Following the death of his ten-year-old son, physician Peter Croft embarks on a desperate, seemingly random search for a missing child, risking his sanity, even his life in a grief-induced quest. His journey propels him into the darkest reaches of human suffering and pits him squarely against an adversary whose own obsession defies all reason.
Here After is a story of love, loss, obsession and … obsession and redemption, with gripping action sequences and a subtle paranormal underpinning. A compelling read from a seasoned storyteller, Costello’s sixth novel will keep you reading deep into the night.
Here After has been optioned for film by David Hackl, director of Saw V.

This was a fast paced awesome read. Hard to put down. Highly recommend.
Excellent book. Sean’s best work since Squall. Well worth reading.
First let me say Sean Costello is one of my favorite authors.I truly love his style of writing and this book is awsome …
Peter Croft is an anesthesiologist at a local hospital whom had lost his wife and now a few years later he sits in the hospital bed holding his little son as he takes his last breaths. Not wanting to give anything away… When Peter returns to work he is in the cafeteria eating and notices a missing child poster. Given time Peter joins a support group and meets Roger whom had a missing child, when Peter see a photo of Jason Rogers son Peter is taken back to the missing child poster and shocked at how much Jason looks like the boy on the poster. This book will keep you up most of the night on the edge of your seat you might shed a few tears. This book is great from the first page to the last.
A tense thriller right up to the last page!
What starts off as a simple, nonetheless disturbing, missing child case rapidly transforms into something much more sinister. Three children suddenly go missing, all of them remarkably similar in appearance.
Lead character Peter Croft, who has lost his son to a fatal illness, finds himself compelled to solve the case after the ghostly apparition of his deceased son starts giving him signs from the grave.
Peter teams up with a police detective, an unhinged man in search of his missing son, and a psychic, to try and get to the bottom of the mysterious case. What they discover as they near the shocking truth behind the multiple disappearances is they’ve underestimated the calculating criminal mind, callousness, and sheer brute force of the abductor.
But there is much more to Sean Costello’s Here After than hair-raising cat-and-mouse games. He expertly weaves together supernatural elements, deeply flawed but likable characters, and action-packed sequences into a compelling page-turner.
At its core, Here After is an insightful and sensitive examination of the depth of love a father has for his son. In heart-wrenching detail, it explores the levels of violence a grief-stricken man is prepared to sink to while clinging to the faint hope of finding his long-lost son alive.
When it comes to protecting family, are men capable of murder? Read Here After and find out.
This book was definitely a page-Turner. Great characters, both good and bad. Lots of twists and turns. Loved the supernatural aspect to the story. Stayed up late a couple nights to read it, was worth it!! Following author and will read more of his!
This was a completely different story than what I expected after the first chapter. There is death, grief and hopefully redemption. Once the story gets going it doesn’t stop. It is very suspenseful and keeps you guessing. Then you can’t put it down.
Entertaining. A quick read and a nice little escape from reality.
I love all Costello’s books!
