It’s a typical “city girl goes back to the small town and connects with her former lover” story, made better with smooth writing and an interesting setting, plus the matchmaking cat.
Robyn Neeley’s first book in the Purrfect Pairs series, Her Purrfect Match, is a small town, second chance romance. The setting of this charming town, in Northern California, is the purrfect backdrop for a host of quirky and endearing characters, witty banter, and a plot that is fresh and entertaining. The story that was easy to breeze through…often chuckling along the way…finishing it in one sitting. I’m truly looking forward to the next book in the series…with Belle and kittens in included, there’s no doubt it will be another winner.
I really enjoyed reading this book so much. I read it during the time my granddaughter was finishing her last weeks of online school and I actually used parts of the Honey Bee info to teach her some things we did not know. In this book we begin a new series from Author Robyn Neeley we get to know this really cute little town called Honey Springs, CA. Cassie lives across the country and receives notice that her aunt has passed and left her her home as well as her ‘honey bees” and more fun things in the will. Once Cassie makes it all the way to Honey Springs from NY she also runs into one of her old friends and crush from time visiting her Aunt…Nick Porter. This book is fun and lighthearted and yes there is a cat who loves to play matchmaker it is too. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series.
Ahh! This book is a Hallmark movie waiting to happen. I loved everything about it (and I’m a dog person haha), from the bee-themed, quaint town to the kitten shower in the opening scene. So cute! Quirky and endearing, I especially recommend this for fans of the Gilmore Girls TV show.
A sweet second chance romance that I loved. A small town romance that is set in Honey Springs, California full of quirky residents along with a matchmaking cat. Cassie has returned home after finding out that her grandma left her bee raising farm and the acting temporary mayor. She must hold the position for three weeks. Her high school sweetheart runs the bee farm is surprised the bee farm was not left to him. But soon things might change.
Loved this story, with many laugh out moments. Learned many things about bees even. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I had such a fun time with Cassie and Nick in Her Purrfect Match, the opening title in the Purrfect Pairs series. With a matchmaking cat – and new kittens! – what’s not to love about a second chance to get love right romance?
As teenagers, Nick and Cassie were in love, but life happened and she left with her mother for New York City where she eventually began a career, a fast-track to the corner office type of career. Thoughts of life back in Honey Springs faded into the background as her life got more and more hectic. She was too overcome and involved with work/career to return for visits with her aunt, and even too busy to attend her funeral when she passed. Now she’s heading back to Honey Springs to get out of being the new mayor, settle the estate and head back to NYC and her growing career – she has no desire to linger in California. Until… those old flames with Nick ignited once again, a matchmaking cat has her eyes on this purrfect for each other couple and discovering that maybe being back home is where she’s supposed to be. Unfortunately, there are missteps to overcome like forgetting to be quiet about not wanting to stay long or making a discovery and putting together a plan behind her love’s back that’s going to misfire big time. Cassie’s going to have to work hard for her happy ever after ending – but then, she’s used to hard work.
Her Purrfect Match kept a smile on my face throughout Nick and Cassie’s adventures in both love and angst. If I snort-giggled a few times at the antics of a matchmaking momma cat, well, let’s keep that between me and my Kindle. I had fun, the kind of fun that will have we waiting impatiently to return to this world for the next story in the series. If you adore second chance romances, a couple who has to do some work to get their happy ending – and kittens — then you’re gonna love this one. I’d definitely recommend for any Romance reader no matter your preferred genre. It’s that fun and that good.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This was a sweet and enjoyable read. It’s a great start to a new series. I enjoyed how Robyn mentioned Guac Ole from the Sweet Texas Secrets series. The story is about Cassie and Nick. Cassies’s aunt has passed away leaving her the bee farm, her house, her cat Bella and he job as mayor of the tow. When she was 16, her parents got divorced and her mom brought her to Honey Springs, CA to briefly live with her aunt. The sisters had a falling out and Cassie and her mom return to Manhattan. While she was there, she met Nick and the two briefly dated but both felt they were in love.
