Vonnie Davis welcomes readers to Wounded Warrior Falls! In this sizzling contemporary series, broken heroes meet women worth fighting for—and discover the healing power of love. Navy SEAL Dustin Frank can handle physical pain; it’s his soul that needs mending. After losing part of his leg in an explosion, the panic triggered by his PTSD nearly drives him over the edge. So Dustin retreats to the … retreats to the Eagle Ridge Ranch, a charming hideaway tucked into the Hill Country of Texas. There he finds solace in the arms of a shy beauty who reawakens desires he thought he’d lost forever—and who makes him want to lose control, just when he needs it most.
Kelcee Todd sees beyond Dustin’s scars to the real man beneath: fiercely protective, strong yet tender. She wants nothing more than to feel his battle-hardened hands on her body. However, Kelcee is not the ordinary small-town girl she appears to be. Her brother is a killer with ties to the Russian mob, and after her testimony put him in prison, he’s out and eager for revenge. Now Dustin is her best defense, even if it could cost him everything. Kelcee could never ask him to make that sacrifice . . . but she can’t stop him, either.

I received an e-copy of this story for an honest review.
One of the reasons I love this story, aside from being a romance, is that it tells the story of a military Veteran. Another reason is because the general public doesn’t really know the stress and trauma of PTSD that our soldiers go through when they return from war. Ms. Davis tells us the story of one Veteran, and the aftereffects of war that he has to deal with. But in all honesty, we, the general civilian public, have no idea the number of men and women across our country who live this kind of life every day, or the struggles they go through.
As the daughter of a Retired Army Veteran, who served three tours in Vietnam, I salute and Thank You Ms. Davis for writing and sharing this story with everyone.
*3.5 stars*
First author read, military romance…
I enjoyed this romance, fueled by post-military recovery and action-filled suspense. Kelcee was hiding from a secretive source while Dustin was dealing with his own demons. Surrounded by ex-military they were both surrounded by friends, family determined to help them…
I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry that built between the main characters. What I felt shine though were he secondary, supportive characters. Bringing humour and friendship, they brought warmth and emotion to this read. While the story may not have been a unique one, it was all around a satisfying one.
*I happily reviewed this story

After a suffering a devastating injury Navy SEAL Dustin Frank is in dire need of some healing, his PTSD has him constantly on edge and he is struggling to manage everything in his life. So, when his former commander offers him a place to stay and have the opportunity get away from the hell he is currently living in he jumps at the chance to go and hopefully find a little reprieve. Since his accident he has been able to cope with the loss his body suffered, but his memory and mental well being have really taken a hit, and just can’t seem to find a way to manage the PTSD and haunting memories. His commander promises the program he has in place will give him what he needs, and at this point he knows he doesn’t really have anything to lose, so he accepts the invitation… and finds far more than he bargained for, and also discovers something he thought he’d lost forever …love!
Kelcee Todd wasn’t looking for love, but with a little help from an overbearing father figure in her new life, she finds it, and so much more. She came to Texas to hide out from a dangerous past, and so far she has adjusted to her new life well, even becoming a successful business woman, but there’s one thing she hasn’t allowed herself to find… companionship. The first time she meets Dustin she knows they have an undeniable spark, but she also sees that he is a damaged man who is struggling to find his way in civilian life, and something inside her is telling her that she is the person who is suppose to help him find his way… the problem is he’s not so willing to let her in! But she has no plans of letting it stop her though…
This was very memorable first read for me, it had all the makings of a perfect romance story…lots of spice, packed with emotion and suspense, and a feisty heroine that wasn’t afraid to go toe to toe with a tough alpha male!! The story line pulled me in right away, had me hooked in a matter of minutes, and flying through the pages as fast as I could swipe them! I loved these characters so much, you could tell that Ms. Davis put a lot of time and care into them, and did all she could to get their story just right!! Their story spoke volumes to me, it had a very realistic feel, and it had me feeling the intensity behind every word!! Definitely one of the best first reads I have had in a long while, HIGHLY recommend this one, it’s sure to linger with you long after the last page is swiped!!
Vonnie Davis has nailed it! I love her wounded warriors and how they find their way back. ALL of the characters, primary and secondary, are wonderfully crafted. And, don’t discount the secondary characters, fudge and buttermilk!…..or you’ll miss the strength and hilarity! I want a Nance of my own! The first of the Black Eagle Ops series set in the hill country of Texas will captivate you. You will want to live there. Dust’s handling of Dusty’s unintentionally cruel words about his disfigured face following service for our country was inspired and emotional….don’t forget your hankies when you sit down to read this one. Ms. Davis’ handling of PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) challenges is touching, accurate, and inspiring – for both those who suffer and those who suffer along-side. Our heroine has her own issues to handle and she does it so well! Don’t think you won’t be inspired and laughing as well. Come to think of it, you might need a hanky for Fran and Junebug’s antics! You won’t want to miss this one! LGM
Enjoyed the characters and story.
Very good, but TOO SHORT!!!
