The same Christmas wish has haunted Emily Nicholls for years — to have a family of her own. But six years of marriage resulted in no children, and the widowed Emily now cares for others as a governess. She loves her work, and it allows her to care for her parents who can no longer support themselves. But it does not quite fill the hole in her heart.Lord Charles Blythe, Earl of Doverton, … Doverton, absolutely must produce an heir to prevent his loathsome cousin or the man’s obnoxious son from inheriting. Since the death of his wife, however, Charles has no desire to wed any of the young, empty-headed women that society thrusts at him.
When Charles impulsively tells his cousin he is to marry, he chooses the first woman he sees in the crowd at a ball. Shocked to find out she’s a governess, he nevertheless convinces her to join his family for Christmas to participate in the charade. They must fight their attraction, however, for Charles needs a son, the one thing Emily knows she cannot give him.
Is there any chance for their Christmas wishes to come true?
For readers over 18 due to some steamy content.

What started out as a ruse turns into a HEA. Charles needs a pretend fiancé and Emily just happens by when he announced his engagement. He convinces her to go along with the ruse and he will pay her 100 pounds to help her family. As time goes by, they fall in love but for certain reasons they can not marry. This is a sweet love story that is a wonderful read and appropriate for any age group. I would recommend this book as a wonderful love story.
I love reading Ellie St Clair’s books because the characters are real life people with problems that one can understand. This lovely Christmas story is other great read.
Emily Nicholls has wanted the same thing most of her life a family of her own. After a six year marriage to a young man she grew up with and were friends. They married not because there was a great love between them but because neither had found anyone else. Horrid reason to wed.
Even after all that time she had no children, so now she a governess to other peoples children and she loves her job.
Lord Charles Blythe, Earl of Doverton needs a heir. He must find a women he can like and get along well enough to wed her and hope for a son so his rotten cousin and his even worst son does not inherit all. He has little hope of pulling this off as the young ladies who are looking to marry are
silly, loud and he wants nothing to do with them. He has had a love-less marriage to an evil women who keep his daughter from him. Now they are like strangers.
When he allows his cousin, Edward to push him into saying he has a bride to be he grabs the first women he sees and says she is his soon-to -be-bride!
Poor Emily she has no idea that her life will be changed forever and neither did Charles.
Charles talks Emily into the charade of pretending to be his bride for the Christmas time with his family and his daughter. Emily falls in love with Margaret almost at once and finds she is a very
sad and lonely little girl who thinks her father hates her. Her late mother has lied to her all her life.
Charles, Emily, and Margaret will soon learn what it really important and with some Christmas magic may just get their Happy Ever After.
Don’t miss this Great Christmas store, it will be one I read year after year..
I received and ARC from the author and would like to thank her.
I am giving my honest opinion.
This book “Her Christmas Wish” was a wish come true. It is about Emily who is a widow, a governess and who always wanted a family of her own and Charles who is an Earl, a widow, a father and who needs an heir, so his horrible uncle or cousin do not inherit. This book was a nice Christmas love story of when Charles and Emily meet and spend the holiday together. It was written so well you will fall in love with Emily, Charles and Margaret. I really enjoy Ellie St. Clair’s books.
