I’ve read every book in this series and loved them all but I must say this was something special. Emily has been a small part of this series until this point but finally came into her own and I, for one, found this to be so important going forward. I’m looking forward to Emily following her interests and becoming a stronger part of Jack’s life and maybe the twins becoming less bratty because I’m getting tired of the lack of discipline in their home life.
An amazing story ! This story is about finding out if Jack’s adopted daughter Emily has any relatives in the Bahamas or anyone there that may have information on the Rojas family. Jack was on leave since his last case was over. Now was the perfect time to go to the Bahamas. But of course the story has a lot of other little tid bits in there to keep you on the edge of your seat. No spoilers here. I enjoyed reading every word and I think you will also. I read this book as an arc program.
This review is for the audio book.
I enjoyed this book. It is slightly different to the rest of the books in the series in the fact that all of Jack’s children have taken a step back and for this part of the story it is just him and his adopted daughter Emily. Not that Emily doesn’t have her own problems, anorexia being the biggest. I really liked this instalment because through the whole series the author has touched on how bad it was getting but In this book we see Jack tackling it head on. The mystery was good and like normal you jump around in time and with character, so that you get the background story of why the killings occurred. I have to say I think I like this book the best so far mainly because I like Emily and I want to see things work out for her.
Jack has finally made the promise happen, he is taking his adopted daughter home to find out if she has any living relatives in the Bahamas. At first they get the run around with no one knowing the name, until a lady hands Jack a newspaper. In the article a lady with the same last name has just been sent to prison for the murder of an American girl. This trip was a way for Jack to bond with his daughter and In the hopes of finding out about her roots it will help her come back to him and want to live or at the least start eating. Instead it drags them into a murder investigation that has them learning secrets about each other. The murder her aunty has been arrested and confessed to isn’t the first one like it on the island. Several American girl have gone missing and turned up dead, with there tongues cut out and a word tattooed on there backs. Jack despite not having a badge starts to investigate and with his daughters help they hope to free her aunt and rescue the latest missing girl. And Jack hopes in the process to help his own.
I liked the narrator and thought he did a good job, even did a few accents
Besides wonderful characters I would add severely twisted characters.
I figured out who the sicko was early on and I kept reading because I wanted to see how the story would play out.
There were several twists that I did not see coming.
Want to read more from this author and series
As I’ve come to expect from this author, a very unpredictable, twisted tale.
It was quite hard to put down and rather twisty!
I did not care for this book.
Good read, exciting, suspenseful
Gruesome
Willow Rose never disappoints!!
i like all of this authors books.
The author integrates real family issues with an O’Henry surprise ending. The shifting time frames are back and forth which I tired of but nonetheless enjoyed the book.
I didn’t care for it. Amateurish.
It is a good read, if you don’t mind a little creepiness in the story. The end surprised me.
Not at all my style of book. Very negative and disheartening!
Great suspense book. I love all the Willow books.
This is hard to put down.
Too violent and sick for me. Too long. Back and forth by years. Sad story about illegals.
I had this figured out but I didn’t. Very good
Willow Rose fan–have read many of her books, which are entertaining and fun.
