Don’t go looking for the monsters in the shadows. They will find you.The young doctor in the ER thought she saved my life. I repaid her kindness by stealing her away from everything she knew. My true north.Katarina Donovan was good and pure, and so, so human. … Donovan was good and pure, and so, so human. And then she met me.
Note: Her Vampire Hero is a standalone romance by Nicolina Martin starring a dominant vampire and the human he comes to crave. No cheating, HEA guaranteed. It is book three in the Midnight Doms series, a spinoff of Renee Rose and Lee Savino’s bestselling Bad Boy Alpha series. The previous books are Her Vampire Master by Maren Smith, and Her Vampire Prince by Ines Johnson. These books can all be read in any order.

Two things hit me right from the start. This is the first book I have read by this autbor, and, I am not a big vampire fan.
I was pleasantly surprised. I started this book and was immediately hooked. I have grudgingly read vampire romances before, but This one felt very different to me. It was more than someone just running around at night, draining people of their blood, and hiding from the light.
Lou and Kay were so drawn to each other. I felt kind of sorry for Kay because her existence seemed so lonely before Lou. Lou seemed so damaged when he met Kay. He gradually started to heal as Kay was drawn more into his world.
This book is full of suspense, betrayal, vampire magic, and some action. I wasn’t sure if Lou was a Dom or not. Sometimes he seemed to be, and he and Kay played. Other times, I thought his behaviour was because he was a 3000 year old vampire.
The characters and the storyline were interesting. There was romance, some steam, and the inevitable HEA. This was an enjoyable read. Vampires are still not on my hit list of genre’s, but this wasn’t bad at all.
I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.
This book is Hot and steamy and emotional and fantastical and honest and I absolutely enjoyed reading it.
Lucius Frangelico gets a visitor at Club Toxic.
And he is not alone. He brings with him a medical doctor that saw too much. This ancient vampire has an unfortunate, or fortunate, encounter with an ER doctor. What follows is a tale of a, in spite of his age, relatively humane vamp and a woman that needs no coercion to fall for him.
Fighting vengeful shifters and vampires to stay “alive”, he takes care of his human companion at the same time and those two develop a bond that is beautiful to watch and oh so scorching to read.
This is a delicious addition to the series.
Katarina and her vampire were a treat to read. The dominant vampire had some interesting ideals for his Katarina and its sizzling andI enjoyed the story plot. Hot vampire love and the human woman he possesses over what a wild journey.

