I have found my new great author! This story kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t put it down. I am an avid reader so putting down books to do my ( life ) is normal for me, but I couldn’t do it with this one. I had to find out what was happening all the way to the end. There was action to the last page! I loved it !!!

Her Darkest Hour – a review by Rosemary Kenny
Bipolar Eve Blackburn has a devoted family background, but prior to her diagnosis and treatment/therapy, she had troubling behavioural episodes, that in the past had led to her erratic behaviour seeking to self-harm, once even to the point of attempted suicide, in the eponymous event.
Eve’s family are happy when she meets and weds Tim Fischer, knowing that their brother-in-law loves and cares for their daughter/sister, deeply despite her mental issues and will look after Eve, helping her whenever she needs him to.
What changes when the couple go on holiday?
Who is Saul? What happens to Wilder?
How does Minerva Ellery help find Eve?
A salutary tale along the lines of Gone Girl and similar stories/film adaptations, Kelly Utt’s Her Darkest Hour, sensitively covers the topic of living with a mental illness, especially (as in this case), an incurable, life-long, undiagnosed until adulthood one. Exploring the effects on the sufferer, their family, social and relationship difficulties and husband and future children, it’s so complete and relatable, (particularly to me) you’re almost present in the minds of both Eve and every other main character throughout – it’s that well-written.
Highly recommended to those affected either directly or indirectly by bipolar, or any other mental illness, get your copy soon – and keep a box of tissues handy as you read!
I couldn’t get into this book. It was too much like so many other books. Not original enough.
Very interesting story built around an extreme case of a common disorder many families are dealing with. Worth the time to read.
If zero stars were an option that’s what this book would get. Don’t waste your time. The only reason I finished it was because it was so short. It’s terrible in every way.
I felt that the story was very rushed, in the end, in an attempt to tie up loose ends and finalize the story.
Loved how a family take care of their own regardless of the outcome.
I liked this book. Was sad this is a story about a family who is very close and how they handled tragedy loss of life and mental illness good book
It was like reading a really bad soap opera. I couldn’t make it through the first few chapters. Sophomoric writing and unbelievable characters
It was not my type of book. The characters were portrayed as thinking collectively and were not developed individually. Mental illness was depicted by the mother as a defective child which was insulting.
I would not have ordered it if I had known homosexuals were in the cast of characters. I just have a problem with that. Even if that had been omitted, it would have still been a three star read. Presented bi-polar disease in a very negative light but may have been true to life, as I have had no experience with it.
Junk. Just awful. Not believable, poor grammar.
This was a frightening book because the main character is bipolar. Gives great insight into the mind of such a person.
Xxxxxx
I couldnt even finish this book. The main character makes some unexplainable stupid choices right in the beginning when she could just use a phone and the story would be over.
Mystery. Couldn’t wait to see outcome. I found it sad.
I really did not like this book
Horrible. I deleted it from my kindle after just a few chapters
