Her Majesty’s Witch, a member of the secret society of the Grigori, and married to Emmet, a former angel with the capability to transform into a golem, Bayla’s life is complex, to say the least.
As if her life was not complicated enough, Bayla’s beloved husband is plagued with becoming a golem without notice while unconscious. A trip to visit Herr Doctor Sigmund Freud becomes necessary to get to … get to the root of Emmet’s spontaneous golemness.
Add in a greedy archaeologist, an awakened malevolent Egyptian mummy, and an uninvited trip to the Ottoman Empire’s harem, and matters are complicated to the point of having global consequences.
Can Bayla and the Golem defeat an evil Egyptian Priest and his horde of flesh eating revenants before he turns Her Majesty’s Empire into the Nile Valley?

This is a second book in the steampunk series with Bayla and Emmet, Bayla is a witch in her majesty’s service and her husband is a golem.
Queen Victoria plays an important role in this book along with Sigmund Freud who needs to be consulted because Emmet is turning into a golem in his sleep. There are also an evil mummy trying to take over the world and hungry revenants and a rescue from a harem to keep things interesting.

Great Story! You can’t go wrong in listening to a book penned by Eva Gordon! This being Book 2 of A Bayla and the Golem series, Bayla and Emmet continue their adventures as they fight evil and save the world from the havoc rent by power hungry villains. The plot line of this book is filled with intriguing suspense and is action-packed. The narrator does an excellent job in bringing this story to life. Our heroine is a witch in her majesty’s service which leads her into many sticky situations.
This is book two of the series. It does just fine as a standalone, although I do have a strong desire to go back for some of the history.
This is a steampunk novel through and through, with lots of other bits thrown in. The story is very well written and highly enjoyable, with a complex setting that I cannot get enough of. Then there are the well developed characters that add personality to the story, along with bits of humor, romance and intrigue. I felt the story was fast paced and I was drawn in from the start. When it ended, I wanted to know where the next book was. (There isn’t one at the time of this review.) Overall, highly addictive and highly enjoyable.
As well as highly recommended.

Her Majesty&s Witch is a fun action packed steampunk tale. There are precocious teenage twin girls creating marvelous devices to aid the Queen and her agents, a handsome hero whose power is to turn into granite, an evil villain or two and Dr. Freud in Vienna! I recommend this book to readers who enjoy action, a heroine in multiple dangerous situations, some heat, some humor and a desire to experience a slightly different Steampunk book.

The second book in the A Bayla and the Golem Novel series a well written story that has a great storyline and the story flowed smoothly across the pages.” A Victorian world of supernatural creatures, magnificent airships, a secret society, and one bluestocking adventuress, who along with the golem, keep evil at bay.” This series just gets better with each new book, once started I was not putting this book down. There is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, twins, evil revenants, villains, and romance. I wonder if there will be another book in this series? One of my favorite authors and she doesn’t disappoint with taking you away for a while.
Wow what can l say, l loved book one and this is fantastic too. This character is my hero, such a strong, independent and intelligent woman. l know l am waxing lyrical here but it’s not often l find a meaty book with good size and attention to detail and so interesting. The narration was perfect for these characters and story subject.
so l guess it’s no surprise when l say l recommended this book to serious readers. l admire this authors talent, l think she will be around for a long time
