The man who broke her heart. The second chance she’s not sure if she wants.
Emmitt Brown’s demons are even bigger than he is, and as a defensive lineman for the San Antonio Rebels, that’s something. When DJ Madden tasks his defensive line to go home for Christmas and get rid of their biggest past regret, Emmit finds himself returning to the small town he grew up in to find the woman he never … he grew up in to find the woman he never should have left. Too bad she hates him and tells him to go away.
Mia Carter can’t believe Emmitt Brown is back in town. She does not need this right now. Especially since he’s been the ghost who won’t leave her conscience alone for the past five years and especially since she recently lost her husband. But when the pro football player steps up and offers to help her son fight cancer, she finds herself reluctantly agreeing.
Now they have to make a choice; dig into the past and let the truth bring them together, or lose the Christmas miracle right in front of them.

A great wrap-up to this series!
The only problem I had with this book was that it ended! I just didn’t want it to stop. I wanted more and more and more. This book had so much heart, so much depth, so much feeling that I didn’t want it to be over. The emotion was real to life. Mia’s pain was understandable, her anger justified. Emmitt’s guilt was earned and much deserved. He put more stock in peer pressure than he did to promises made. And later…. much, much later when he finally owned up to his wrongs, he didn’t try to make amends, at least not to the one he betrayed and abandoned. That didn’t happen till years later. Emmitt had to learn that all the good deeds in the world won’t make up for one bad deed. It doesn’t even the score. The guilt remains.
Now, As I’ve said all these ‘nasty’ things about Emmitt, I must admit you hurt for him too. He finally realizes his wrongs and sets out to make things right, albeit for all the wrong reasons. However, he learns there are consequences to choices. And, the longer you let an open wound fester, the harder it is to heal. And five years festering, is a long time.
This is a book that will warm your heart all the while breaking it at the same time. It’s a true second chance romance, but moving from ‘first chance’ to five years down road for a ‘second chance’ won’t be easy. And, it shouldn’t be… because Emmitt messed up big time. Yes, he had his reasons but they were feeble at best.
And Mia, she’s a real trooper, a survivor. She has to learn to forgive. But, forgiving and trusting are two separate things. Mia had to give up a lot for Emmitt’s selfishness. While he lived the life of Riley, she struggled to put food on the table and a roof over her and Carter’s head. Oh, and who is Carter? He’s her four year old son who has gone through more in the last year than most people go through in a lifetime. It’s impossible not to fall in love with him.
Once again, Lorana Hoopes has drawn me into a storyline that tugs at my heart and pulls at my mind.
Her Second Chance Forever Groom (Bachelor Texas Rebel Romances #5) was another great read by Lorana Hoopes. Emmitt has demons that follow him around. He’s a defensive lineman and the team is told to find a way to get rid of their biggest past regret. Emmitt returns to the small town he grew up in and found the woman who got away. Unfortunately for him, Mia wants nothing to do with him. I really enjoyed listening to Emmitt and Mia’s story and can’t wait to read more by the author.
This is a fast paced , clean Christian romance.
Emmitt Brown is a famous football player that is trying to right the wrong he committed in his past. This past takes him to Mia Carter. The girl he left behind in favor of fame and fortune.
Mia is now a widow with a four year old boy , and barely making ends meet.
Little did they know that the same day that Emmitt finds her , and the young boy falls, their lives would change forever.
Though at times the story felt rushed, it was still entertaining and touching.
Love how beautifully written this story is , God’s love shines through but it wasn’t heavy handed.
I was given a free ARC by the author. My review is freely and honestly given
I absolutely loved this story. It was so heartfelt and inviting that it made us all hope that we to will find a guy like Emmett to complete us. They way you told the story was not how I saw it but so glad that you told it. We need to hear something like this from time to time. Hope!! I’m looking forward to the next in this series. I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader’s Copy
This book is so heartwarming & heartbreaking! It was wonderfully written and performed in the narration. Lorana did an extraordinary job with this story!
Another good addition to the series. Second chance, forgiveness and redemption all play into the story. The characters are engaging and make you want to see them work out there issues and achieve their HEA.
A wonderfully well written clean, short, second chance romance. This touching storyline is full of joy, hope, faith, forgiveness, and love with a lot of heart, feelings, and depth in an amazing story. Its fast paced with twists and turns to a HEA with a great epilogue. I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC. A must listen to beautifully narrated story.

