I enjoyed this story very much until it was almost over. The author still could have had a good story (better in my opinion) without having Jack and Tauni fornicate *sad face*. Also, the over protective, control freak dad just suddenly forgives and likes Jack. The ending disappointed me and I think it wrapped up too quick.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
I do not normally read YA romance but this one drew me in immediately and I enjoyed reading it. Jack and Tauni are high school seniors when they met and both have solid plans for their future. Loved the way they handled their relationship and he has a wonderful family that made Tauni (single child) feel part of their family.
I was surprised by how invested I got with the characters in this book, Tauni with her over protective but absent father and Jack with his large loving family. High school was a long time ago for me but Taylor Hart took me back to those days and atmosphere. I can recommend this book.
I did not realize that Her Navy Seal Cowboy First Love was actually a YA romance. I got it because I love Taylor Hart books. I was immediately sucked into this story. It is an extremely well written story of two seniors who are actively pursuing their respective dreams. They clash, are assigned a joint project, and try to deny their growing attraction. The characters are very well done – especially Tauni’s father. I highly recommend this sweet romance.
This is the story of Jack, the oldest Summerville teenager, and Tauni, a new student at their high school. Both are seniors with dreams and aspirations when they graduate. Jack wants to enlist in the U.S. Navy and become a SEAL; Tauni wants to fulfill her dead mother’s dream and attend Harvard.
This book is well written and includes all the angst that goes with teenage love. The characters are lovable and I adored the dynamics of the Summerville family (they make me wish I was one of the nine kids!). Tauni, on the other hand, is the daughter of an active U.S. SEAL who is gone more than he is home. Her father and his rules are stifling and controlling, even when he is deployed. As Jack and Tauni spend time together, their feelings deepen and they find themselves in unchartered territory. Neither is prepared to fall in love.
If you like reading new adult romances, the Summerville family series is a sure bet.
I had an ARC copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I enjoyed reading Taylor Hart’s new book. The characters were believable and interesting. The plot held my interest and had several twists and turns which added to the story.
I wasn’t expecting this to be a high school romance! I thought it was just the first chapter – like a prolog and then the rest of the book would be the two main characters would be older, but no, Jack and Tauni are two high school seniors through the book and it’s about their ups and downs. It was really good! I haven’t read a book about young love in quite awhile! I loved Jack’s family – his siblings and his parents were awesome! They were perfect for Tauni, who was an only child and her dad was a Navy SEAL who was gone a lot. The one thing I thought was a little strange was that when he went on deployment, Tauni was left alone. It’s not like he was just going out of town for the weekend! Tauni wasn’t even 18 and she living alone in her house – just thought that was a little strange! Sure the dad checks on her every night through technology but still…. Good thing she has Jack’s family to check on her make sure she’s ok. Good story. The ending is interesting.
