I really loved this book. Mikey B is really good and very promising. I love the way the the story goes. It is very well written and wished it was longer.

I’m torn.. This book had a lot of potential, but for me the delivery just fell short.
There is a love triangle between Kevin, Chelsea and Jason, all soon to graduate high school. Kevin is Chelsea’s newish step-brother, and Jason is her best friend-turned-new BF. Things start getting contentious when Chelsea and Jason decide to try for a romantic relationship and Kevin makes his feelings known for the first time.
What was done right:
1) the story had a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming
2) the story came to a well-rounded and satisfying conclusion that ended 3 years post-drama-rama time
3) I love a well done love triangle
4) plenty of angsty, jealous situations with 2 alpha males vying for the girl’s attention
What needed work:
1) Jason was WAY too agro male for me. I love a good stalker book, but he became so over the top stalkerish at times that I was worried he intended to seriously hurt either himself or Chelsea. His emotions seemed to be on the edge of psychotic or bipolar, and he seemed to lose his sense of reality, which made me uneasy, to say the least. Unrealistically overemotional for some of the situations.
2) The boys are SO in love with Chelsea and I was trying to figure out why. She really had no redeeming qualities that I could find. She was pretty shallow, lied repeatedly to suit her needs, fought with her parents in a way that showed her immaturity (with obscenities as well, which makes me cringe), and showed little strength of character, choosing to act impulsively in the moment and deal with the consequences later.
3) The book was riddled with improper grammar (“there”, instead of “they’re” type errors), punctuation all over the place (calm down with the weirdly placed commas, please) and I got the sense that either English was not the author’s first language, or they were not from the US, as several common American phrases were incorrect (“chit for chat”, instead of “tit for tat”, etc…).
It really ruins the reading experience when you have to decipher what the author’s real meaning is beneath all that.
All in all, this book could be great with a few improvements. There is an interesting premise there, just needs some editing, proofreading and fine tuning.
I would read more from this author in the future.

It’s amazing to see what love, the seed of jealousy, and secrets can do to a relationship. As single pieces they can be overcome with some effort but all three at once are a lethal combination. Sometimes someone can be great as a friend but not as a lover. Her Stepbrother was a well written with a captivating storyline. Chelsea gets her HEA, but who do you think she chooses?
Waiting daily for chapters was so hard to do. After the author finished writing ‘Her Stepbrother’ I started back at the beginning. On Wattpad the author had written alternate endings. I had the luxury of reading both. Sorry-not sorry, thought I’d rub it in. I realise the author edited the story before self-publish and deleted one ending. I won’t spoil the story, but will say, the guys she chooses is my favourite. I loved his machine gun. I still chuckle when I reread ‘Her Step brother.’ Mikey B. has away with her writing to pull emotions from her readers and also make them laugh.
So much drama that will have you frustrated, but can’t put it down, not even for a second. I was so frustrated with Jason but still loved how much he loved her. I loved Kevin so much. I actually felt sorry for Chelsea. If I were her, I would have married both!! I loved superman though. 🙂
I enjoyed this story from start to finish. A love triangle that will have your heart swooning at the end. Hard to chose but am glad it ended the way it had