Cassie is an ad executive in NYC and on the fast track for a promotion. When she is contacted to go for the reading of the will she initially declines due to her job. Then she’s told she’s acting mayor she decides to go, get out of the mayor role and leave. Nick has been running the bee farm and Looking for ways to enhance it. Cassie’s aunt promised to leave it all to him but he is unpleasantly surprised when instead Cassie is named sole heir at the will reading. Her aunt’s cat is due to have kittens and has taken a liking to Cassie and Nick.
Cassie promises to stay for 3 weeks until they elect a new mayor. She manages to let it slip when she doesn’t realize anyone can hear her that she wants to leave and the townspeople are not too happy with her. She gets the cold shoulder. Nick offer to help her gain the townspeople’s respect by hanging around together. Both still have feelings from 15 years ago so both are happy to do things together. The reader doesn’t know what’s going to happen to Cassie and Nick so there’s some angst and suspense.
This is such a cute story. There are parts that got me choked up. I love a second chance romance and the small town setting. I enjoy reading books by Robyn, they are always enjoyable. The cat, Bella, added another sweet touch. I highly recommend the book.
This is a beautiful sweet romance that is just sheer escapism I thoroughly enjoyed it and read it has quick as I could as I didn’t want to put it down
Belle is the cat that Cassie has inherited from her Aunt Etta along with her honey bee farm and job as the town mayor She spent time with her Aunt Etta years earlier before her mother took her to New York and in that time she had a teenage romance with Nick. What she doesn’t know is that Nick is her Aunts head beekeeper and he is disgruntled that she left everything to Cassie after promising to leave it all to him after all Cassie hasn’t returned in all that time not even for a visit. Wanting to return to her fast paced advertising job Cassie arrives determined to clear up everything before she leaves but when the townsfolk hear that she is cold shouldered Can Nick help her with thew town and will their interest in one another spark again You will have to read to see
2.5 stars
This is only the second book I’ve read by this author. While I enjoyed the story, it didn’t quite reach the same status as the first book I read in my mind.
The first thing I realized was the story was going to follow the Hallmark movie formula. You know the one – big city, stressed out woman is forced to go to a small town and realizes the big city isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Personally, I love those Hallmark movies. And, to be quite honest, in this high stress time I was almost relieved I knew the formula for this book so I could just relax and enjoy.
Surprisingly, although Cassie does have a high stress job in New York and not much of a life outside of work, her job wasn’t portrayed as the enemy. And, in many ways, the small California town she goes to isn’t as slow-paced and syrupy sweet as expected. In fact, that ended up a bit of a problem for me. Some of the residents were downright mean to Cassie. Of course there needs to be conflict, but sometimes I felt as though everyone in Honey Springs was extremely selfish. They expected this woman to drop her entire life to spend 3 weeks there with no regard to what she was leaving behind. What if she was a teacher? Would they expect her to leave her classroom full of kids for that long? What if what they were asking of her (or, more accurately, guilting her into) caused her to lose her job, her home, or any other number of things? Now, if this issue had been addressed by any of the townspeople maybe I wouldn’t have felt so hostile toward them. But truly, I didn’t see the allure of the town at all.
Nick and Cassie have a romantic history from their teen years. A brief but intense relationship. Both believing the other to be “the one” at the time, about 15 years ago. As often happens with your first love, they were not in charge of their own fate since they were still underage. Cassie’s mom moved them out of town and back across the country. Nick, being the person in town who has the most reason to resent Cassie, is the only kind face in the crowd. I enjoyed their friendship and looked forward to their interactions. The how and why of the end of their teen romance is a bit muddled, but the reader gets the gist of what happened. The problem is, I didn’t feel the intensity. Yes, they are sweet together. But that pull? The chemistry? Not really there.
On top being miffed at the town and wanting more of a connection between the hero and heroine, there were quite a few continuity issues. I’ve said it here before, I’m a stickler for continuity and often notice it flubs where others don’t. It’s the way my brain works. In this book, while there were more than I would expect, they didn’t impact the story. My issue with such things is that it takes me out of the story, which is annoying.
