Marla Majestic – known as Marla Majesty and often Her Majesty to those who barely manage to tolerate her – is not happy. The man she’s dated off and on since high school, the man she fully expected to marry one day, is engaged to someone else. For the first time in her life, neither her money nor social standing is of any use to her. Chas MacKenzie is in love, and it’s not with Marla. Furious, … she intends to put a stop to it, in any way possible.
Until Chas’ best friend, Pete (Crunch) Benedict gets in the way.
Pete has known Marla forever. In fact, she was his high school crush. When he gets wind of her plans to thwart Chas’ wedding, he does the only thing he can – he takes Marla in hand. Marla doesn’t know it, but Pete has no intention of ever letting her go.
Publisher’s Note: This steamy contemporary romance contains elements of power exchange.

THIS IS THE CANDY SHOW—DO YOU WANT TO BE PART OF IT OR NOT?
The third story in the Sassy Girls series will begin with the wedding of Babe and Chas, but it isn’t one without issues. Candy, baby sister, and brat extraordinaire has shown her true colors with the selection of wedding gowns for Babe. In her last effort to try and sway Chas from marrying Babe, but it doesn’t go the way she wanted. Marla Majestic will rescue Babe with a beautiful dress for the reception—and her talents for making the reception perfect for these newlyweds. But Candy isn’t in the clear—oh no, Mark, friends with Chas calls her out and even tells her she needs a spanking—and she accepts his challenge.
“Let me show you what happens to naughty little women who deliberately cause trouble and hurt others out of spite and selfishness.”
Was it curiosity, something she didn’t think would actually happen or had Candy really had too much to drink at the reception? She will accept his offer and let Mark take her home, but it isn’t long for her to discover that Mark is a dominant man, and this isn’t a ‘slap and tickle’ scenario. He gives her a second out, and she refuses and learns what a discipline spanking is. But that isn’t where it ends for these two. Have they had a secret attraction for one another over all these years? Is it the alcohol taking control—or has Mark found something he wants to explore further with Candy, and will she let him?
“Candace McKenzie, I’m staking my claim here and now. You will belong to me, body, and soul.”
The story will have Candace finding out her parents are on to her, and this time, she isn’t getting away with it—she will be given an ultimatum that angers her. While they offer her three months to find a place, in her fit of rage, she packs and leaves. When she arrives for her dinner at Mark’s house, she is late, but he allows her the option of staying—under his rules.
“You’ll never amount to anything as long as you have everything handed to you.” –Mary
“We love you. You’re our daughter, but we can no longer condone your behavior. As it is, we’ve been overly lenient with you for far too long.” –George
Candy has always lived her life getting her way, and this is a reality check, wake-up call. She will hear the truth and must accept that she has been a brat and hurt too many people. Mark is willing to let her stay and even helps her with a job doing what she does well interior designs. He will listen to her ideas with an open mind and goes as far as allowing her a budget and plans for an older home to remodel. For once, someone shows faith in what she does.
“She was an enigma. Clever, talented, cute as the proverbial button and could be as mean as a viper. How was a man supposed to deal with a woman like that, he wondered tiredly?”
“Perhaps for the first time in her life, there might be a man who thought consequences were exactly what she needed. Maybe he was right. Do tell, oh enlightened one.”
“You, my beautiful undisciplined little brat will always pay the piper when you do wrong. Don’t fool yourself into thinking I’m easy to please. I’m not.” He would be fair, firm, and loving.”
The chemistry between these two is full of angst, but also electric and sizzles off the pages. No one has ever really told Candy no or held her accountable for her actions, but Mark is going to change that, one way or another. From discipline, a stern discussion, and holding her accountable, she will find that the world doesn’t revolve around her whims. Actions have consequences. Mark wants to explore the dynamics of a dominant submission relationship with domestic discipline, and Candy agrees to his edicts.
“I guess because I’m what you accused me of being. I’m a spoiled little brat who’s jealous of anyone who steals the attention of my family away from me. I’m a rotten person, and I don’t know why you put up with me. Face it; we’re a couple of misfits in our own way.”
The story has angst, discipline, passion, and two people discovering that they click together. Will this just be temporary, or are they willing to give it time and see where things go? I love how he keeps her in line, but allows her some freedom, as long as it remains positive. His support of her talents without him trying to take control is just want she needs.
The story will read well as a stand-alone, but to understand some of the characters, read the first two books, they all tie together. There are several well-deserved spankings, plenty of honest, heart to heart conversations, and erotic sex scenes.
“I don’t think real love has any rhyme or reason; I think it just is or it isn’t.”

Excellent balance of ‘hot’ and great writing
Loved this story. The characters felt real, and the author was able to convey some depth even though the story could easily have been longer. Pete was a great strong alpha type without the bully feel some authors convey. He was able to be strong without making Marla weak. Loved that. I loved the real Marla that was revealed and appreciated that it wasn’t a change to someone new, but someone she was all along. Nicely done. Took off 1/2 of one star because the ending was a little abrupt and could have been flushed out a little more.

I agreed to read an ARC of this book from Blushing Books and had no clue what to expect, as I had not only not read the first book in the series, I’d never read the author’s other works either.
Without knowing what went on in Book 1, Book 2 is a bit confusing at first. Mind you, it doesn’t take you long to put it all together, and at the start, you will really, REALLY hate the heroine in this book. She is the epitome of everything bad about a woman’s character. But, is she really?
NOTICE – PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE Domestic Discipline with BDSM. Spanking is a part of a lot of kinky play, not just BDSM, and to recommend this book to people who only get into BDSM, is really an insult to the book. This book will appeal to a lot of women (and maybe men, what do I know?). Yes, there are two whole spankings in this book. I think most women are mature enough to understand the heroine isn’t about to be bound, chained, and whipped.
There is only one reason why this book received four stars from me instead of five. One only…the ending of this book is abrupt, without the romance I was hoping for. And it also didn’t fill in the blanks. Yes, the friendship between “Ms. Majesty” and Babe was believable, because I think it finally dawned on everyone that the whole jealousy thing was going no where. BUT, the dress was a surprise, with no backstory, except the initial cost, and that had been chapters before. Plus all of a sudden there was yet another character being introduced in the final 20 pages or so of a book. It muddied the waters and diluted the ending and I deducted a star for it. An editor would have told the author that introducing a character at the end of a book without any background was a bad idea, and especially one that could have played a HUGE role in what had transpired (I assume she hated Babe as much as “Her Majesty” did) was a huge mistake. Other than that, you’ll enjoy the book. It is light reading, it is funny in places, just a tad sad in others. It contains domestic discipline, so if that upsets you, you probably should steer clear, but please do not mistake this for BDSM (that’s a pet peeve of mine).
When you want revenge but someone else has other ideas
Marla is definitely a real handful to say that least but she is also a person who is lost to herself. Pete is definitely man enough to tame Marla and make sure she behaves like she has not before along with try to help her.
Her Majesty’s Downfall was really well written and had a lot of depth and emotion to it, once we got there. There is not a lot of light spanking but there is a lot of sizzling chemistry between Marla and Pete. My complaint is that the ending was rushed and very abrupt.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This is a really nice fun plot by an author I have never read before this book. Being book 2 in the series didn’t matter, I was able to read and thoroughly enjoy this story. The characters are well developed and for most of the story they are fun. Love doesn’t go quite the way Marla expects it to and she also learns some lessons along the way to her own HEA.
