A cowboy returning to his hometown—and the best friend he left a dozen years before. She’s divorced with a child now…can they build a family and find their happily-ever-after?Graham Whittaker returns to Coral Canyon a few days after Christmas—after the death of his father. He’s just found out his long-time girlfriend in Seattle has been cheating on him, and while Coral Canyon isn’t his first … isn’t his first choice of where to live, it’s certainly the friendliest.
He takes over the energy company his dad built from the ground up and buys a high-end lodge to live in—only a mile from the home of his once-best friend, Laney McAllister. Laney returned to her family ranch after college, but her husband wasn’t cut out for the country lifestyle on the land at the base of the Grand Teton National Forest. He left Laney and their daughter, Bailey, to work the ranch themselves, which they’ve been trying to do.
But with her furnace on the brink of failure and the snow falling faster than ever, Laney agrees to bring Bailey up to Graham’s lodge for the holidays. They were best friends once, but Laney’s always entertained feelings for him, and spending so much time with him while they make Christmas memories puts her heart in danger of getting broken again. Can they take their friendship to the next level and build a family? Or will Laney be risking her heart only to remain in the friend zone?

The characters were developed enough that I did care about them. It was light and entertaining. It was a good escape book during the quarantine.
I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. This book written by Liz Isaacson has interesting plot and the characters are well developed and the problems they face are varied and add to the plot. Liz is a great story teller and this book is no exception.
Laney and Graham are so sweet together
I remember reading but nothing really stands out.
Enjoyed the book immensely!
It was simple and slow. The story line was not very interesting and had no real drama.
Really enjoyed this book. New characters and old are throughout the book and it makes for a very nice story. You get happy ever after with this author, it’s just the different journey to the end for each character that keeps me coming back. Looking forward to the books for the rest of this new family.
This book was ok. it was an entertaining beach type read.
A sweet romance with no steamy scenes, but a serious attraction with a few kisses.
I am giving this book three stars because it felt unfinished to me, or like I missed a few parts of the book.
Laney’s ex shows up. Graham has bad feelings about him. That situation was completely unresolved. Laney tells her mother they have been asked to spend Christmas at the Lodge. Laney and Bailey did. What happened to Mom? Graham and Laney end up with their HEA, and then it’s a year later.
It was ok. I think if the open issues had been resolved, and more details provided about the big day, it would have been more enjoyable.
I loved this book in this series more than the others. This is the one book from this series I will remember the most.
Both main characters had to overcome fears and negative expectations based on earlier relationships. I liked that the author didn’t go day by day. These are busy people who carried on, so they dealt with each other from time to time, but the undercurrent was there. It is a quick, easy read.
I really did not enjoy this book at all. These characters act like they’re fresh out of high school and yet in the book it says but they’re around 40 years old. The main two characters act very imature. The story line is choppy, and the book overall is boring.
It’s weird, on one hand I would say it’s the level of writing for a teenage girl, but then again these characters are middle age adults with adult themes going on with them…..divorce, talling about x-husband stuff, problems with running a ranch, etc.
It is a very mindless, cheesy read. I could not finish it. It just kept getting worse.
Great uplifting story , love the author
This was a very enjoyable book. The characters are true to life and draw you into the story. A great read for an afternoon of quarantine!! Thank you!!!
Man inherited a B&B when his father passes. Also has control of a mining program. His struggles with his faith and controlling his new life. Mets his old friend and their relationship. Great story
Laney’s desired to support herself and her daughter as a single mom kept her working on a ranch where she couldn’t keep up with all the work. Her unexpected encounter with her neighbor, Graham, quickly leads to a lot of changes in her life. Graham also learns a lot about himself through their interactions.
I really liked this into to the Whittaker’s series. The characters were wonderful and I loved the amount of time this book spanned. There were good lessons within about priorities and making the time for what’s important. I’m anxious to read the next book!
Sweet cowboy romance. Heartwarming and at times heart wrenching. Second chances, redemption, and love conquers all.
A beautiful well written clean best friends romance. This engaging storyline had me addicted page after page. This was a very good story about two people overcoming the things in their lives and finding love and happiness with supportive family, ups and downs, obstacles, issues from their past that made them a bit jaded, unannounced reappearance of ex, romance, snowstorm, old crush, and chemistry all while they overcome and find love and happiness. This author and narrator did an amazing job of bringing the characters and the story to life in bright living color. I voluntarily listened and reviewed this incredible story that is beautifully narrated engaging my imagination.
This author mixes up her characters too often which is frustrating. I really struggled with my rating on that account but ultimately I enjoyed the story so …