Her Second Chance Forever Groom
Bachelor Texas Rebel Romances, Book 5
By: Lorana Hoopes
Narrated by: Lorana Hoopes
What would you do if you had a second chance at being with your first and true love? Mia has this chance. When Emmitt comes back in to her life 5 years after leaving her, she is extremely hesitant. A young widow with a 4 year old son, she has not only her heart to think about. But now in a situation where he can help her, she is immersed in his world. Will she give in and find the happiness they could have had? Now, it’s not all on him. She carries secrets as well, things that will change both of their lives. This feel good story takes us into a that chance, It’s not all roses and candy, there are life threatening situations, that will bring you to tears and years of pent up anger and frustration that need to be worked through. I love Hoopes’s style, as she always is able to bring a message to think about after listening. Emmitt is quite a character, and as you get to know him and hear his story, you will understand how life can lead you down a path that may not be the one suited for you. It’s a great self realization and a wonderful romance. Narrated by Lorana as well, we have the ultimate storytelling. I love that she is able to give her books to us as she hears them. They are always a treat.

Second chances, hope, love, and making amends is the basis for this story.
Lorana Hoopes has a knack for keeping her readers engaged in her books and this one is such an example.
She is an amazingly talented author and knows her readers well.
This series is captivating.
I loved Mia and Emmitt’s (and Carter’s) story. Second chance at love, repairing past regrets, and becoming a family, are themes of this heartwarming story. I’m not a football fan, but this story could almost make me one. I received a copy of this book from the author. My review was voluntary and these are my honest thoughts and opinions. Ms Hoopes’ books are always a delight to read.
Facing and (hopefully) making right a past regret. Emmitt, Mia and her son Carter are well written characters. This is an emotional and inspirational book. Really held my interest from start to finish. I’m not a football (or any sport, for that matter) fan, but the focus is not football but relationships. Even though part of a series, this is definitely a standalone.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
This is a heartwarming and emotional story with strong characters in Emmitt and Mia. The author brings a story of regret, faith and forgiveness. It’s a heartfelt second chance love story dealing with life’s happenings, both good and bad, making amends and finding peace and happiness together. Add in little Carter,Mia’s adorable four year old son who grabs at your heartstrings and has gone through and dealt with so much in his short life. This story pulled at me from beginning to end and I loved the epilogue. I would highly recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Such a great story to continue this series! I loved the happy ending. The characters were well written. The love story was sweet, clean, and a great second chance story. I recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of the book. All opinions are my own and are expressed voluntarily.
This is a sweet football romance that tells the story of Emmitt and Mia. As high school and then college sweethearts, it seems that they will have their HEA ending. But on an April night, the two of them watched the football draft where Emmitt was chosen to play in the NFL. Bad decisions and five years pass before they see each other again.
This book spotlights the need for forgiveness, both by God and the person wronged. A sweet story with the HEA ending.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I adored this story. I teared up several times. It was so emotional that my heart broke in places. Emmitt Brown returns to his hometown to confront his biggest regret. Leaving his sweetheart beyond after he was drafted into the NFL. Five years has gone by and his guilt over leaving Mia is greater than ever. Mia is now a widow and works as a waitress to be able to afford a one bedroom apartment for her and her son, Carter. Carter is a fantastic little boy. He is sad and misses his Daddy, who has gone to live in Heaven and wants to know if God will send him another daddy. Just insert a knife in my heart and twist it!!!!
The road to Emmitt and Mia’s HEA is one that is shadowed by Carter’s cancer diagnosis. Watching these characters go through so much while seeking the Lord’s blessing, is charming. I adored the dual POV format here. I look forward to more of this series and more from this author.
This is a faith-filled sweet, clean second chance romance. I highly recommend it to anyone.
A second chance romance of former hometown sweethearts Emmitt and Mia. He became a professional football player and never looked back. Years later he’s taking action on asking for forgiveness and a second chance. The two get along well and have fun together with four year old Carter. A Christian romance with a hea.
When the players of Emmett’s team decide to right their biggest regret in honor of their deceased coach he went to apologize to Mia, his former girlfriend. What he discovers is a widow with a sick child that needs help. What she needs is help but not her heart broken again. Can they not only work together to help her son but maybe have a chance of a happy life together?
This was a really great Christian story. Looking for redemption, giving forgiveness and trusting each other and God to make a better life.
