SHE NEEDED A HEROMarcia Price realized she was in the hands of a monster as she was dragged deeper and deeper into the jungle. Navy SEAL, Dante “Zed” Zaragoza knew Marcia’s fate was intertwined with his the moment he saw her photo. Instinct told him that she was alive for the moment, but his blood turned to ice as soon as he found out the history of the man who had Marcia in his grip. The monster wasn’t just a sociopath, he’d been trained as a SEAL. And that was only the beginning. Zed and the Black Dawn SEAL team would need to move heaven and earth to bring Marcia out of there alive.

This is a perfect read to me. Grabbed me on the 1st page and kept me flying thru to the very end without stopping. There is so, so much packed in Her Wicked Hero!
I love Ms O’Leary’s heroes, all alphas with hearts of gold and kickass heroines that make them even better.
Without any spoilers, I will just say there is never a dull moment in the journey that is Zed and Marcia’s. It gives you all the feels!!!
The whole plot is complex and neatly connects with some very hot, familiar characters.
Pretty freaking cool, Ms. O’Leary, always throwing us for a loop.
This is a stand alone, but it’s a guarantee you’ll want to read all the rest and beg for more!
Received an ARC and am freely giving my honest opinion of this book.
A recommend from me
A retired NSA and his family with others have been kidnapped off of a boat and held for ransom by some VERY mean lowlife men with NO Honor. An elite SEAL team have been sent in to get them out they got everybody except Marsha who has been pretending to be the NSA’s oldest daughter or she would have been killed immediately. This is the very basic beginning to a very romantic suspenseful mystery thriller that I just could not put down. I was given this and I voluntarily leave this review.
Caitlyn O’Leary is one of my favorite authors. Her newest book Her Wicked Hero is her best writing yet. I fell in love with Zed in chapter 1, and Zed fell in love with Marcia with just one picture. I loved the chemistry between Zed & Marcia. They were both so life like. Zed is an absolute sweetheart, and Marcia is a strong, feisty woman. Add in all of the Black Dawn & Night Storm teammates and you have the makings of an amazing adventure.
This book opens in the jungle with a hostage situation. Several very prominent people are being held. One of them former NSA Director Harold Brockman and his children. One of the problems is that their yacht has been blown up, making rescue unlikely. That is until the director fakes a seizure and they let his daughter search for an EpiPen. In reality she is looking for a watch that shields a homing device, it will alert the correct people of their whereabouts thus dispelling any thoughts that they are all dead in the explosion.
As the team prepares for rescue our hero Zed sees a photo of Marcia. That photo has him itching to get on with the mission. That woman was his, she just doesn’t know it yet.
The mercenaries think Marcia is the oldest of the three Brockman daughters and was playing the role to keep herself safe.
Unfortunately for her when the team arrives she was away from their hut with the youngest daughter at the makeshift latrine. Taken by Raymond, one of the most vile of the mercenaries, she needs to stay alive and after her sarcastic comments earn her a backhand from him that leaves her seeing stars she realizes she needs to be subservient, no matter how hard it is.
As the hostages are being airlifted out, Zed starts his search for her.
In the aftermath of the rescue it becomes apparent that Raymond is obsessed with Marcia.
Plenty of drama and hold your breath moments as Zed and Marcia get to know one another.
I love smart, strong women, and Marcia fills that role to a tee in spite of her insecurities, relationship wise. Zed has his hands full with her and I loved watching him pull her out of her shell.
I loved Zed’s team and since I started this series at the end instead of the beginning I now have to go back and read the rest.
Emotional, sometimes scary, action packed, with sweet yet sizzling sex and some giggles make this book a must read.
Another breathtaking winner by Ms. O’Leary. She shoves you right into the thick of a rescue turned hostage situation. Not some sterile bank, no. This is the cruel jungle with the only thing more dangerous the man who has taken her. The action is non stop. Just when you think things can’t get worse–yep–they do.
Marcie is a caregiver. Not by profession by the heart. This time, she’s the one in need. Zed/Dante sees her picture and KNOWS she is going to be important to him. First, he has to get her away from the enemy who is not only evil but a former SEAL.
Zed has his work cut out to convince Marcia she is worthy of special feelings and treatment. Her past has taught her differently. Since she isn’t free and clear of the danger he has to convince her to trust him with her safety before she’ll trust her heart to him.
As always, the author gives us a team of men who have to trust each other with their lives and the lives of the people they love. We’ve met some of them before and checking in is an added bonus. However, this books stands on its own. Be prepared for danger, vicious bad guys, steam, and non-stop action. (A little suggestion: Don’t think you’ll just read a couple of chapters before going to sleep. Not gonna work. Once you start it you won’t want to put it down.)
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Caitlyn O’Leary you tell one mean story! Meaning I loved it!
Her Wicked Hero is the 4 book in the Black Dawn Series. I am usually not attracted to military romance books to read. But, when I saw the “blurb” I thought that this is a book that I would like to read. I had already read Book 2 Her Devoted Hero and I can attest to that you can read each of these books as a standalone. And, I stole this phrase from another author and I wish I could remember who it was that said it so I could give her credit. But, it is a true statement.
“Though it isn’t necessary to read the other books, your experience will be enhanced if you do.”
When bad things happen to you it can usually speed up the falling in love process. Master Chief Petty Officer Dante
“Zed” Zaragoza and he is a SEAL that is set on rescuing Marcia Price after she is kidnapped by a monster and dragged through the jungle. Thank goodness Marcia is good at improvising and she must have nerves of steel. She keeps calm when all H**L is breaking out around her.
This is now my third book that I have read by Caitlyn O’Leary and I will keep coming back to read more.
