Three years ago, Griff and Miranda met on a train and their lives were changed forever when the train they were on crashed alongside the Pacific Ocean. This husband and wife always assumed their deep love had healed them from the traumatic events of that day, but one night of honesty reveals the deeper pain that had remained hidden. As they delve into each other’s souls, Griff realizes Miranda … has been holding back. What couldn’t she tell him? He prays to God he finds out, so that he can keep his wife and daughter safe.

This was previously Protecting Hope but had been majorly updated and expanded.
I’m not usually a fan of books which flick from one time period to another but this was done in such a clever way that I actually managed to not get lost LOL!
We see Mirance and Griff in the current day and how they are managing their careers with parenthood, deployments, time constraints and of course the threats they come to face. This is interspersed with glimpses back to how Miranda and Griff met (talk about a big guy brought to his knees by a very capable, independent and damn organised woman!)
We get a more in-depth look inside their thought and feelings for each other, then and now. There were a few tears, a few smiles and, of course, more than a few obscenities as the threats towards Miranda and Livvy escalate.
Great romance, plenty of action and suspense. Great to see all my fave Black DawnMidnight Delta crew peppered throughout. I cannot wait for Billy to get his own book – that boy is going to break hearts!!!
Dang, I think Miranda has 9 lives but may have used up a few. This one’s going to have you on the edge of your seat, holding your breath, chanting, yelling in your head or out loud, with tears running down your face. Then it will turn you on or make you laugh at some off the wall comment. I not only sighed my happy sigh, but a sigh of relief from the intensity of events, at the end.
The story is gripping from the time Griff and Miranda met, until current day events when Miranda’s past becomes a direct threat. I loved Griff, got so mad at Miranda for trying to handle things, but however I felt, I felt it deeply. This journey read so fast, I really felt spit out at the end, waking back up to real time
Told through a series of three year old memories of a deadly train wreck, Miranda and Griff finally bare their souls to one another. The gut wrenching fear they faced. The courage they needed to help not only each other but their friends and fellow passengers. In addition, Miranda’s assignment as project manager on a top secret job has put a target on her back. Griff frantically works to keep her and their daughter safe from a threat posed from an unexpected source. Powerfully emotional reading.
Talk about an adventure times two! Her Honorable Hero packed a heavy punch.
I adored getting to see Griff and Miranda married and with a baby, and living life. And finally ready to face their past together. I loved getting to experience how they met and how they survived the train wreck. Talk about intense and crazy scary. The way their “how I met you and feel in love” story was told was pretty cool mixing in present day interactions with looking back in time memories.
And then, once we process all that, there’s a new threat looming that makes you hurt and ache and feel all anxious living and breathing it all out along side them.
I adore how Griff treated Miranda and showed his love and devotion to her, through darkness and light. I loved his heart and the depths of emotions he had for his family. I loved Miranda’s strength and passion and intensity. She knew herself and knew she could take care of herself, but learned that it was okay to depend on and lean more on her husband.
The trouble they faced at the end totally left me on edge and I couldn’t stop till I reached the end.
Yet again, I find myself enthralled in an amazing story and placed it on my favorites shelf next to many other Black Dawn books. If you love depth and excitement and bonds of friendship and family mixed in with your military romantic suspense, this book–no, this whole series–is one to escape into.
You can’t go wrong with a book by Caitlyn O’Leary. Her books are fun and action packed.
I read Protecting Hope which was a Kindle world book and I love the way Caitlyn has totally revised it into this book.
The original story becomes flashbacks as all the players work their way through the lingering emotions that plague them even though it’s three years in the past.
The memories are triggered at a party where Hope reads a story she’s written. Oh the tears.
Once home Griff and Miranda realize they haven’t really moved forward, and Miranda, well she’s still keeping secrets from him.
Even with the problems that surface about the train crash, there is more going on now that Miranda needs to tell Griff.
Plenty of suspense combined with the emotional retelling of the crash make this book a page turning read.
There’s also plenty of heat in this story as their love for each other and their daughter just shines through.
Griff and Miranda went through a horrible train crash 3 years ago, and its something that still haunts them. Sometimes things from out past just can’t be kept hidden…and Miranda is quickly learning this. I just adored Protecting Hope when it came out, and I have fallen for this couple all over again. Miranda is such an amazing strong woman, and she is lucky to have a strong man watching her back.
Her Honorable Hero: WOW! Full of Surprises and great suspense. Fantastic writing and characters. Great bunch of woman and men in the story. Loved it!
A great read by Caitlyn. I love all the suspense and the action. This is a continuation of another book with them which I haven’t read. So it was a little confusing for me.

Her Honorable Hero is book 7 in the Black Dawn series by Caitlyn O’Leary, about a day that can change your life forever…
This book is about a couple we met in previous books, now married Griff and Miranda Porter still continue to have flashbacks to the fateful day three years ago that changed their lives but brought them together into a wonderful marriage an beautiful baby girl…but Miranda’s demons still rears it’s ugly head and while she knows she needs help she’s afraid she can’t be helped…
Can Griff get her to open up, let the demons out and breakdown all her w.ls for good or will her past eventually ruin her HEA???
