Her Tempting Protector is book 2 in the Night Storm series by Caitlyn O’Leary and what an amazing story filled with suspense, horrors of war, emotions, evil, danger, heart and love!
Cullen and his Seal team are sent to rescue Carys, she is a American doctor who is working with Doctors without Borders and her team in Africa, but it will take all his training to get Carys and her critically ill patient and baby to safety if they can outmaneuver the threat to her life…
Can’t wait for the next book!
This was a great book! Full of drama, suspense, danger and of course some serious chemistry I couldn’t put it down. I love a good protector to lover romance, and this one did not disappoint.
The best part about this book is that is is so different. While Carys and Cullen have an instant attraction to each other, the two are in such a serious situation that they are unable to act on anything and that chemistry keeps building and building.
Carys is such a strong and amazing character. She was willing to do what ever it takes to make sure her patient survives even if it means putting herself at risk.
Cullen was also a favorite. His instant attraction to Carys caught him off guard, but once he felt that pull towards her he knew he would do whatever it took to make sure she stayed safe.
This book takes you on one heck of a roller coaster ride or emotions. There is no lull in the action and it kept me on edge from start to finish.
A must read book for sure!

Like the first book in the series, you have another kick ass heroine who isn’t afraid to speak up. Put her with the womanizing jokester of the team and sparks were always going to fly.
Both having seen and gone through some of the worst atrocities this world has to offer, can they move past the pain and help eachother?
Both are strong willed and inspiring, and let’s not forget the amazing team of brothers that Cullen is part of. Surely that counts for something… Read to find out…
The further you get into the book the faster the action and obstacles happen. You won’t be able to do anything but turn the pages, good luck trying to put the book down to adult.
Again like the first book I enjoyed how the author includes real places and other things so that it’s relatable for the reader. Same with descriptions. Helps make you believe you are right there beside the characters.
I think this could be one of my all time favorites! Carys and Cullen are both such complex people on their own. Such strong amazing people doing the things they do! Carys going across the world to help people in countries she shouldn’t be in just to help save lives. Cullen and his team going in to save them. Both of them putting the safety and health of those patients before their own. Cullen’s soft side as he cares for an infant while Carys cares for his mother. All in the middle of huge chaos and conflict! It’s intense in every aspect! Loved every minute of this story!
Her Tempting Protector
Navy SEAL Team (Night Storm, Book 2)
By: Caitlyn O’Leary
Narrated by: Ryan West, Kirsten Leigh
You never know where you will meet your soulmate. Carys is doctor taking care of patients in Africa. Navy Seal Cullen Lyons and his team are sent to get her out. Carys is loyal to her patients and when she delivers a baby to a battered mother with 3 other abused children, she is not going to leave easily. Now caught in a web of danger, Carys and Cullen do their best to transport the family to safety. Their attraction is palpable, but duty comes first. Will Lyons and his men be able to transport them all safely? Is Cullen too good to be true? Do they have a future? Carys and Cullen are fantastic characters with depth and realism. The story is suspenseful, extremely entertaining and had me invested in the outcome of everyone. It had me worried, fearful, concerned and in love and I couldn’t stop til the very end. This is my kind of book, and I cannot wait to see what Caitlyn O’Leary has in store for us next.
For romantic suspense books, we need narrators that can build up the thrills and enhance the romance as it builds. Kirsten Leigh and Ryan West are made for this. Leigh becomes Carys. She brings out her personality with compassion and bravery. West has a real fierceness in his voice that aids in the building of Cullen. He is soft, spoken yet so strong. The perfect narration for a fantastic book.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book and I voluntarily chose to review it. I am a big fan of Caitlyn O’Leary. This book is up to her standards. It is well written and it has wonderful characters. I will encourage everyone to get this book it is worth you time. I don’t do spoilers so get the book and see how good it is. An easy read I couldn’t put it down.
If you follow Caitlyn O’Leary on Facebook you will meet a quirky, funny, compassionate woman who makes you laugh. When you read her books, you will find a genius who can weave a story of action, intrigue, heart-stopping drama and humor. I learn so much when I read her stories. This particular one is set in Africa with Doctors without Borders showing how they have to save people with little medical equipment while surrounded by the atrocities of war. The characters are so well written with the Alpha male coming to rescue the strong no-nonsense dedicated female Doctor who won’t leave her patient and the secondary characters who we get to revisit from previous books in the series. This is standalone, so even if you aren’t familiar with the other books it will not take away from the story. Compelling, action-packed, adventurous, humor and love this book has it all.
We first met Carys in ‘Her Steadfast Hero’, the first book in the Black Dawn Series. After that ordeal she stopped deploying with Doctors without Borders.
When Abdalla Hamdok the new Prime Minister asked if she would come and consult with Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors she weighed all the pros and cons but finally agreed. Now she was once again in the thick of things.
Called out to attend a woman in labor she takes Faizah, one of the nurses with her to watch over the woman’s other children while she helped the mother.