I am getting really good at finding great books! Nicolina Martin delivers a unicorn here: a complete story with just the right amount of conflict and angst to keep me sucked in (ha ha, sorry) but not enough to make me feel emotionally blackmailed or in need of a recovery read. Safe: it didn’t touch my hair cheating/other woman drama trigger. It is long enough to have a fully developed story, but short enough to let you get a couple of hours sleep when you can’t put it down until it’s finished. People who find it unlikely someone would go all in with someone they don’t know well will have to take the word of someone who has: it happens, and sometimes it works out.
I admit that I am a huge fan of Nicolina so I was delighted to see that she had a new book out. Generally Nicolina’s books are contemporary erotic, dark and sometimes violent crime thrillers, with strong leading characters one can become invested in from the first page. I wondered how I would feel about this venture into erotic fantasy and I wasn’t disappointed. Lou is an ancient vampire who cannot remember being turned except that he suffered for generations and therefore has sworn to never do that to another human. Kat is a dedicated A&E doctor who has to pronounce him ‘dead’ when he comes into her casualty department having been set upon, of course he will wake up. Essentially this is a very romantic love story, no spoilers here, read the book it’s fabulous and I loved every word. Five big gold stars from me.
What I really enjoyed about Her Vampire Hero is how much it made me think about life for a vampire. Lou is old, so very old, and his long experience makes him reluctant to have anything to do with Kat, the ER doctor who inadvertently witnesses his revival from a dangerously comatose state. After her discoveries and interest in him put her in danger from other vampires, Lou finds himself claiming Kat as his pet and servant to his whims.
Kat is somewhat naively interested in the vampire life but also chafes against the restrictions Lou is making her live with. But those restrictions are there to protect Kat, who doesn’t realize the risks she’s facing from fellow vampires. After all, when you’ve lived for thousands of years, vampires like Lou make enemies.
Kat is a great character—she’s smart, she realizes very quickly the situations she’s facing are not safe, and she adapts well to the changed realities she faces. Lou has this marvelous aged ennui about him that is completely revivified by Kat’s kindness and humanity. These two worked so well together as a couple, and I loved reading their interactions. But they aren’t perfect, and their imperfections grew out of their characters, which is the best kind of plot development in a romance. The problems that arise between them didn’t seem forced because the Plot Needed Tension.
There’s a nice return of characters like Selene and Lucius from the Bad Boy Alpha series by Renee Rose and Lee Savino. It was especially great to see the growth in Selene, who was a unique character in that earlier series.
There were some drawbacks to Her Vampire Hero. I thought Kat adapted way too quickly to the lifestyle Lou made for her. It felt strange, considering the drive she had to be a doctor and the compassion she had for others, that she went into a completely new life with little to no mention of her previous one after a quick visit to her apartment for clothes and one note to her parents. And I didn’t understand why it took Lou so long to find his own new home when he needed one. That did seem a bit like a plot manufacture to drive things along in a certain way.
Martin has an assured writing style, and her ability to build character is really marvelous. Her Vampire Hero gripped me from the start and didn’t let go until the last page was turned.
“Her Vampire Hero” is the fourth book in the Midnight Doms series. Each book is written by a different author but set in the same world. This book, is no exception to the others since it is a compliment to the original author’s books.
The books are stand alone reads but if, you read the series your experience will be enhanced and you will enjoy meeting characters from previous stories. Lee Savino and Renee Rose are gifted story tellers and you will enjoy all the stories.
Nicolina Martin is a new author for me, she has talent and creates beautiful characters and new twists that are different from most Vampire romances. I will definitely be looking for more of her books.
Kat is a Doctor in the ER, who works long hours because her life revolves around studying and working. She is professional, intelligent and one night, the patient is a handsome man tagged as DOA, but he isn’t dead. She feels compassion for him and cannot let him die. Lou is a very old Vampire, he was badly wounded by an enemy, taken to the hospital and as he lies there without a heart beat, he smells something pure and wonderful. He opens his eyes to see Kat and he knows he has to have her. From this moment, the story takes off – Lou is the perfect Vampire, charming, deadly and will do whatever to protect his woman. Kat finds herself, in a new world and begins to learn about it. The chemistry between them is there from the start and their connection is strong but there cannot be a forever between a Vampire and a human. Or can there? Lou doesn’t want to turn her because he loves her so deeply and doesn’t want to take her life. She wants him and accepts that she wants the life of a Vampire, so they can be together. They struggle with these feelings and when they act, their consequences are far reaching in the results of their relationship.
Nicolina Martin gives us plenty of danger, kidnapping, intrigue, secrets, HOT sexy scenes, Alpha men, some BDSM elements and hot romance. The sex appeal and tension between Lou and Kat is electric!!
I am truly loving the Midnight Dom series and enjoyed this story!
Man shows up in ER. ER doc feels emotional over the loss. And then things change. This book wrapped me up and didn;t let go! If you love erotic vampire reads-this is definitely for you. If you have never tried one-just do it! But beware-you might get hooked.

Her Vampire Hero is the fourth book in the Midnight Doms series, but can be read completely as a stand alone. Kat is an ER doctor and when she’s called to pronounce a man dead, she’s shocked at his recovery. When the man haunts her dreams, she goes looking for him, but is she ready to face the answers to all her questions?
This book was simply beautiful in the writing. I felt like I was reading a love poem, written from one character into the other. I lost all sense of time when I was reading and just got sucked into the world and romance between Kat and Lou. There’s a sweet and romantic side to this story, along with the possessive and dark elements, plus add in their chemistry, and it was the perfect recipe for a delicious read! I loved Kat’s curiosity, her way of going with the flow, and her acceptance of everything that was Lou and his world. Lou has been around for so long and has been so alone, so my favorite part was watching him accept Kat into his life until she was so woven in and he couldn’t let her leave! They were perfect for each other, their kinks, their desires, their dreams. I loved the drama in this story, too, and I enjoyed how everything played out in the end. I am loving Ms. Martin’s take on these vampires and was thrilled with Kat and Lou!
This captivating vamp story starts out with Lou being on a slab in the ER, not breathing and with his neck ripped open. Doctor Donovan is on duty, goes in to check the body and sign off the DOA. Surprise number one of many. Story takes off from there with a lot of excitement, kidnapping, drama, suspense, light BDSM, feel goods and more. There was delicious chemistry between Lou and Kat, which as a reader I am always grateful for. The story was very well written, engaging and held my interest throughout. I loved revisiting Lucius and Selene from Club Toxic (Alpha’s Blood) as this author seamlessly adapted to the world from the previous Midnight Dom’s books. I recommend this series!

