I love this time of year and all the wonderful holiday stories that come with it. Jennifer Faye did not disappoint with Her Festive Baby Bombshell. There is a wonderful story here that I won’t recap for you as I would never do it justice, but I will tell you what I loved about it. It is about Holly and Finn, both strong characters, even if they themselves do not know it yet. For me, there was just the right amount of angst but not TOO much so that it would drag down the pace of the story. For me, Holly and Finn really clicked. Both had to work through past hurts in order to grow as individuals and as a couple. Yes, they do get their HEA! What I really liked was that Finn was an alpha but he wasn’t obnoxious about it. Ms. Faye wrote the character with much heart and soul. Don’t want to leave Holly out – she, too, had to learn to be vulnerable and it really helped her character grow. And the twins…there is nothing I can say that will help me explain how much I loved this part of the story. Every time I think about the twins, I get a goofy smile on my face. Another great read from Ms. Faye and I highly recommend.
Holly never expected Finn Lockwood, CEO of the company she worked for, to invite her to have dinner with him. But he did and she went. One thing lead to another and they spent the night together. That wasn’t a good idea. They agreed to never let it happen again and to stay away from each other. That was easy enough to do since Holly worked in the legal department where she seldom saw Finn anyway. But when Finn’s personal assistant got engaged and eloped, Holly filled in for her. It was awkward for them to have to work together, but they managed. That was until Finn had a top secret business meeting on his yacht a couple of months later. Of course, as his PA Holly accompanied Finn. But she was often sick on the boat. Believing it was seasickness, she was shocked when she saw a doctor at home, to find out she was pregnant!
Even being ill, Holly was a huge help with Finn’s Project Santa charity project, both on the ship and in the office. Holly was very bright and helpful. I liked how she spoke up at the meetings, sharing her ideas. I didn’t care for Finn with his “poor me” attitude. There were several reasons for this. Some of them were – He was not supposed to be CEO, his brother was. But when he died, Finn got the job by default. Finn had taken a back seat to his brother as a child. His parents spent their time with the sick boy, almost forgetting about Finn. He also thinks it was his fault his parents died in a car crash. I can understand how a child would think it was his fault. But as an adult, he should have gotten over it.
I liked this billionaire romance, but I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. But I did like the epilogue and HEA.