Necessity called for a C-Section to save both the child and mother under very primitive conditions, and a cursory check of the children showed abuse to the point one child could have internal bleeding.
Not having a vehicle had Carys is despairing over how to get the child treatment while the mother recovers enough to travel. It then that Navy SEALs show up looking for her.
Cullen Lyons and Raiden Sato need evaluate the situation and evacuate them. This means splitting up and Raiden taking Faizah and the children to the hospital in Khartoum and returning for them.
I really love Cullen’s interaction with the new baby as he encourages Carys to get some sleep. Although as her patient is waking up, she is in the midst of a nightmare where she is back in Santa Flores.
Things are rapidly changing in Khartoum and it becomes apparent they would have to find a way to travel on their own.
This is an action-packed, emotional, and at times romantic journey through rough and dangerous territory as Cullen and Carys work to keep both mother and child safe.
I can’t wait to see who finds love in the next book!
I loved this book! I was pulled in from the start! The characters are strong and independent. They don’t care to be told what to do in their personal lives. Carys Adams is a caring person and will not abandon her patient and kids despite the danger present. Cullen Lyons is here to rescue her. He is in for a rude awakening. Their chemistry is electric. Their story will keep you on the edge of your seat! Never a dull moment. This book is a must read! Check it out and see for yourself. I loved the first book as well. Ms. O’learly is a master of her craft. I can not wait for the next book. I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy from the author.
Wowzers!! This book grabbed me from the first page – and didn’t let go until the last one. There’s excitement, danger, action, a strong heroine and a hunky SEAL hero, heat, and a little heartache. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more books in this series.
I received a copy of this book from the author via ProlificWorks. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.
This is a book that could make your heart bleed Carys is a doctor who worked for Doctors without borders but the atrocities she has seen has just about destroyed her and she walked away and was about to start her career in medicine back in the USA then she herself is requested to head up a team in Khartoum what she doesn’t expect is that a volatile situation will blow up while she is there. Cullen is a Navy Seal who is sent with his team to bring the doctor and her team home The only problem is that Carys has travelled to a remote village to help a pregnant woman Shada He and a member of his team head out to get her and find a situation that horrifies them two badly beaten children and a wife that has just had a cesarean with his team mate taking the children back he has to wait with Carys until it is safe to transport the mother. With the attraction building between them there is also danger growing as someone tries to stop them from taking the patient who is she and who is she related to that puts them all in danger. Can Cullen save the woman he is growing to love and do him and Carys have a future together Be prepared for a roller coaster ride that will have you turning the pages as fast as you can
Her Tempting Protector is another wonderful book by Caitlyn O’Leary. As always the characters are well drawn, complex and interesting and by the end of the book, you have a new book boyfriend and a woman crush on the female lead.
One other fun element of Caitlyn’s books are the references to former characters and books. In this case, Carys was one of the Doctors held hostage in Her Steadfast Hero and as such was dealing with some issues from that and some personal insecurities. She is a strong woman in her professional life, but she struggles a bit with her personal one.
Cullen is brave, protective and pretty much instantly in love with Carys, but he doesn’t push her to move faster than she is ready. He is definitely an alpha male, but he is not a jerk. The action starts early and is pretty much non-stop through the book, but the romance is a slow sweet burn.
Caitlyn also tackles the challenges faced by those who want to make the world a better place – whether doctors or military members – pointing out the toll that it takes for them to contribute in the way that they do. While the book includes some serious issues, there is also plenty of humor and sweet moments – and of course a happy ending. By the end of the story, I still wanted to spend time with these characters and can’t wait to hear more about them in the other books in the Night Storm series.
I got this book as ARC in exchange for an honest review. I strongly recommend this book or really anything by this author.
WOW!
What a heart-wrenching, but fabulous story!
I immediately loved the theme of Doctors Without Borders, but this one is with the Central Committee of Sudanese Doctors. It takes a special kind of person to travel all the way around the world to a war-torn country like Africa, to give aid to those that are poor, wounded and in great need of all the basic necessities of life.
Carys is a woman who has the heart of a lion and the soul of an angel and puts her patients first. Her strength of character is remarkable and her heart is full of love and compassion for those who need her special skills.
I love how Cullen and his teammates from Night Storm, face the adversity of the evil and dangerous people creating the angry mob in Khartoum. Cullen finds Carys and his immediate respect for her selfless care of Shada and her young children, combine with his instant attraction to her as a loving woman.
This story has all the feels. There is so much evil and horror in this kind of situation that is a part of every day life for these poor people, but this story also has an underlying thread of tasteful humor, affection and kindness. I loved the “bile flavored saliva” description! I also love the fact that Carys loves Pineapple Fanta! It was endearing to me how capable Cullen was with newborn baby Adam. So many intricate details that give this story its heart.
I would have been thrilled if this story would have gone on a little further to have a wedding and maybe a baby on the way! Love this series!
