Miss Maryann Fitzwilliam is too witty and bookish for her own good. No gentleman of the ton will marry her, so her parents arrange for her to wed a man old enough to be her father. But Maryann is ready to use those wits to turn herself into a sinful wallflower. When the scandal sheet reports a sighting of Nicolas St. Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, climbing out the chamber windows of a house … windows of a house party, Maryann does the unthinkable. She anonymously claims that the bedchamber belonged to none other than Miss Fitzwilliam, tarnishing her own reputation—and chances of the dastardly union her family secured for her. Now she just needs to convince the marquess to keep his silence.
Turns out Nicolas allows for the scandal to perpetuate for his own reasons… But when Maryann’s parents hold fast to their arranged marriage plan, it’ll take a scandal of epic proportions for these two to get out of this together.

Wow! This is another book I have enjoyed by Stacy Reid. It is about Maryann who her parents have arranged a marriage for her with a man who is her father’s age. She does not want to marry him, so she figures she would start a rumor so he will back out of the arrangement. Nicolas has a reputation of being a rake, Maryann starts the rumor that Nicholas was seen climbing out of her bedroom window. Whenever Nicolas is with Maryann, he is not a rake, he is a gentleman. There was a mystery in the book, which I will not give away, but it enhanced my enjoyment of this book.
I received a copy of this book by Netgalley for my honest opinion.
“You speak your thoughts so boldly. Is there nothing you are afraid of?”
“I am afraid of years from now looking back on my life and feeling the keenest of regret that I had not lived. Of never feeling again the way I feel with you.”
Revenge…that one constant thirst for revenge against those that caused harm to his first love is what has shaped Nicholas Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, into the man he is today. Nicholas is playing the long game in his quest for vengeance, and in doing so, has developed quite the reputation for being a rake throughout the ton. This reputation is the very thing that has kept the eyes of those he means to ruin off his plan for retaliation…but when bumps into an intriguing “wallflower” by the name of Maryann FitzWilliam, Nicholas begins to wonder if he’s finally met someone who can bring life back to his long dead soul…if he’s ready to remove the mask and set aside his vengeance and replace it with a love worth forgiveness…
Miss Maryann FitzWilliam will not be forced to wed the odious man her parents have picked. Devising a plan with her fellow “wallflowers”, Maryann plots to be most sinful and starts a rumor that she was the innocent that the rakish Marquess of Rothbury stole kisses from after sneaking into her bedroom window. With the ton spreading the rumor, Maryann is confident that she will be free to live her life without the constraints of a husband. But the one thing Maryann hadn’t counted on was the Marquess actually sneaking into her bedroom…or the intense feelings she would develop for him…
Nicholas and Maryann’s story is a slow burn romance, and dearest reader, I so very much loved it! Heartfelt at times, soul crushing at others and so verra verra smexxy, Her Wicked Marquess is a must read for fans of this genre! Loved and highly recommend!

Wow!! This book was fantastic! Stacy Reid is a new author for me and I am hooked! This book had it all. I found myself smiling and unable to put it down from the very beginning! The characters had such depth and chemistry it was incendiary. They were extremely charismatic, especially the heroin Maryann. I constantly found myself smiling while reading. The plot was original and for the first time in a while there was a plot twist I didn’t see coming! Definitely a five star read and can’t wait to dive into her other books.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
i was actually taking a break (like a month, not more) from historical romances, but who can say no to a Stacy Reid book?! Certainly not me and I’m so happy that I didn’t. This book became instantly my favorite. The characters are amazing. Nicolas is the best book boyfriend that can ever exist and Maryann is the best friend that you didn’t know you needed.
This is not a light story. Nicolas’ back story is based on a shocking incident that to be honest, upset me and devastated me. But the strength that the main characters showed throughout the book, helped me keep reading and in the end I was really happy and excited with everything.
I believe the Sinful Wallflowers is gonna be my favorite series. The first book is awesome, the second one amazing, I just can’t wait for the rest wallflowers to get their stories!!!
I received an Arc from #EntangledPublishing #NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I’ve read many of Stacy Reid’s wonderful books and I must say, this is one of her best! There is so much heart and emotion in her writing of this story. The two main characters, Maryann and Nicolas, now have a special place in my heart. Two souls who find each other amidst danger and revenge.
Nicolas has only one thing on his mind….revenge on those who had committed an atrocious act on a young woman he had grew up with and loved. Bringing ruin to these men is all he cares about. Until a Wallflower named Maryann catches his eye and he can’t help but be completely amazed by her, her daring, her heat, her intelligence and her innocence. He needs to stay away from her, though, because his enemies will target her if they know they are involved. Easier said than done!! I really did love everything about this story!

I was really looking forward to reading Her Wicked Marquess by Stacy Reid. I even anticipated adding this author to my list of go-to historical romance authors, so imagine my disappointment in what ended up being a 2-star read for me.
I do want to mention the potential this book had. Obviously the synopsis intrigued me, and Maryann and Nicolas could have been so great. Maryann especially was a type of heroine that I usually adore. Unfortunately, this story and characters did not work for me.
Maryann herself was quite annoying. Her inner dialogue as well as her spoken words and phrasing made me cringe or roll my eyes more often than not. Based on that and her immaturity about certain things, I felt her age seemed closer to 18 than 23. Nicolas barely captured my attention at all, and I certainly had no interest in the secondary characters.
Furthermore, I sensed zero connection and chemistry between Nicolas and Maryann for over half of the book. The conversations and encounters between them were stilted and awkward (as was the case for conversations and encounters between all the characters in general).
It wasn’t until the 75% (probably closer to 80%) mark that I started feeling some connection between Maryann and Nicolas and interest in Nicolas’ revenge scheme. At that point, it was too little too late, although it did bring the story from 1 star to 2.
I had such great hopes for this book and author, but I guess I should have stuck with my tried-and-trues.

Stacy Reid does not disappoint! Her Wicked Marquess is a deliciously romantic and captivatingly witty hard to put down book. It is the story of Nicolas St. Ives, the Marquess of Rothbury, who devotes his life to seeing justice is served for harm done to his friend. He comes across Miss MaryAnn Fitzwilliam, a wallflower, that is chatty, opinionated, and looking to be ruined. What do you get when you mix an extremely handsome lord with an understated beauty? It is pure dynamite! I would definitely recommend this book!
I was given this book by Netgalley for an honest review. They in no way influenced my opinions.
