Fiona has really outdone herself this time. This one has everything, romance, betrayal, anger, regrets. The story of Lucas and Ella made my heart pound really fast!
I liked a young woman trying not to leave a bad situation and having some knowledge to be able to make a living. I also liked the way the main characters came together and having additional characters added to give her family and love. I felt the death of the villain came too quickly and didn’t make sense. He was a soldier training his men to go to Scotland and suddenly he shows up in a completely different context. Overall a good story with lots of great characters.
Once again Fiona Faris has provided a beautifully written book! I loved the Scottish brogue but, that what makes a Scottish Romance. The story kept me turning the pages to see what would happen next. I read this as an ARC book and I am very glad I did. Can’t wait to read about Millie!
Liked the story line.
Another great Fiona Farris story, l have read a number of books by Fiona and have never had a disappointed yet. Just keep them coming thanks!
Loved this book,it kept me tied to my kindle till the last page was finished!
Loved this book. Women in England were at their father’s mercy. Wading this book has made me want to learn more about Scottish history and to visit Scotland.
Loved this book and the strength of the heroine. Just starting the next book in the series and can’t wait to find out what happens
Enjoyable story, but issues with editing. Multiple times different tenses were used in the same sentence.
I was disappointed in this story. I am so tried of reading about characters hoping in bed at the beginning of the story, They were suppose to be running for their lives, but they had time to stop and have sex. I didn’t finish this story, and will be reluctant to read more from this author.
An excellent read!
Wonderful characters, fast moving an easy read.
Enjoyable plot with rich setting
Good strong characters
The story line had promise, but the writing was terrible. Awful grammar. Misplaced periods in the middle of what should have been a continuing sentence. Tense and perspective changes in the same paragraph. Very distracting, and made the book incredibly hard to read. 2 stars for a promising idea.
Just loved it
Although, I liked the two main characters in this book, I wanted her to be smarter and stronger. I also, wanted the story to be more compelling and engaging. For me, this book lacked all of these things.
I feel like I read this type of book before….
SETTING: Interesting plot, with a lot of sexual tension between the H and h. Ella’s father “loses” her in gambling to a vicious English Commander. When he realizes Ella contemplates running away, the heartless father says he will just give the Commander Amelia her baby sister if Ella runs away. What a dilemma! You can’t wait to read if Ella will escape Commandeer Evan’s evil clutches without endangering her sister? If she runs away, will she bring disaster down on those giving her refuge as well as her sister? Even the servant sent with her to take her to Commander Evans is heartless in his dealings with Ella, intent on fulfilling his master’s wishes to prevent any escape en route. Ella can just not draw a lucky break! Who can she turn to for aid in escaping her fate with Commander Evans?
CRITIQUE: This is a highland romance with more steam than most-let the reader be aware. The story does capture interest, and I found it hard to put down after chapter 1. The ending is a twist on what I had expected, after a rather predictable journey. I enjoyed the extended epilogue, and can’t wait to read the next story in the series. 3.5 Stars.
This story is well-written, and the characters well developed. The fear that Ella has for man her father has given her to has her fleeing for her life. The highland warrior a couple have hidden becomes Ella’s patient because of her healer knowledge. When he learns she fled her arranged marriage to his sworn enemy; Lucas take her into his protection. I loved the chemistry between Ella and Lucas.