Her Wicked Hero is a fabulous romantic suspense by Caitlyn O’Leary. Ms. O’Leary has provided readers with a well-written book furnished with a phenomenal collection of characters. Marcia is traveling with her adopted family when they are kidnapped. Zed’s SEAL team was sent on a mission to retrieve them. When Marcia is carted off by a single man, Zed is right behind them while the rest of his team takes care of the rest of the family. Zed and Marcia’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. This book held me hostage from the first page to the last. I loved it. Her Wicked Hero is book 4 of the Black Dawn Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The first eight chapters of Her Wicked Hero are jam packed with excitement, dznger and action. Definitely edge of your seat moments. Sadistic mercenaries, mistaken identities, kidnappings along with a surprising realization make the book the best in a reading experience. Marcia Price and Dante “Zed” Zaragoza are thrown together under harrowing circumstances. He started falling just looking at her picture in his mission folder. She has a fiery temper, is a caregiver and a nurturerer. She can’t believe he would want her. She’s nothing special. She couldn’t be more wrong because in his eyes and heart she’s the woman he’s longed for.
Despite villains around every corner, this is a glorious romance! The characters are fully developed, the plot is complex, the dialogue is realistic, and the humorous streaks are great fun. The petite, feisty caregiver and the neanderthal man meet in a jungle after Marcia is kidnapped. Can Zed rescue her and then keep her safe forever? Not if the bad guys have anything to say about it!
Warning: Foul language & R-rated sex scenes. The story would have been 5-stars without them.
Well written book and love the characters. The fast-paced action makes this a page-turner. I highly recommend this book.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4. The book overall was a good story. It has a little bit of everything – sweet moments, fan your face steam, dangerous heart stopping action, painful pasts, strong family and friendships, and even some chuckles. This is book 4 in the Black Dawn series. Marcia has been kidnapped with a number of other important people. They are being held in Borneo in the jungle. Zed and his team are sent into rescue the group. Unfortunately, Marcia is dragged off during the rescue by one of the kidnappers. Zed gives chase to rescue Marcia who he believes is meant to be his based on his sixth sense. The danger follows them home. Zed and Marcia’s love story tries to give the reader all the feels – fear, redemption, tears, chuckles, gasps, swooning, and overprotective love. Unfortunately, the story arc of Zed and Marcia’s HEA was a bit choppy due to pacing issues, a lack of clarity about who the bad guys were, and the dialogue being stilted at times. So while I knew what the author was going firm the feelings just weren’t very palpable for me. Despite the issues with the story, I’ll probably read more by this author.
“Her Wicked Hero” is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it definitely won’t be the last. I understand that it’s book four in the Black Dawn series but my lack of familiarity with those other books had no effect on my ability to enjoy it.
This book literally grabs you at the first paragraph and never let’s go cover right to the very end. It’s well-written and effectively blends together strong main characters, an interesting plot, compassion and passion, and respectful acknowledgement of the fact that there are terrible things and wonderful things in life that we’ll never quite understand. I definitely enjoyed this story.
Books 1-3 of the Caitlyn O’ Leary’s Black Dawn series were Full of really hot romance and edge of your seat suspense. Her Wicked Hero ,book 4 in the series, continues in the same manner. However, spoiler alert, in this novel, Caitlyn throws in a little psychic abilities making this Navy SEAL hero a bit more super then the rest of the teams. There is a lot more interaction and coordination between both East coast and West coast SEALs which in my opinion ups the suspense a notch or two. Because of Caitlyn exceptional skill with descriptive wording, I felt as though I was right there in the jungle with the team. I was holding my breath waiting for the bad guys to make their move and cheering when the hero succeeded in rescuing the woman he loved. Again, the love scenes made me melt but lovemaking only served to enhance the story line, never overpower it. As usual, Caitlyn O’Leary’s characters were real, believable ,and relatable. Her plot was riveting and exciting. The suspense and mystery grabbed you on the first page and held on to you through twist and turns to very end. I loved every minute I spent reading this book.
I love all of Caitlyn’s teams. Zed is very cool and mysterious. We finally get to know his backstory and how he connects to Hunter. I also love Marcia because she is so brave and cool. She is the perfect foil to Zed. Although I did the move to CA a bit hypocritical. Basically this is yet another Caitlyn O’Leary book with a fiercely loyal amazing seal and a heroine who isn’t an annoying shrinking violet and stands up for those she loves.
It is a must read, very good.
I love these seal books first because wherever they are they described the vicinity and sometimes they talk about the people that inhibit the area. Also they are full of action and romance.
Your typical macho story
This was an awesome book. There was so much character and fun, witty and dangerous in this book. Zed is your typical alpha protector. Marcia went to live with her father’s best friend and their family when her parents were killed in a wreck. So when her benefactor was targeted she was with him and his two daughters when they were kidnapped. Even in the worst circumstances Marcia has a wicked since of humor. Her and Zed are a definite match. Excellent job of writing this book. HEA
I loved this book! It is action packed and super hot. It also has a strong female character. Navy SEAL Zed Zaragoza is prepping for a mission and sees the picture of one of the hostages, Marcia Price, and knows she is the other part of his soul. Marcia is being held hostage with the man who took her into his family when she was orphaned 15 years old and 2 of his children. Her pseudo father is the former director at NSA and Marcia is able to activate a beacon so they can be located. During the rescue Marcis is kidnapped again by the worst of the bad guys, Raymond. He drags her through the jungle and she’s able to outsmart him and get away and Zed finds her. After another encounter Raymond where Zed is shot but they are rescued things are still not over Raymond doesn’t like strong women and keeps coming after Marcia. It’s now up to Zed and his SEAL tam to keep Marcia safe.
