It’s hard to write a less than stellar review since I realize authors’ books are so special to them. This was an OK read with a predictable but good storyline. The main problem for me was the lack of maturity of both characters, especially Belle. The number of chances she gave her mean, annoying friend was not only annoying but also ultimately unrealistic—maybe OK for a younger set of people but not for a couple this age. The dialogue and actions became overdone, stilted, and repetitive. All in all, the book seemed too wordy, at times almost contrived or fake. However, I did finish the book and very much appreciated the “clean” approach. An easy, quick read with potential.
A very sweet story. I love how she developed through the book. I love how the drama wasn’t between the couple. It is a very sweet, romantic, story.
Cute story with likable lead characters. Wonderful Belle who is talented but seems to pick rotten friends, hard working, but struggling to make ends meet. Wonderful Tristan who is tired of women only interested in one thing–his billions. Easy reading, nothing too complex or heavy here. A few little editing errors, but nothing that spoiled it for me. And I actually read the entire story–out of the last 4 books I’ve started, it’s the only one. So that says a lot!
Based on the premise, I really wanted to like this book. Tristan is a billionaire who wants to just be himself as he is tired of people wanting to get close to him because he’s a billionaire. Belle wins a free cruise trip that she otherwise couldn’t afford. There’s some instant attraction between Belle and Tristan as they’re standing in line to check in for the cruise. Their rooms are adjacent and they naturally keep running into each other.
The interactions between Tristan and Belle are cute. The author lost me when Belle’s ex and new fiancee (Belle’s former best friend) end up on the same cruise and Belle keeps getting sucked into their drama. Their explanation for being on the cruise was plausible (the former BFF found out and booked the same cruise). Where it really broke down – Belle just kept taking crap from these people. A little too much ‘woe is me’… you tell yourself that they’re toxic yet you keep hanging out with them. Tristan is allegedly a smart businessman as he built up his grandfather’s company and then went on his own. He was a bit wimpy in his defense of Belle and I couldn’t really buy that he was some badass businessman billionaire.
Overall a decent read.
This was an interesting story. Couldn’t wait to see the interaction between the characters. Ended well.
The characters were a little to sweet and perfect.
I loved this book. Love wins.
