I love. Mysteries and this was a very good
It was an interesting storyline and I kept reading till the end. There were so many mysterious things happening. But the relationship of Cate and the detective was unreal, especially the first act that started it. The book needs a good editor. There are extra words here and there, punctuation errors, etc. I hope the next in the series is better. I’ll give it another try.
This book has a potentially good story line however, the writing seems amateur and not fully edited. There were several places in the book where things just didn’t feel fully explained while other things were over explained. I think the author risks losing a lot of readers because of some controversial pieces (i.e. loving wife takes a new lover a week after his death, or MIL mysteriously hates DIL for no apparent reason, or friend makes a call to the police about her conversation with Pal but never brings it up again) but she probably bought some readers with the constant reality TV level drama show going on the entire time.
But really, I’m gonna need to know exactly why the MIL hated her so much and why she would destroy her grandkids house like that? I mean, even if my MIL hated me I’d think she’d respect the grieving kids. Not to mention, why isn’t she grieving her son?? I have no idea why, but this aspect of the whole saga is what bothered me the most haha.
An interesting start of a new series. The plot has action, suspense, deceit, love, friendship and family drama – all of which are beautifully described and put together by Kelly Utt. I did enjoy reading this book and I´m looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
I was only able to get to the end of the 13th chapter before giving up on this horrible book. The writing was juvenile, right away there were tons of typos & punctuation errors, etc. But the final straw was when the main character, after her husband dies in an accident, whom the author stresses that she loved so much, falls into bed with the detective shortly after the husband’s death. Ridiculous!
Wish I could have given this at least a 3 star but it didn’t hit the mark on anything past her initial shock at the news of her husbands death. Within 2 days she is making eyes at another man, and it just went downhill after that.
I loved that it was short, and that it was straight to the point of suspense. It truly was a page turner.
Well written and enjoyable – almost predictable then NOT! Good story line and brings out feelings for the characters.
Good story. Kept my attention throughout the book. Looked forward to continue reading each day.
This is a wonderful book. I felt so many emotions reading this book: sadness, sorrow, anger. Only thing I didn’t like about the book was Cate fell immediately in lust and slept with another man within days of her husband dying. The overall story was a joy to read.
There wasn’t much to love here; I’m not sure why I continued reading to the bitter end— it made me feel like an ambulance chaser! The characters were unlikable, their choices were idiotic, and the plot ran all over the place in what seemed to be a deliberate method to throw the reader off, but in the end turned out to be simply bad writing. Don’t even get me started on the lack of spelling savvy and editing. I can give it to you in two words from the text: “water spicket.”
Very good read .Emotion in every page.
I enjoyed this book from the beginning.
It has a lot of inaction and made you think often to what came next.
I recommend it highly .
Nothing there at the beginning to grab your attention and make you want to continue reading. I gave it about 25 pages more than I should have before I gave up.
This book was not bad. I just did not like the ending that much.
FANTASTIC READ
I thoroughly enjoyed this book – held my attention at every turn of the page.
Very disappointing. Characters not compelling. Ending was the worst part of whole book. Not realistic at all.
Loved it. Can’t wait for the rest. Good character building, suspenseful. Makes you want more.
I already know I love this author, as I have read her stories and have enjoyed every one of them. This is a new series and one that has captured my interest immediately and I cannot wait for the next book to see what else will happen!
