During Flynn Bensen’s last wildfire rescue, a woman died despite Flynn’s best efforts to save her. He can’t escape his sense of failure or recurring nightmares, but he can escape to Marietta, Montana, to a new job as the head of Crawford County Search and Rescue. When he meets his scorching hot co-worker on his first day, Flynn feels like he might have just jumped from one wild fire to another … another that threatens to burn out of control despite his determination to keep a safe distance.
Outspoken, direct, and ambitious Kat Robinson isn’t thrilled to have a new boss—after all, if the timing had been different, she’d have been a shoe-in for Flynn’s job. But a single mom of a ten-year-old son knows where her priorities lay—with Brady, the light of her life. No way is she looking for a relationship and co-workers are always off limits. Too bad Flynn’s so darn hot, gorgeous, kind and authentic.
Will Flynn be the hero Kat needs to help her find the courage to fall in love again?

I love these characters! Debra Salonen does a wonderful job of making you care about her characters. Flynn needs a fresh-start, and although Kat doesn’t know it, she needs a hero like Flynn––even if co-workers are off-limits.
Debra Salonen continues to tackle life’s issues, with wit and humor, no sugar-coating needed. A great start to this Montana Mavericks spin off series, Love, Montana.
Very enjoyable. Couldn’t put it down.
Great story but tragic also. Your heart went out to Flynn and you felt bad for Kat but glad she woke up. Flynn is one of those amazing guys we would all love to have be in love with us!! Lots of twists and turns your not expecting but a standalone with a HEA!!!!
Mother and son move to Montana. Met a fire jumper who was trying to overcome a tragic death he thought was his fault. Surprises and heartache brought them together for lifetime.
I enjoy stories that provide indirect education (in this case regarding Alzheimer’s and the struggles families face). Combine that with one of my favorite areas of the country and I was pumped! Thoroughly enjoyed the character development and the story line!
A nice read.
Lovely story that gives you a glimpse into Alzheimers and Aspergers. Wonderful characters and easy to read story with some action and a great small town community feel.
This book was like coming home since so many of Salonen’s characters cross over. This story moved so quickly with lots of personal twists and turns. Katherine, Flynn and Brady were warm and interesting and I expected to see them again.
I very much enjoyed this book.
Good story line, well written, and good characters. A little too steamy for me but the story was really good.
I love all Debra’s books, wish I could afford more of them.
I am always looking for new characters to follow. I think this family had a lot of ways to journey into another book. However this ended and didn’t leave you hanging.
This was a great book that I couldnt put down!
Moving to Montana
Flynn needed a new start, the nightmares kept coming, his brother sent him a link for a job with the SAR in Marietta where he is living. His friends from the Hot Shot team where going to join him in different ways. Kat and her son Brady moved to Marietta after her mom died, she said she was happiest there. But in part Kat found out her dad was from there. When Flynn starts, Kat impresses him and her son Brady is a good kid. They have to see where it goes.
Not bad too many tie ins to other books. Its basic. I watched the same convention on the Rookie. There was way too much tell and not enough show. And apparently SAR is boring most of the time.
Sweet story.
Good characters but little more than bedroom scenes
It was okay.
Ended halfway through the story
i love the Big Sky series and was so happy to continue on with this book. What i really loved was the fact that our author gave us a book that was different than the other books in the series. It was unique to itself and heartwarming as well. We have romance and life touching with a cute kid too.
