Trouble lives next door… and he’s too darn cute for her own good. After a stint in the military, Pamela Miller is content with her IT job and her quiet calm life, until she inherits a ranch in Harland County, Texas, along with all the livestock and surprises that come with it—including a mischievous goat with a penchant for swallowing the most embarrassing things. Unsure whether to sell or stay, … or stay, she decides to “live in Aunt Nellie’s boots” for a while, and that decision has nothing to do with her encounters with the super-hot veterinarian who owns the ranch next door.
Animals were Dr. Sawyer Kirkland’s salvation during his troubled teens and their care and welfare is now his number one priority. He’s too busy, too committed to his work to worry about love and marriage. Been there. Done that. No thanks. He has a dog for companionship and doesn’t need a woman, but each time his sexy new neighbor walks into his clinic with an animal in need, he feels the wall he built around his heart start to crack.
As Sawyer and Pam deal with X-rays, alpacas, twin kitten terrors, and a mischievous goat, realizing killer chemistry isn’t the only thing they have in common has Sawyer rethinking his priorities.

I swear there is something in the water in Harland county that makes the men strong, sexy and enduring. Sawyers attention to the animals made me love him even more.
This books is hot amped the love story totally believable. Just regular people.
I have come to love how Donna Michaels writes about the quirky animals in her books too. It makes me smile and giggle. This books has a miniature goat that steals the show.
You have to read the entire series. They are on the top of my nooks to reread list.
I have read every book in the Harland County series and have loved each and every one. Her Doggone Cowboy is a great addition to the series and is the story of the town vet, Dr. Sawyer Kirkland and Pam Miller who has inherited her Aunt Nellie’s ranch in Harland County, along with all of her animals. This is a quick and easy read with a handsome vet who loves his job and has no time for romance until sweet, kindhearted Pam walks into his office.
I highly recommend this book and this series, it is just fantastic. Romance, passion, fun, friends and just enough angst to keep it interesting. I guarantee the animals in this one will make you laugh, and at the same time touch your heart. Nelson is the best!!
The author is going to release one more book in this series, called “Harland County Series Epilogue” and then comes the new spinoff series “Harland County Heroes” and I cannot wait!!
Five dimpled stars for this one, love Harland County!!
Very entertaining
Part of a series, Her Doggone Cowboy is a standalone read with a HEA. A bit steamy in parts. Sawyer is the local vet, he has it all going on and the ladies love him. He is not interested. He divorced his cheating wife and he is off women. He has his practice, which he loves, and he really doesn’t need a woman in his life.
Pam is a city girl that inherited her aunt’s ranch and all the animals that she had accumulated. She has no idea how to care for them so she is constantly running to the clinic with one problem after another. Most involve her goat Nelson. There is an attraction between the two but they won’t act on it because they don’t want to start something. However….
This is their story. It is funny and entertaining as well as romantic and serious in a few parts. The trip to their HEA is a fun one and I really enjoyed it. I definitely recommend the story. There are no bad guys, no crazy exes, violence, etc. Just the story of two people finding their way and discovering what is truly important in this lifetime.
I was not paid for my review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 8/13/18
Oh my goodness!!! What a Doggone cute story! Sometimes I need a simple, sweet story. I need to read something that isn’t oversexed because that just seems to be the thing to do nowadays.
This story hit the spot right in my heart. It gave me hope that although a person’s heart has been crushed that the right person can re-inflate it.
Pam was living in Harland County to regroup after a trying to make a relationship work for five years. Didn’t anyone tell her you shouldn’t have to try? She had inherited her aunt’s home and all the animals that she loved. Those animals brought her into close contact with her neighbor, Sawyer, the area vet.
Sawyer is a little, okay a lot, gun shy after being cheated on by his wife. His reward for fidelity–he almost lost everything. Needless to say he isn’t the most trusting male in Harland County. Speaking of which have you read the rest of the books? Oh my great romances, wonderful journeys of self-discovery. I highly recommend them.
They are a match made for Harland County, a country that frequently suffers from the “dick for brains” syndrome. Sawyer jumped to a conclusion. He reacted badly. He almost lost everything. Thankfully there are those that had been there, done that, and bought him a t-shirt.
This is definitely the book I needed today. And now I want to read the series all over again. Why don’t you check them out?
“Her Doggone Cowboy” (Harland County Series Book 11) by Donna Michaels is a fantastic read. I loved Sawyer and Pam’s story. Nelson is a trip! This is a wonderful addition to the Harland County Series, packed with romance, passion, hot cowboys, entertaining characters and animals, close friends and families, humor, and more. I loved catching up with everyone in Harland County. I can’t wait to read Mac’s story in the new spin-off series. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, hot cowboys, family, and series.
Loved this story. I know trust is important in a good relationship and hard to have after your cheated on. With the help of your friends you can build trust with your rated mate.
Whether you have read the entire series, or like me, this is the first book you read, I promise you that you’ll enjoy this story.
Pamela/Pam Miller has inherited her aunt’s dilapidated ranch and her pets. So she leaves her IT job and Dallas, move to Harland in order to take care of both. Her crazy and sweet animals seem to always be getting into mischief and she ends up going frequently to the veterinarian, Sawyer Kirkland. He is also her neighbor and though sparks seem to radiate from both whenever they are together, Pam and Sawyer have been burned by love and neither wants to get involved.
But destiny has something else in store for them.
This is a sweet, entertaining story with interesting characters. It’s a story about trust, family, taking chances and maybe finding true love if you take the risk. Will they take that risk or will distrust and fear hold them up?
I voluntarily read this copy. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