so i wasn’t real happy with this book and debated with myself for days what to say about it. it boils down to it not being my cup of tea. I hope there are many out there that love this story. but it really saddens me that i didn’t enjoy it. this is normally right up my alley for reads but i just couldn’t connect with the characters in this book.
the male lead was to much of an asshole and the female lead just had no back bone. all thru the book she is crying poor me he took me captive i’m just his prisoner. she has no back bone and just rolls over and shows her belly every time. i like dark books and i love kidnap stories but damn i want my female leads to have some spunk and a back bone not just sit there crying about it. and it really pisses me off when the lead male tells the female i will never take from you and not give back to you in return….pssh this dude took everything from her, her family, friends, her career, and her freedom and all thru the book he keeps telling her he will take care of her in one breath and in the next he is telling her she will never be his equal and to remember her place as a pet and nothing more…. it does get a little better at the end…..i’m just not sure he redeemed himself.
Vampire and the ER doctor – Fabulous!!
ER doctor Kat Donovan is told a man has almost had his head torn off – can she confirm and declare “time of death”. She finds a stunning man, with no obvious wounds. He is not breathing, and his heart does not beat. But when she mourns the loss of this unknown man and touches his shoulder– his eyelids move, and his heart beats.
Vampire Lou is centuries old. Kat’s touch sparked his heart and invades his dreams. He must wipe her memory which might hurt her or take her as his captive. Delightful story of relationships and connections. Loved this take on the vampire.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
This was my first read in the series but it did not disappoint. I loved the intense emotion that Kat has for Lou that she was willing to do anything but past trauma makes it harder for Lou to accept that her love is what she deserve. Although a paranormal read I enjoyed how the author was able to draw her reader in with its well written story that is all about the romance. Danger, drama, likable characters and good storyline made this a must read.
This is the first book I have read by Nicolina Martin. Kat, an ER doctor, DOA patient unexpectedly revives. The patient (Lou) takes off and Kat becomes obsessed with him. Lou ends up saving Kat from another vampire. This easy to read story captured my interest from the start and held it to the end. Looking forward to reading more stories from Nicolina!

Lou and Kat’s story was so good.
Their meeting in the hospital was what drew me in right away and I had to read it to the end to see what happened. And oh my, Nicolina did not disappoint.
This story was intriguing and very hot and heavy at times.
Lou and Kat were made for each other. I could see the struggle she was dealing with throughout the book. Did she enjoy being the role of slave? Did she still miss her old life? Is Lou so old, will he ever miss out on the best thing for himself? This was such a awesome book to read!

Kat is in the wrong place at the wrong time and witnesses something that will change her life FOREVER.
A brush with a being of legend, superhuman, ancient, dominant and yet he almost has “human” issues from a trauma in his unknown past, unkown even to himself.
Their collision course sparks, heat and chemistry, dominance, danger, betrayal, jealousy, lies and manipulations, new alliances and new futures, death and rebirth.
A well written story, dark, dangerous and beguiling.
Fantastic Story!
This was an absolutely fantastic vampire love story. There was action, suspense, intrigue and some very steamy moments. The characters were well written and loveable. Lou is a very sexy, solitary vampire who falls for a lonely but compassionate woman. Their chemistry was off the charts and so intense. Definitely many panty melting moments! Kat was frustrating at times but I felt her pain and understood why she was so determined to get what she wanted so badly!
Nicolina Martin is such a talented author. She writes stories that will make you fall in love with her characters and think about them long after the story is finished. Highly recommend.
ER Dr. Katarina is faced with a cadaver as her shift is almost over. Kat needs more in her life of working, work, and more work. Lou will provide what Kat needs. The cadaver just needs the doc to sign the death certificate but she examines the gorgeous man laying dead and senses life. Lou, a vampire senses Kat’s feelings and can’t resist letting Kat “save” him. Lou takes off from the hospital, but Kat can’t seem to forget him. As she searches for Lou, she ends up being viciously attacked by a vampire outside the BDSM club for these creatures of the night, Club Toxic, and left for dead. Lou finds her and takes care of her, he saves her life, he does not want to take it, but fears his need might make him lose control. There is a strong attraction for each to the other but it can never be, Kat is what’s called a sweetblood and Lou is a very old VAMPIRE. This is a love story that shouldn’t be, but Kat wants Lou and is willing to give all she can to have him. Lou wants Kat, but isn’t willing to take everything from her to have her.
Other than a horrible event near the beginning and a bloody act of destruction towards the end, this is truly a love story.
