Jackson is going home for his brother’s wedding. Unfortunately, this means that he will most likely have to face Isabel, the one who holds his heart. However, her father told Jackson years ago that he would never give his blessing for Jackson and Isabel to get married. Jackson has since been trying to prove his worth to the world.
Isabel’s life is a mess. Her father is all that she has left in her life, barely. Her mother died when she was in high school. Her first love abandoned her after high school. Her fiancé, is more a part of her life in wishes than reality, because he would rather travel than be around her. Even her dad is slipping away as Alzheimer’s steals his mind.
If actions speak louder than words, Jackson is screaming his feelings for Isabel by helping her. However, words fail when there is so much water under the bridge.
If many hands make light work, it may take a lot of help to fix the problems in each of their lives.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
This was a good story. There were some poignant moments when I teared up and over all I did enjoy this but the main problem that I have with it is the reason Jackson left. After Isabel’s father refused to give his permission for them to marry, he just runs off? He doesn’t talk with Isabel? Then he is hurt and has mixed feeling about returning home for his brother’s wedding because he may run into Isabel? I mean really, he was the one who abandoned Isabel not the other way around. It just made him seem weak in my eyes. Also there was a lot of staring at the floor through out the book.
The rest of the story though was good. I enjoyed reading Isabel’s side and what she has been struggling through for the last eight years. She is engaged to Bobby and wants to move her dad back home. Bobby on the other hand wants to travel the world. Will they marry to please her father and have grand-babies before Alzheimer completely takes him away from Isabel?
There was another issue that really wasn’t answered either. Jackson lives in New York and has a successful career. Isabel wants to stay in Honey Grove. I hope to get some answers in the next book.
I did enjoy seeing prior characters making appearance here especially Sondra Braxton, the boys’ mother. The story was also written in my favorite dual POV. While I didn’t really connect with Jackson, like I did with the prior stories, doesn’t mean that I didn’t enjoy the story. The internal struggle that these two faced and overcame was a good one.
This was a sweet, clean second chance romance. I would recommend this to anyone. Just because I was left with some issues doesn’t mean that other younger readers would enjoy it.
Wonderful .
I really enjoyed reading this story . It’s a heartwarming romance .
Jackson Braxton arrives home for his brothers wedding dreading running into the only woman he ever loved Isabel Andrews . He left Honey Grove after her father told him he wasn’t good enough to marry Isabel .
Some years later Jackson has made
something of himself . He finds Isabel ingaged but struggling with her life and her feelings . Soon she has decisions to make . This story is well written and beautiful . I recommend reading this story and enjoying .
A good, clean continuation of the Braxton Brothers series. I enjoyed reading it. I can’t wait for Jenna and Dean’s story.
I’m hooked on this series and have read every book in it so far. I have been waiting for this one and I was pleased to find it was well worth the wait. I’d even go as far as to say it’s my favorite in the Braxton Bros series, although I feel that way each time Meyers releases a new book in this series! Jackson Braxton is one hot book boyfriend, and I love a good second chance romance. This one did not disappoint!
Her Ex is an emotional, angst filled, clean, small town, second chance romance. Every time I thought Isabel might dump Bobby and get back together with Jackson, some other obstacle would rear its head. This book works well as a stand alone, but I have read the other three. Jackson is the last of the four brothers. Thank goodness they have a sister so there will be at least one more book! If you like small town, second chance, clean romances, you will not want to miss this book!
This book was so enjoyable to read.
Isobel is engaged but her first love has showed up in town for a family wedding. The feelings are still there for Isobel and she’s trying hard to ignore them.
Jackson left town to make something of himself after Isobel’s father said he wasn’t good enough for Isobel. He still loves Isobel, but isn’t sure if she felt the same way as her father.
A lot of emotion in this book, and I love the way the Braxton family jumps in to help Isobel.
