I’ll admit it. I messed up. Mistake #1: Asking Peter Barnidge for a job.Mistake #2: Accepting his offer instead of throwing it in his face like I planned.Mistake #3: In the interest of stopping before #99, I’ll pretend the only other mistake was withholding one, tiny little nugget of truth during my interview. Peter Barnidge… Where do I even start? How about that after my first day working for … after my first day working for Mr. Superstar International Bestselling Author, his name became my favorite kid-friendly cursing substitute. Stub a toe? Peter Barnidge it! Bank account is overdrawn? Son of a Barnidge! And when I realized I was falling for my boss? Well, what the Barnidge?
I wish it was easier to just plain hate him, instead of the twisted, confusing blend of hatred and attraction I feel. But he’s the bad kind of attractive. Dark with a side of smoldering heat. The kind of hot that makes me want to do that Catholic cross thing every time I look at him, because one glance takes my brain straight to a world of sin.
Speaking of sin… I also lied a little during my interview. But I’m a single mom and I’d do anything to provide for my daughter, even if it meant keeping one tiny little secret. Unfortunately, even small secrets have a way of growing over time.
I think it’s only a matter of time before he finds out, and somehow, I don’t think he’s going to be happy when he does.

Violet goes to a writer’s convention with her little girl to see about drumming up some business for herself. However she didn’t count on her daughter’s love for bookmarks to lead her into Peter’s path. When he was rude and insulting she decided she was going to teach him a lesson. However it back fired on her and she ended up working for him. There’s just one thing he doesn’t like to hire people with children or family obligations to a sick relative. So she lied about her daughter in order to get the job. When things start to heat up between her and Peter she wants to come clean and tries but he doesn’t want to know. What will Peter do when he learns about her daughter?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

Enemies to lovers!
Penelope Bloom’s storyline kept me interested and engaged. I liked the dynamics between Peter and Violet. Violet is a single mom and since her last relationship ended because the father of her child decided relationships and being dad wasn’t what he was interest in. She’s sworn off men until Zoey, her daughter is older. But she needs to land a big job to pay the bills and when she runs into top author Peter Barnidge, literally, she stages a viral social media campaign to get hire by him. She just wasn’t
prepared for Peter. Peter hasn’t been lucky in love. His last girlfriend stole his heart and his book!! He doesn’t trust any woman any more. He just wasn’t prepared for Violet! Somehow this unlikely match happens. We see the return of other characters for previous books in the series. There are some poignant and sweet moments. Some sexy shenanigans between these two. I recommend he book.
I am in love with these books. Penelope has brought these books to life in a way that makes you devour these books and make you want more from the characters.
In this one, we have a high in demand author Peter that is not in need of anyone or anything. But when Violet makes a mess at a signing, these two clashes in an almighty way. To help herself out, Violet makes a media blitz that puts Peter on the spot to hire her.
Peter does not like to be put on the spot but hires Violet anyway, but she has to be at his beck and call. Little does he know that Violet has a little girl at home waiting for her. What will happen when he finds out?
Love is the most powerful truth
Is it ever OK to lie? What if the new boss says your job isn’t family friendly – and you’re a single mom with a daughter? And you’re flat broke? And you NEED this job? Violet Browning mistrusts men – after all, her ex took off after only a few months of fatherhood. She decides to risk the lie. And the boss – what if he distrusts all women because his ex stole his unpublished manuscript, and published the thriller of the year under her name? And when boss Peter Barnidge finds out about Violet’s daughter, won’t that vindicate his misogynistic mistrust? Penelope Bloom’s latest sweetly sexy but clean romance pits Violet’s and Peter’s personal trust issues against their growing attraction for each other, as both struggle their way to HEA. It’s a warm, amusing little novel with a pair of likable frenemies/co-workers, and a supporting cast of characters from previous Bloom romances (Yes, potty-mouth Grammy has a walk-on. It wouldn’t be a Penelope Bloom book without her.) The continuity of characters and bits of shtick from previous books grounds Bloom’s story in her world of super-successful men with their big bank accounts, and their even bigger eccentricities. It feels simultaneously comforting and bizarre, and what should be cause for major angst instead morphs into a slow and slightly silly revelation of the real truth: love overcomes all obstacles (at least in Bloom’s world – which is why I love to spend time in it). Despite being a fan of Bloom’s writing, and being given an ARC by Booksprout, I am voluntarily leaving a nn independent and uncompensated review: 5 stars.
An entertaining and enjoyable heartfelt romance. This unique, funny, sweet and crazy story had me addicted from page one. The characters are interesting, well developed and full of passion with amazing priceless banter. Bonus of comeoes from characters in other stories adding to this amazing read.