I’m a sucker for strong female characters, and Carys really ticks that box. I also enjoy books where I either learn something new or am challenged to think more about a situation or issue, and this book ticks that one too. It’s a glib assurance, for example, that a sterilizer will solve every problem – but what if that is the problem? But I digress . Fans of Caitlyn O’Leary’s writing will recognize all her best traits here, and new readers can’t go wrong. This story takes the reader to a slightly different type of war zone and a different type of situation, but there is the suspense we’ve come to expect, and a truly awesome romance between Cullen and Carys, and serious heat. I think the transport scenes are my favorites (read it to find them!); the extent of the courage of all characters in those scenes is breathtaking. However, it wasn’t easy to find favorites out of this book – the book as a whole is un-put-down-able once started – Ms O’Leary costs me so much sleep! I recommend this unreservedly to seasoned and new readers.
I received a free copy of this book; my review is both enthusiastic and voluntary.
This is a terrific read that provides a complex blend of romance, action, emotion, adventure, danger, drama, humor and excitement. Carys and Cullen’s story quickly grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. These are easy to love characters that you will find yourself 100% invested in. This story will of course melt your heart and have you feeling swoony but it also delivers plenty of nerve-wracking tension and thrills. A great addition to a excellent series.
I felt my heart being ripped from my chest, and as the wound slowly began to heal, it was torn open once again.
While this statement may seem extreme, the essence of a true romantic suspense is defined in the pages of this exceptionally written story by Caitlyn O’Leary, and the reader becomes so emotionally involved in the storytelling that tears flow without conscious thought. This was my experience as I immersed myself in the life and death struggle of a brutalised family and the selfless doctor who risked all for their survival. But survival can come at a price to your soul and would not have been possible without the intervention of the Navy’s finest; and nothing says protection like a bona fide Navy SEAL.
Her Tempting Protector is not a fluffy, sunshine and roses, unicorns and rainbows kind of book. From page one your emotions take a pounding and the brutality of the human race is front and centre for all to see. Those who should be cherished most are subjected to cruelty and abuse by the ones meant to protect and nurture, while civil war rages through a fractured culture as innocents strive to simply survive.
The reality of this story was confronting to say the least, but Ms O’Leary has never shied from delving head long into the hard topics or the losses encountered in trying to make a difference. The Doctors Without Borders were portrayed with honour and respect and their sacrifices should never go unrecognised. And the risks that are taken were recounted in the nightmare of Carys` past, and the crippling effect it has had on her future.
As for the romantic element of this story, well Cullen is dependable, loyal and totally adorable; he also keeps his Alpha maleness to a minimum (except when really needed), while Carys is a self-sacrificing angel whose dedication to the needy is immeasurable, but she is also a damaged soul who deserves lifelong happiness, but doesn’t believe it’s in her future.
The true appreciation of this book is in the reading, so make sure you don’t miss out on this remarkable story as it is definitely one that will touch the hardest of hearts and bring grown men to tears.
Love this Action-filled SEAL Romance!!
Many times, a SEAL comes home to find a romantic partner. This time Navy Seal Cullen Lyons meets Dr. Carys Lyons amid a warzone. Dr. Carys will not leave her patient who cannot travel but staying put risks all their lives.
Cullen comes from a family where the men know from day #1 when they find “the one”. He thought maybe he’d find her in the grocery store, not in the middle of Africa. A bad marriage, and an earlier near-death experience have Carys tamping down her feelings.
It is tense and romantic with edge-of-your-seat action and emotional moments. Just brilliant!
Cullen and Carys
None of the team thought Cullen would ever find a woman–one he wanted and could put up with him. A scary situation in Africa put the woman in his care and now all he had to do was convince her he was good enough. He didn’t think he was but he wanted her and was willing to woo and pursue–that is if they made it out alive.
Carys had had enough of the danger and sorrow and had retired from Doctors without Boarders. Yet, she couldn’t resist helping one last time when requested. Had she known maybe she would have.
Both characters along with their teammates and the victims they were out to save are bound to capture the hearts of the author’s readers and make new fans of new readers. There is the horror of war, the viciousness of some, and the honor and sacrifice of others. I especially liked that even though there were feelings between the two, they didn’t act on them in the middle of their dire situation which I found more realistic than many other stories from other authors.
The time they have to find each other is touching as well. As amazing read that leaves you with a sigh and a smile.
I got through the first chapter and knew it was going to be a late night. I couldn’t put this book down. I laughed out loud (like really loud) a couple of times. The first book with Kane was off the charts good and I was not disappointed at all with this one. The way Cullen is with Carys, so sweet, so protective and his confidence in his love. I want a Cullen in my life. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series and so hope it’s Raiden’s. I was very intrigued by him.
A great love story shows 2 people growing together to achieve a stronger relationship from 2 different world stakes you on an eventful ride showing how 2 worlds become one
