Enjoy these oldies but goodies from Amazon best selling author, Joannie Kay writing as Laurel Joseph. For your reading pleasure, we’ve put together three stories of feisty women in the old west and the men who love them. We’re certain you’ll love reading all about how these couples fall in love and work out their relationships with some old fashioned discipline!
The Naughty Schoolmarm: The new … Naughty Schoolmarm: The new schoolteacher in Cartersville is hiding a big secret. She has run away from home, after her father and ten brothers tried to choose a husband for her. She knows it is only a matter of time before they find her, although they may not recognize their sister in a dress! Can she convince them that she means to stay in her new town and marry her handsome, single father, rancher? Tanner’s first wife was also a red-head and he knows just how to handle his naughty schoolteacher!
The Reluctant Bridesmaid: George Connally hires a detective to bring home his daughter, after she refuses to participate in her younger sister’s wedding. Sarah Jean has been driven from her home on the family ranch by her sister Susie’s constant efforts to torment her. She’s started a new life and is supporting herself without any help. She sees no reason to come home to suffer her sister’s manipulations, which their doting father doesn’t recognize. Former marshal turned detective, Daniel, has his hands full trying to walk the line, getting Sarah Jean home without resorting to kidnapping and then making sure she’s not subjected to sisterly abuse. Meanwhile, Susie’s fiancé, Cal has had his eyes opened about her expectations for their wedded life, and he needs to make sure she understands that he’s not going to be the biddable husband she assumes.
Upholding the Law: Mackenzie is shocked to discover a group of her neighbors about to hang a man on her ranch. She quickly puts a stop to the lynching, and has her ranch hands escort the men off her property, while she offers first aid to the badly beaten victim. She discovers hidden documents that show he is a marshal, undercover to investigate and put a stop to the rustling that has plagued the area. She takes him home in order to protect him from the vigilantes while he recovers from his injuries. JC was barely conscious when Mac’s shot severed the rope just in time to save his life, but even then, he thought she needed a trip over her man’s knee. What was the tiny woman thinking to take on a group of men intent on murder! Later, as he watches the young widow face down the leaders of the lynch gang and the crooked sheriff when they come to arrest him as a horse thief, JC starts to lose his heart to the spirited red-head. But he knows he’s going to have his hands full; Mackenzie intends to trail behind JC and keep him safe, as he finds the rustlers and puts a stop to their crimes. Will the marshal make it clear that his word is law when Mac is used to running her ranch?

This is a collection of three steamy romance stories set in the wild west.
Usually when I read a collection there is a definite favorite, but not in this case. I found all three stories to be well written and highly enjoyable. We get three different couples in three different situations, but all of them feature a strong willed heroine and a hero that takes her in hand. I had a lot of fun with these books and look forward to more from this author.
Highly recommended

This is not my usual genre but thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed. This is a great collection. Each story is well written with well developed characters. My interest was held throughout and I would recommend reading.

AMAZING! A fantastic, well written read. An intense storyline that holds your attention as you get caught up in the fierce twists and hot chemistry. Plenty of excitement and emotionally heartfelt. A thrilling must read.
Combination of Cowboys who are big on discipline. These stories were new to me but were really good. The cowboys were protective of there heroines. Short stories that can be read eating lunch, dinner or just unwinding from the day. Enjoyed each story. Give it a try if you’re into alpha’s who love their women with a firm hand and lots of love. These are three older stories, being released as a set, but they’re all new to me, as is this author. All stories are well-written, and set in the old West, with strong-willed women and stronger men.
The Naughty Schoolmarm – Nettie runs away from home, away from her father and brothers who are trying to marry her off. But when she meets Tanner, the father of one of her students, she’s met her match. This was my least favorite – there seemed to be too much going on in this story.
The Reluctant Bridesmaid – Sarah Jean refuses to go home for her sister’s wedding, so her father hires a detective to find her. Dan is a former marshal, a real no-nonsense guy, and he doesn’t hesitate to make his feelings known to Sarah Jean. Susie has been pulling the wool over their father’s eyes for years, and her fiance, Cal, is going to make sure she knows that her actions will be unacceptable when he’s her husband.
Upholding the Law – MacKenzie rescues a man who’s nearly lynched on her property, and he’s not the horse thief that he’s accused of being. They become close as she nurses him back to health. Since her husband’s death, she is used to being in charge of her ranch, and he quickly realizes that he’s going to have his hands full with her. This is my favorite story of the book.

This is a 3 book compilation from Joannie Kay, writing as Laurel Joseph, so check that you haven’t already read these before purchase. Set in the time of the Western frontier, these make a nice, gentle way to pass some time. These stories are clean, so look elsewhere for sexy times, and the writing is quite simplistic, which, for me, adds to their charm.
Welcome to the old west, where men were alpha males and women were…obedient? These three books really laid it out like it was back in the old days. Men ruled their households with a firm hand. Each woman in these books was strong and sassy, until her man took her in hand. All told, I really enjoyed reading these stories and would not hesitate to read more like them.