Another Great book in the “Objects of Attraction” series! I It is well written and quite entertaining. The plot is consistent, realistic, funny, witty, and well-developed; the story flows smoothly. The main characters Peter and Violet are loveable, deep, and sincere; the chemistry between them is potent. I loved watching their story unfold; the twists and turns; the appearance of characters from previous books (especially Grammy and William) make for a wonderful story. This is a very interesting and engaging read that I highly recommend reading.

This is a really fun and funny book! Super entertaining and will having you laugh out loud. Violet is a single mom of precocious Zoey when she manipulates her way into a job with author Peter. She sort of doesn’t tell him she has a child when he tells her that a mom wouldn’t be able to do the job. Well, she excels. He is very wary as he was seriously and financially burnt by someone he thought he was in love. Violet has some ideas! Zoey is a little too smart for her own good and Grammy is just a hoot! This is a must read!!

Her Secret is a fun read that had me hooked from the first page until the last. This story is written with a perfect combination of humor, great characters, steam and romance. Violet and Peter are perfect both stubborn, strong and I loved their banter. Looking forward to reading the next Objects of Attraction book.
This book was a great read!!

Advertising consultant Violet Browning wants to teach handsome bestselling author Peter Barnidge a lesson after he dismisses her sales pitch. Violet plans to impress Peter into offering her a job, then rejecting the job offer. So why does Violet agree to work for Peter? Peter is done with dating yet he can’t seem to stop letting wild, dirty ideas about the beautiful Violet spring to the front of his thoughts. Peter doesn’t want a woman in his life so why does the thought of another man putting his hands on Violet make his blood boil? And what happens when Peter finds out that single mother Violet lied about not having any children in order to land the job?
Her Secret is a funny, sweet and hot story that will leave you thoroughly entertained
Our character list is expanding, I love how the connection to the other books here is through Lilith, and seeing Lilith dealing with a child is amazing. Penelope has a knack for writting stubborn heroines and quirky heroes all with a slight OCD. Violet and Peter have off the charts chemistry, both having been burned before when it comes to romance. I wish we got a novella about grandma, she’s awesome, and William’s crazy self. I wonder what’s next in this off the charts series.

Another great one!
This part of the series is tamed without so much of the hilarious humour we were able to see in the previous parts, but it is not anything that make it less likeable. I really enjoyed reading it and still could laugh out laud in some parts. Enemies to lovers trope here is provided very realistically and once again we are reminded that there is a very thin line between hatred and love. There is no angst, there are romantic and sweet moments and I very much adored little Zoey. Main characters are fighting with their own insecurities and are reluctant to open their hearts for the potential hurt. Being burnt once is hard for them to trust again. Keeping secrets from each other does’t help their case. Off course we have Bruce, William and Granny making their appearances but this time they are very helpful and little bit less crazy. This is one of my favourite series of rom-coms and if there will be other instalments I will for sure read them.
Wonderfully fantastic… The book was amazing… It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to it… The characters and their personalities match them perfectly… The plot and the storyline was very descriptive and amazing…