Miranda had a high-pressure job and a hot, sexy SEAL and they had an adorable little girl. Three years earlier they shared a horrific experience that brought their budding relationship into full bloom. Griff had fallen from day one, Miranda took a little longer.
After that experience, they thought it was the worst that would ever happen to them. Unfortunately…
Most romances start with day one and run through their relationship and falling in love, ending with the HEA. You’ll find this one a little different. Actually, a lot different. Griff and Miranda are both strong, brave heroes. They both work in government work with secret projects and duties. Their love is deep, steamy, and not easy with two super strong personalities. The emotional draw from the reader is amazing. I could not put this down from page one to that awful THE END. I wanted it to go on and on.
We get to see the team at work but not on an assigned mission. This one is personal. When one of their teammates or their loved ones is in danger these exceptional men get together to save them. Once again I have to say this is one of the best books I’ve read. Thanks, Ms. O’leary.
Once again Caitlyn O’Leary delivered! Her Honorable Hero is Griff and Miranda’s story. They meet on a commuter train. Griff is a Navy SEAL, taking the train because he’s been helping his mother with his father’s care. Miranda is an analyst with top clearance working on a project for the government. Over time, they had gotten to know one another. Griff’s Dad has started to turn the corner in his illness, and Griff felt free to finally ask Miranda for a date. On that day, their commuter train was in a horrific crash. Many people were killed. Miranda and Griff survived, with the help of Griff’s fellow team members, and other SEAL teams, but Miranda had life threatening injuries. We learn Griff and Miranda’s story in flashbacks. I loved the way their story was told. Many things are learned, and secrets are revealed in a way that makes for a fascinating story. I highly recommend this book.
I loved this series! I loved this book. Griff and Miranda stole my heart. The love they have for each other, their daughter and their extended military family. It is a page turner! I couldn’t put it down. A must read. Are the strong enough to face the demons from her past? Get your copy to find out! I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance copy of the book. I can not wait for more from the fantastic author!
I really enjoyed this expanded version of Miranda and Griffin’s story. Their story was originally part of kindle worlds so it was short and sweet but Ms. O’Leary does an excellent job of pulling it out of that world and adding to the story. I usually don’t care for flashbacks but Ms. O’Leary handles them in such a way as they do not take me out of the here and now of Miranda and Griffin’s love.
Miranda is holding onto secrets and Griffin knows it. But can he convince her that he will always be there for her and their daughter? I love that Ms. O’Leary showed us that marriage isn’t easy and love doesn’t resolve all issues. Miranda hasn’t let go oh her need to handle everything herself. She is determined to handle her past even as it begins to affect her relationship with Griffin. I love that even as she tries to divert her seal’s attention he isn’t going to let her hide. e is willing to wait her out even as it hurts his soul. I love that Miranda has a bit more to learn about herself and her relationship with Griffin. And Griffin has to show a piece of himself that he also has hidden from his wife. But when they peel back their secrets will their marriage survive?
This story by Ms. O’Leary is well written and enjoyable. She gives us unexpected twists and turns. I loved returning to this world and seeing Miranda and Griffin grow as individuals and as a couple.
Reading other reviews, I see that apparently this book continues the storyline from Protecting Hope, which I have not read. At first, I was a little lost as it felt like there was an assumption that I should know the characters and previous story. After a few chapters, I was able to figure things out and was intrigued with Miranda and Griff’s story. They have a sweet, yet passionate relationship. It started off with a tragic event which threw them together quickly as we learn through flashbacks. After 3 years of marriage and a baby girl, they have some things to reveal to one another and let all of the skeletons out of the closet. Add to that, a creep of a dad wants back into Miranda’s life, but for all of the wrong reasons. Of course, the SEAL characters from previous books make an appearance and are on hand to assist Griff and Miranda fight off the bad guys. Overall, a great story.
This book set in the present takes us back in flash backs to 3 years ago. The train crash that changed their lives. If you read Protecting Hope, you’ll love this extended version.
There is a mystery happening in the here and now, is it a threat to their lives? There were so many heart stopping moments, not only in the flash backs but in the present time.
This was an emotional read and I couldn’t put it down.
Once again Caitlyn O’Leary doesn’t disappoint. Miranda and Griff heat up the pages of the book. The book was action packed, and I loved it. Would certainly recommend me it to all my friends
Quick and wonderful read. When I started I couldn’t put it down. Loved the storyline, characters. Griffin and Miranda are great. Thank you for another amazing book.
Super Touching and Emotional!!
Griff met Miranda riding a train when his truck was in for repairs…. For weeks afterward he continued to ride the train in an effort to get to know her. During that time there was a very serious train derailment. This was all three years ago, and while they are married and have a young child – they are still impacted by those events.
As a type of therapy Griff asks Miranda to not just recount events as she remembers them, but the emotions attached to them. Miranda requires Griff return the favor. “I love you, even if you are irrational. Tonight’s our night for truth-telling. The good, the bad and the ugly”
Brilliant character and event reveals. We know these two have a happily ever after, but will the nightmares end??
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
You see where they are today, and visit the past to see why and how. This is a fast paced read that grabs you from the first page to the last. Romance, intrigue, true love and plenty of heat. Definitely one to read
