He’s too hot to handle… almost.
Poppy Blaze
After discovering my almost-fiancé had not one, but two “other women” with engagement rings on their fingers, I have decided to give the whole romance thing a break and spend the summer with my granny. Getting back in touch with my childhood summers full of small-town memories—bonfires at the lake, ice cream on Mainstreet, and of course, the biggest fireworks show in the state—sounds like the perfect way to disconnect and reset. That is, until I meet Roman Chandler, one of the newest residents of this tiny town who is about as hot in his uniform as his name suggests.
Too bad I’ve sworn off anything with a wick, right?

Poppy finds out her boyfriend has two fiancees. She goes to stay with her grandmother. Roman is in the army and thought he found the one but she decides she doesn’t want to wait for his deployment to be over. He’s home now and buy his uncle’s place. Poppy and Roman meet and the sparks fly. This is a short story. I really enjoyed it.
I really liked Roman and Poppy’s story these two are great characters they have both been hurt in the past and neither one is looking for love but the minute they meet the chemistry is off the chart. A super read I really enjoyed it
Another short, sweet, and sexy read in the Fireworks series! Roman and Poppy meet by accident…over the last jelly donut. What an adorable meet-cute, and what a sexy little visit to the treehouse later that day.
RATING 4.5 STARS
Her Roman Candle, by Fiona Starr, is a short novella and part of the Fireworks series. This is my first book by Fiona and I loved it. It was a perfect little afternoon interlude and I fell in love with these two characters.
Poppy Blaze thought everything was falling into place in her life. Her career was moving along well, and she was moving in with her boyfriend of two years. Until she discovered her boyfriend had not one but two fiancés. So Poppy decides to take a break and spend the summer in Milltown, Colorado with her Grandmother.
Roman Chandler has just moved to Milltown after being deployed for three years. His long term girlfriend had decided that waiting for him to come home wasn’t something she wanted to do so Roman is starting fresh.
It’s the 3rd of July and Roman and Poppy are in the local bakery, both with their eye on the same jelly donut. When their hands touched, magic happened.
“It was like the world got brighter and she was the light. It happened in an instant and I was addicted.”
I loved this little story! I actually wished it was longer. I didn’t want it to be over yet. So if you want a sexy, sweet story with a guaranteed quick happy ever after, this is for you. I hope it brightens your day like it did mine!
“He is everything.”
All romance, steam and so very well written. I loved this novella. It is short but filled with so many feelings, dareness, taking chances, going for the romance and it is inspiring to others.
A couple that grows on each other and have an instant connection.
I love this series of stories. Absolutely recommending to others.
An entertaining, captivating, and interesting fast pace page turner! It is wonderfully written with intriguing characters; the chemistry between them is instant and off the charts. Definitely recommended.

After Poppy finds out her boyfriend has two fiancé she decides to take a vacation and go to spend some time with her Granny. While she’s there she meets Roman and sparks fly between them. This has her rethinking her plan to pass on men for a while. So she gives Roman a chance and they have an incredible time together. However the next day she sees him giving his phone to another woman and assumes he is a player like her ex and stands him up for their date. Will Roman get a chance to explain?
This is an amazing story that will draw you and captivate you from the first chapter until the last. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

After discovering her boyfriend cheated on her Poppy decides to head home to grandma’s to recoup. Roman is a recent ex-military and his girlfriend broke up with him just as he was coming home. A shared jelly doughnut and sparks fly. Love the way the author brought these two together. This is a fun, short story and a great addition to the Fireworks series. My only complaint is that I wish the story was longer.

A “donut” date can lead to a whole lot of sugar!!!
Poppy has fled to Milltown and back to her grandmother’s house for the summer. A week before her life was great, both personally and professionally. She and her boyfriend of 2 years had just signed a lease to a new apartment and they were about to move in together. However all is not so wonderful as she finds out he is more than a rat, he is engaged to one woman and then she finds him in bed at his apartment with another woman who he is also engaged to. So she is the other woman to 2 other woman………….how’s that for wrapping your head around a situation! I felt so sorry for her as what a thing to deal with in the matter of a couple hours. So she packs up her apartment, as she had already given notice, and puts things in storage before she heads out to recover at her grandmothers for the summer.
Roman has come back after spending 3 years in Kabul as an intelligence officer. He is freshly out of the military and also at a crossroads with his life. His original plan did not go quite as he expected – discharge, move in with girlfriend, shop for a ring, get married and have a family. Unfortunately for him the girlfriend bailed at 2 1/2 years because she did not want to wait any longer.
Poppy and Roman meet at the Milltown Bakery when they both order the last jelly donut. So instead of fighting it out Clara Morton, who owns the place with her husband, cuts it in two and sits these youngsters down for a “donut date”. They enjoy their donut and coffee with a lot of talk and laughter. Roman leaves but Poppy finds his wallet under his chair and tries to catch up with him in town, as they are both doing errands. However, she ends up having to go to his house and one thing leads to another in the tree house out back in the yard. It seems Poppy has some old memories of a first kiss, at 7 years of age, and Poppy and Roman make a few hours of their own memories.
Her Roman Candle is a witty, entertaining, sweet, romantic and just fun story. Fiona Starr has written great characters and weaved fantastic supporting characters into the story in such a way that you can envision Milltown and it’s cast of lovely and warm people. This is a great book to pick up when you need to escape for a couple of hours and want to visit a lovely place.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
The characters, Roman & Poppy were really sweet & I enjoyed getting to know them in this steamy quick read!

Poppy heads to Milltown, Colorado to escape her cheating ex-boyfriend. What she finds is a sense of healing by spending time with her grandmother, and some much needed romance from a hot guy in uniform.
I enjoyed this short story a lot. Witty, flirty and just enough dirty to make it a fun read.