A good read with fun characters. I enjoyed some chuckles with some of the banter between the Violet and Peter.
Violet’s daughter, Zoey, is incorrigible!
Her Secret is the fifth book in the Objects of Attraction Series. Violet just needs one big client she can help with advertising so that she’s more comfortable with paying the bills. When Peter initially turns her down, she uses all her resources to gain an interview, and she’s surprised when he offers her a job. Peter is just as surprised, and is quickly finding that she’s cracking open his heart piece by piece. But when a secret she’s holding comes out, can he continue to trust her with her job and his heart?
Oh I just loved this book! This whole series has been absolutely fantastic, but this book brought some real issues to light, but still provided the humor, attraction, and love that’s found throughout this series. Violet and Peter were fun and entertaining because they definitely had a enemies vibe going on, and I loved that their banter laid the foundations to something so much more. They could both see that the other was hiding something and that there was so much more than you thought you knew. The drama in the book with his ex kept me hooked just as much as the developing relationship between Violet and Peter. This book is a stand alone within the series, but you’ll see characters from the previous books, and Grammy is just laugh-out-loud funny! I loved this book, enjoyed reading from the very beginning, and loved this addition to the series!
Violet is a single mother raising her daughter Zoey. Her ex didn’t want the responsibility of a family. Peter is an author who is a bit angry. When Peter and Violet meet the sparks fly. This has a good storyline and great characters that kept me interested. Penelope Bloom is a talented writer who knows how to pull you into the storyline and characters throughout the entire book.

Excellent with very good dialogues
I loved the incisive dialogues of tense situations between the two heroes. They are hilarious thanks to the causticity of Violet a single mother who promotes small authors, and a great arrogant author, Peter, unbearable. After he has rebuffed her at a convention, she decides to attract him with a marketing plan, to repel him and take revenge for his contempt, but he feels the trickery and he multiplies by 3 her salary proposal to force her to stay against her will, while trying to make her resign … and each one of them thinks he is Machiavellian. Although Peter has the power, Violet never lowers herself, but to keep her place she must never reveal that she has a child. Peter, on the other hand, does not understand himself because his body reacts differently from his brain when it comes to Violet and he spends his time between jerk and pleasant mode cursing himself for his reactions.
It’s exciting, hilarious, with heroes who have very strong personalities. There is not a single pause.

After the shocking betrayal of his ex, it’s no wonder Peter doesn’t trust anyone, including Violet, the woman he has hired to do the marketing for his next book. His attraction to Violet is almost more than he can handle so he of course acts like a complete ass to her. Violet is a single mom and almost five year old Zoey is a secret she is keeping from her boss who is a really big jerk except for those moments he lets his softer, caring side slip through. Falling for Peter means exposing her lie and after the betrayal of his lying ex how will he ever forgive her?
Violet and Peter are one of my favorite couples in this series and I loved that funny little munchkin Zoey. This funny, sexy romance by Penelope Bloom is a great read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was a tad bit different to the others I read. Wonderful characters. Wonderful plot. Great moments. I was never bored. I didn’t roll my eyes or shake my head. There were just fewer of the good aspects that the other books had-don’t fix it if it ain’t broke! Still not a bad read. I will be buying more of this author’s books- from this author I can automatically guarantee a good, well-written read.

Another super book in this series. Penelope Bloom writes another winner! I couldn’t stop reading! Violet is a single mom desperately in need of a marketing job. She would love to add a well-known writer to her lesser-known author client list. Chasing her little girl at an author convention puts her mistakenly in the crosshairs of a rude, boorish, gorgeous author, Peter Barnridge who thinks she’s stalking him! Instead of meekly leaving, she gets feisty with him, intriguing him. Violet goes home and uses her resources to force Peter to interview her and basically give her a trial marketing job! He does, offering an outrageous salary and sets off to treat her so rudely that she’ll quit! Violet is made of sterner and more persistent stuff. She starts out hating him and he hates her. They see each other as Trouble. And Violet has a secret. They both have trust issues. But then….something changes. Read this delightful story!
