This is book one in the Shifter Special Forces series and a fantastic way to start. Quinn is retired special forces and Lacey is taking a well needed vacation after losing her job and before she has to start looking for another. Love the way the author brought Quinn and Lacey together and how it didn’t take them long to figure out they belonged together. The writing is good, the story flows and the characters are well developed.
A good start to the new series from Summer Donnelly. I have read a lot of shifter stories, and this is the first one where someone chose a mastiff as the animal.
Lacey’s best friend sent Lacey on vacation to pick up the pieces of the life and finally mold her life the way she wanted it. Little did she know this vacation would change her life for good.
Tarquinn “Quinn” Maxwell has been living in solitude since he left the military, where he was a part of a program that changed the genic makeup of some soldiers that turned them into shifters. Quinn signed away any chance of happiness when he decided to take part of the shifter program. Now he is living alone outside of Silver Fells, which has slowly become a shifter haven. He never expected a human female to show up and turn his life upside down. Can Lacey and Quinn find their happiness? I am looking forward to a second book, so that some of the other shifters can find a mate to open their heart to. I would also be open to more suspense in the next book.
The story was good, and it was a fairly quick read which I loved. Stories like this are a guilty pleasure on a cold Sunday, curled up on the coach in front of the fireplace.
My Thoughts – 5 out of 5 Unicorns – I loved it!!!
***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! I bought this book because it intrigued me, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!
The cover is what attracted me because I love shifter books especially when they are the heroes!
This is the first book in this series, and it is also my first time reading anything by Summer. It is only about 80 pages long, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content.
This was a quick read, but I really like Summer’s style and writing women who are strong and love that is fairy tale like. Lacey is a strong woman who doesn’t let anyone push her around, and her cat is awesome especially when Zoe wants her to get up. I don’t want to give anything away, but Lacey and Quinn are meant for each other. Quinn is a protector for sure, and he takes care of them all but takes nothing for himself. I’m actual surprised how much I loved this story because I usually want more action and adventure in my books though I do secretly hope Lacey is able to change things in this world for the shifters.
I highly recommend to any shifter fans who love mates and how that love works! I can’t wait to read more in this series!! I already bought book 2!
