Regan’s best book yet!
What a read and what a ride that was. Drew me in from the word go, a real nail biting page turner, fast-paced and kept me guessing as to “whodunit!”
Great series
I read this is three days. I don’t read anything that fast.
I’ve read this entire series and I’m in awe. Seriously! I was on the verge of tears nearly the entire time I was reading this book. I’m sure a lot of that has to do with being so familiar with Josie at this point and just being totally invested…maybe it hit me on the mom level…I don’t know, but it hit me.
I read this really fast. I was so engrossed in the story and flipping pages like a mad woman. I immediately turned back to page one to read it again when I was finished.
I love this entire series, but hands down, this book is my favorite. Some of the things revealed in this story are heart-wrenching yet so incredibly wonderful at the same time.
The slowly growing relationship between Josie and Noah is perfectly paced. I love his character too. His goodness is such a great contradiction to everything else in her life and she needs that. Readers need that. The loyalty of Josie’s entire staff, her memories of Ray, her memories of her father, it’s all so well done.
I didn’t figure out the end until I was there! I thought a million different things but I didn’t suspect anything like what was the actual truth. Between 72% and 85% I was … jeez … completely thrown.
This book in an emotional powerhouse and that’s saying something considering Josie’s nerves of steel.
Best. Book. Ever. An absolute 5-star read! Don’t start this unless you have time to finish it in one sitting because you won’t be able to put it down.
Lisa Regan’s Detective Josie Quinn series IS THE BOMB! Seriously, every single book is stellar! Just read The Girl with No Name (Bk 2) and Her Mother’s Grave (Bk 3) back to back. I cannot get enough! Highly recommend if you like unputdownable suspense with complicated characters and twisted plots!
This book had a great plot line, but areas of it were a little bit bogged down in unnecessary information and in three places I had to skip through it. The characters were great.
Awesome! Best yet of the series! #booktrib
This is the first book in this series I have read, and it was really good! Detective Josie Quinn is called to a crime scene for a found body. Josie grew up in the Moss Gardens Trailer Park and played in the woods as a child where the body was found. This book combines Josie’s awful childhood and her abusive mother with the present and the mystery surrounding the murdered body. I enjoyed the mystery of the book and it kept me guessing until the end. I will be checking out the other books in the series.
This is the third book in the Detective Josie Quinn series, and I will be buying ALL other books in this series! This novel was SO good, it gripped you from the back cover and you really had no idea what was going to happen next or where the clues were going to lead. It was such a good, page turner thriller.
Josie gets called out to some woods, where some boys who were digging fox holes, uncovered some bones, that appeared to be human. DNA comes back and the name of the woman who was buried there, has the same name as someone from Josie’s past. Someone she planned on never having to deal with ever again. But how is this possible? This body appears to have been here for decades, so it cannot be this other woman.
Josie knows that as they start running down leads, her past may finally have to be told. Is she too close to this case, or can she keep a straight head on about all of this. Being back in those woods hit too close to her. This was the same woods she played in as a kid, and the same woods her father also had killed himself in, and now this body. Seems like someone or something is out to get her, as everything seems to tie back to her.
This novel has so much more to the storyline, but I do not want to give anything away. There are tons of more twists, turns, and characters that you didn’t think could be connected. I really enjoyed this thriller, and will be looking to get the others in the series. This book was just fine to be read as a stand alone, but I do want to read the others.
Thank you to Grand Central Publishing for the free book, and introducing me to a new author. I look forward to more of Josie’s story!
Atmospheric, sharp, and engrossing!
Her Mother’s Grave is an elaborately plotted police procedural that highlights how manipulative and evil people can truly be and reminds us that even the darkest, most long-buried secrets often have a way of coming to light.
The writing style is smooth and seamless. The characters, including the tenacious, strong, scarred heroine, are relentless, hardworking, and astute. And the plot using flashbacks and short, intense chapters immerses you in an ominous tale full of twists, turns, secrets, obsession, mayhem, deduction, attraction, abuse, violence, childhood trauma, swirling emotions, and murder.
I have to say that all I kept thinking while reading this novel is why have I not heard of or read a book in this series before and how can I get my hands on more of them as quickly as possible. Her Mother’s Grave is an intricately woven, meticulous, sinister tale that has all the elements you look for in a thrilling mystery, with its fully-developed characters and authentic grittiness it keeps you absolutely riveted and undoubtedly eager for more.
Book #3 in the series and (in my opinion) the best one so far. I wrote down my prediction within the first chapter and I’m was 1/2 right.
Same great characters, some new evil characters, some not so new evil characters, a new plot, lots of action, lots of guessing, of course Josie still does things her way, and, of course, it works out in the end.
Again, these can be read as stand-alone, but I don’t recommend it because the previous books lend some insight to the characters.

Love this detective!
This is one of those books that stays with you well after you have absorbed the last word, closed the book, and set it aside. Wow! This book dealt a punch! I could not put it down and sat on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next.
The story is told through flashbacks to Josie Quinn’s childhood. I know there are sick and manipulative people out there, but Josie’s “mom” takes that to a new level. There are twists and turns, secret revealed, horrors discovered, lies brought to light, and you will cringe and cry out at times in reponse.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookoutre for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. I have been a Lisa Regan fan since reading my first Josie Quinn book. I am now a huge fan for life! I will be reading every book in this series and look forward to many adventures in the future.
Josie Quinn is one of my favorite characters.
This was good, really good. It had all a good thriller should have: mystery, suspense and a lot of crazy. A page turner, with short chapters alternating between present and Josies childhood. And what a horrible childhood it was. A psychopath mother, who did all to destroy what little happiness her child might have. a must read, I highly recommend.
Love Lisa Regan, look for her books often
A page turner, becareful the suspence might make you go the last page
This book had so many twists and turns. I really reading it. The characters were very relatable. I could put it down.
I love Josie: never a dull moment with her, This was a very good and believable story line, Every turn brought a new twist; keeps the surprises and suspense coming and you are drawn right in.
Wow this books tells a story you wish no one ever had to experience but it is also very hard to put down I finished this story @ 3:47 this morning so when you start it make sure you’re not scheduled anywhere the next day.
