THE FIRST ROYAL SPYNESS MYSTERY!The New York Times bestselling author of the Molly Murphy and Constable Evan Evans mysteries turns her attentions to “a feisty new heroine to delight a legion of Anglophile readers.”*London, 1932. Lady Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenie, 34th in line for the English throne, is flat broke. She’s bolted Scotland, her greedy brother, and her fish-faced betrothed. … brother, and her fish-faced betrothed. Didn’t finish this. Takes far too long to get to the actual mystery. None of the characters intrigued me.
Love this series
This is a fun series, though, as it progresses, the author’s prejudices against people from particular nations becomes problematic and tiresome. Still, well worth the first four books!
The Audible copy is worth listening to as the voice artist – Katherine Kellgren – does a splendid job of bringing the different characters alive. She is definitely the most talented voice artist I have encountered so far.
I loved this book, and all the mystery that was in it.
Easy reading. Likeable characters. Like reading Downton Abbey
Lady Georgiana sets out to start life on her own in 1920’s London. Unfortunately, her social status means she isn’t fit for any normal job. Even worse, there’s the dead man in her bathtub. The mystery starts late, but I enjoyed every moment of this series debut.
Absolutely delightful! Time travel back to time when vehicles, food, fashion and romance was elegant. If you like the early 20th century, this is the book for you.
I’m hooked on this series! Lots of great information about the time period (depression era) and royalty (“Her Royal Spyness” is 34th in line to the throne). I definitely recommend.
Good mix of cozy mystery and history!
A fun easy to read book. Interesting characters, good plotting and good back story for the characters. Read it when you need distracting from whatever else is going on in your life.
I’m 3 books into the series now and can’t wait to read more. The book is throughly intertaining, and, so hard to put down at bedtime (2:00am and I’m feeling guilty). I try and never can figure out who the “bad guy” is. It is not too predictable or simplistic. Also, not so intense that I can’t just keep reading.More, more, more!
I’ve read all of this series to date, and really liked them! The premise is interesting, that she’s too aristocratic to get a job, but too penniless not to, and she gets into a lot of unusual situations. Very entertaining!
One of my favorite series
After I read this one, I read several more in the series. They are light, entertaining and I enjoy following the characters’ relationships develop.
A fun read. Very entertaining!
I love this series!
Nice light reading. Good mystery.
I love this series by Rhys Bowen. It gets better with each book. Highly recommend it.
I enjoy all the books in this series!
