Desperate for change after a verbally abusive relationship, Brandi Wyne leaves a symphony career, her family, and the Poconos to fall back on a designing degree and a chance to renovate a restaurant/pub in Texas. Even though part of a National Guard family, she’d sworn off military men when the last one proved less than supportive of her thyroid condition and subsequent weight gain. Too bad her … her body seems to forget that fact whenever she’s near the very hot, very military local sheriff.
Texas Army National Guard First Sergeant Kade Dalton never planned on becoming Harland County Sheriff or the attraction to a curvy, military-hating designer from Pennsylvania. Heavy with guilt from the death of a soldier under his command during a recent deployment, and dealing with his co-owned horse ranch and a bungling young deputy, it’s hard most days just to keep his sanity. But it’s the Yankee bombshell who threatens not only his sanity, but tempts his body…and his heart.
Fighting their attraction becomes a losing battle, and Kade soon finds sanctuary in the arms of the beautiful designer. But their changing relationship only brings more pressure to his guilt-ridden life…does he really have the right to saddle Brandi with his stress issues? And if so, can he take a chance on the town’s newest resident not abandoning him like others in his past?

oh so cute….. love this kind of story….. love and frendship in small town.
Kade and Brandi are the cute couple this story brings to live…. although they have issues regarding past situations, they just can’t denie the attraction to each other.
with a slow but steady pace, the story goes and the main characters also found a way to deal with their hearts and sorrows…. and with a full HEA !!!!
p.s. this story is full of “american way of life” and as I’m not american, for me it was a discovery of some emblematic items…. such as Adirondack chairs …. Ariat “I want one of this” cowgirl boots and the Fallen Soldier table a way to represent all the soldiers who have fallen in the line of duty.
I love this cowboy romance series and can’t wait for the next one. I love when an author can make me want to be friends with the characters. Their sense of humor and the deep down way they love their women and their families keeps me coming back for more. Donna Michaels writes about these families in a way that makes me want to know more.
And oh yeah, The sexy parts are really sexy! So there’s that… Just sayin’
The story is very entertaining, hot, and is definitely a page turner. Highly enjoyed.
4 stars
I purchased a copy of Her Uniform Cowboy Harland County Series book #3: Kade by Donna Michaels and this review was given freely.
Sheriff and former National guardsman Kade Dalton must fight his attraction to the exasperating designer/former Philharmonic violinist Brandi when her frustration with growing up in a PA military family, well meaning matchmaking Texas neighbors, and Service memories lead to many frustrating and at times steamy encounters.
A novel that connects two series, this steamy novel contains a large quantity of humor, a year in the lives of the Masters, Mccalls, and Daltons, a bungling Deputy, the importance of Counseling, and a rocky romance with a happy ending.
I loved Kane & Brandi’s story! “Her Uniform Cowboy” was a great addition to the Harland County Series. I love all the characters and this entire series. I highly recommend this book & series to anyone that enjoys a good romance. I can’t wait to read Kevin’s story next, “Her Forever Cowboy”.
A very enjoyable read
Wonderful
This is a wonderful story of two people who were afraid to love, be happy and forget. Made was a rancher, soldier and now Sheriff. But he couldn’t forget the soldier that he lost. Brandi moved to Texas to get away from her ex and get over him degrading her, and start a new life. The have an attraction to each other, but will they act on it.
Love this author
Always love Donna Michaels books. She keeps you reading to find out what will happen next. She writes the best Cowboys and Military Men.
Engaging characters and well written but, the author kept referring to the main character as “the designer” and several other characters at times by their occupations. It was just annoying and took away from an otherwise good read.
Gotta love a cowboy
Love Debbie ‘s books.
Kade was a Guardsman, cowboy, and Sheriff. That is a lot for any man to handle but harder for him with PTSD. He blamed himself for losing a man under his command. That left him feeling he was broken and didn’t deserve a happy life. When a new woman moved into town, he was immediately attracted to her. Brandi had her own demons. She had left Pennsylvania, her symphony career, and her family after her boyfriend told her she was fat. The medication she took for her thyroid problem, made her gain some weight which he didn’t like. He was also quite controlling. Having enough of his condescending attitude, she went to Texas where she started a new career as a designer.
When Brandi took too much pain medication that she needed after an accident, it made her act like she was drunk. She proceeded to tell Kade how much she wanted him. They hooked up for “sex only”. What was intended to be a one-time thing, went on longer, getting complicated when they started to have feelings for each other. Kade’s attention was great for Brandi’s self-esteem. She realized that Kade thought she was sexy, not fat, at all. Brandi was perfect for Kade. She helped him see that he had problems and should see a therapist.
I liked the fun secondary characters in this romance. The matchmaking McCall and Masters matriarchs were cute and Deputy Donnie was so bad at his job that he was funny.
Enjoyed it
good story line very good
You have to keep wanting to get Kade to let go of the guilt and find his happy ever after.
This was the first book I read by this author and I loved it! Since then I’ve devoured the entire series to date and am anxiously awaiting the next story!
It was a goog and passed the time for me.
Just what I was looking for… a good story, easy read, for a rainy weekend!
A different romantic story.