I’m sure I’ll give this author another try. I didn’t love this book, but I also didn’t dislike it either. It worked as an escape, and that’s what I want from my reading. Plus, I’m curious as to how the next story will shake out. Despite my disgruntlement with most of the town, a few characters started growing on me by the end.

Her Purrfect Match by Robyn Neeley
Anything is paw-sible…
Ad exec Cassie Wilkerson is on the fast track to a Manhattan corner office when she’s suddenly called to quaint Honey Springs, California. She hasn’t visited the town since she was 16, but her aunt has passed away and inexplicably left Cassie her honeybee farm, her matchmaking cat, Belle, and the job of acting mayor.
But Cassie’s quick trip to sort this out turns into a three-week stay. This fish-out-of-water needs the help of the farm’s foreman and her former crush, Nick Porter, to win over the locals. With a few nudges from Belle, old feelings rekindle, and her former fast-paced life no longer seems quite as attractive as a second chance in Honey Springs.
Then Cassie discovers Nick’s been quietly crafting honey-based skin care items, which could be an ideal new product line for one of her big-city clients. But when Nick realizes she’s been making big plans behind his back, he thinks he’ll never be good enough for ambitious Cassie. Can she prove that a future with him in it is all she really needs?
This is Cassie Wilkerson and Nick Porter’s story.
Cassie Wilkerson lowered her torso into a downward dog position, inhaled deeply through her nose, and breathed out through her mouth. A simple move that would be far less awkward if she were sprawled out in her Manhattan high-rise living room in her red tank top and yoga pants, and not attempting it on her office carpet in a sleek, black pencil skirt and patent leather high heels.
Nevertheless, it was her go-to move when she needed to calm her nerves and stay in control. She brought her chin to her chest and inhaled through her nose. You got this. Absolute . . . total . . . control . . .
“Hey, Cassie. Well, this is interesting.”
I live here.” He grinned, adjusting the cuffs on his black and white flannel shirt. “Right.” It really shouldn’t be a surprise that he’d never left Honey Springs.
“Right.” It really shouldn’t be a surprise that he’d never left Honey Springs. From what she remembered, most of the town’s residents didn’t. He gave a nod toward the municipal building. “I heard a rumor you were appointed interim mayor.”

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC from Tule Publishing.
I enjoyed Her Purrfect Match (Purrfect Pairs #1) more than I enjoyed any other book I remember reading written by Robyn Neeley. That is not to say that I didn’t like her other books or the characters. It just that this more quirky than quaint little town of Honey Springs, California was a wonderful diversion from the happenings of 2020. In addition, dogs have become common place in books, some mentioned in this one too but I loved the cat who had a starring role.
Cassie Wilkerson is transplanted for three weeks in this story which is not a long time for a story but works because she has a distant past with this place. She also has a short past with Nick Porter who still lives and works on her late aunt’s bee farm. Some of the situations that Cassie was thrust into were a little over the top with me finding it not quite believable that she would be so vulnerable. The relationship with Nick and with Belle the matchmaking cat were right on spot.
At the conclusion, the reader gets a glimpse at whom Belle has set her sites on next. Since it is not a brand new newcomer, I expect that pranks won’t seem so unlikely. I look forward to reading it since Bella was a hit for me in Her Purrfect Match.

An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Absolutely adorable.
Belle, the matchmaking cat of Honey Springs, California, is at it again. This time she has set her sight on Cassie and Nick, who were once a couple when they were teenagers. Cassie just inherited her aunt Etta’s honeybee farm and didn’t realize Nick was her aunt’s head beekeeper. Nick is upset that Etta didn’t have enough faith in him and gave everything to Cassie, who never even returned to visit after she left for New York City fifteen years ago. Belle sure has a tough job if she wants to get these two back together.
This book was so much fun to read. Of course, the matchmaking cat got my attention right off, but the story kept me entertained through many emotional and hilarious scenes. I liked the quirky characters who lived in Honey Springs, a town with everything from streets to businesses having a bee theme name. I could easily picture this story as a Hallmark movie, and I can tell you now, it might be my favorite. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.
I absolutely adored this novel full of small town drama, quirky characters, matchmaker cat, and, of course, second chances. It is such a delightful, easy to read book that you will love.
