books are engaging and page-turning. And now I’m searching Amazon for more of Teagan Hunter’s books!
I will say this Teagan Hunter has me loving this series and will admit never liked Tanner. Tucker has a musicians soul that enchants you with his voice and hello his soulful eyes. The attraction between him and Maura is more than sexual chemistry but like two souls reuniting. Ever since we saw a little of Tucker in Hudson’s story we see more of the man Tucker is supposed to be and crazy about it. Maura we finally see a woman who is well finally breaking out of her shell and happy to see how Tucker completes her in every way. Cannot wait to see who is next in this series awesome job Teagan Hunter.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
The Here’s To series is shaping up to be an entertaining ride of ever changing emotions and irresistible people. Teagan Hunter appeals to what makes us most human. Whether it be insecurities or responsibilities, she connects with readers on a deeper level. What I find to be most refreshing is she never loses the wit and charm that lights up every tale. Here’s To Yesterday is Maura and Tucker’s story. Sometimes what we thought we wanted becomes what we never intended it to be. Maura is making her way out of the shadows and finding her place within the light. Tucker is the life of the party, but wishes for more than just a jolly good time. Amidst the complications of life, love and heartache emerges a love story that makes it’s mark on the heart.
