Bowen’s books came highly recommended to me and I’m so glad I gave it a try! This is a little out of the norm of what I read, but I was so hooked that I plan to finish the series. It’s clever, charming, and compelling!
I love Rhys Bowen’s book, and this new series is her funniest to date, mixing history with romance and mystery and blending it to a delectable concoction.
This was my first Rhys Bowen novel and i loved it! I adore cozy mysteries and creating a sleuth who’s 34th in line to the British throne was wildly fun. The mysteries are no great shakes, but the world of the classes in England between the wars is a fabulous setting and very unique. I’ve already moved onto book two and it didn’t disappoint.
This book was such a perfect read for me. After an epic Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries binge on Netflix (BEST show ever), I’ve been in a huge historical mystery mood. I wanted to find something with a sharp female sleuth and a lush setting, and Her Royal Spyness delivered in spades.
Charming and full of sparkling wit, each page of this book was …
I loved this light mystery from set in the 1930s London. Fast-paced and easy to love, the characters develop quickly and the plot unfolds nicely. There is not an over abundance of detail – just enough to envision the setting and keep the reader interested. Great humor, as well. Loved it and will certainly read more!
loved this book
The first book in a British cozy series set in 1930’s London. Lady Georgiana Rannoch is 30 something in line to the British throne. Her family, like most of the world, is struggling to get by. While doing so, she inevitably gets caught up in a murder and helps solve it. Georgie is a lovable character and I enjoy following her and her friends and …
A most enjoyable whodunit. The first of Her Royal Spyness series. I look forward to reading the rest.
She’s always a fun light read.
I’ve read the whole series. The concept is fun and often provides a different look at historical events and people we all know. The books are very light. The characters are pleasant but they don’t “grow” much over time.
Lighthearted fun. If you are tired of great tragedy and deep complicated characters try this. The characters are fun or funny, the pace is lively. Among other things you might find yourself wondering if perhaps we really should have afternoon tea.
What’s a royal to do when she has no money? This woman tries it all to make her living, but being a royal isn’t all it’s cracked up to be! Her shenanigans will keep you wondering what will happen next.
Gotta love Georgie!
A fun start to a wonderful series!
Simply, I’m hooked!
I love this series. Georgie and her family do not always agree but she is loyal and tries to do her best to help.
Her Royal Spyness (The Royal Spyness Series Book 1) I just love how Rhys Bowen depicts every character and especially their humorous behavior. Each character plays their role so well from the queen to the maid. Many characters have very exaggerated sense of self importance until their true worth is revealed. The murders, mystery and motives are …
“Her Royal Spyness” earns 5/5 Royal Fluffy Dusters…Bloody Brilliant!
In 1932, Lady Victoria Georgiana Charlotte Eugenia (Lady Georgie), cousin to the Prince of Wales and thirty-fourth in line for the crown of England, finds herself in an all too common predicament…unmarried at twenty-one. She has turned down a few candidates, so there aren’t many …
Her royal spyness is a delightful character who always seems to get herself into funny problems and somehow stumbles out safely.
I enjoyed this book so much that I’ve finished 12 books in the series – so far. The 1930s setting has an air of authenticity. You feel like you’re there, but at no point does the setting take over the story. The mystery in each books is well-done. The connection and interaction with the royal family is great. And the main character’s view of her …
