Her Christmas Rogue
Lady Winifred Grisham has been in love with her brother’s best friend Lord Trent Ballantine more years than she can remember. The only problem is, Trent is a notorious rogue who doesn’t dally with the respectable. Except, Winnie doesn’t want a dalliance–she wants his heart.
Born to a miserable family, Lord Trent has found joy and comfort in the folds of his best friend’s family. Except, over the years he’s begun to notice something. Winnie who he’d always seen as another sister, is in fact something more–a captivating woman. Now, loving Winnie as he does, Trent knows she deserves more than a rogue in her life. With Winnie’s mother rushing her off to try and make a match at Lady Weston’s annual Christmastide house party, Winnie has but a few days to show Trent, that all she needs is his love.

Her Christmas Rogue by Christi Caldwell is the story of Trent Ballantine and Winifred ‘Winnie’ Grisham. Trent is the second son of a Marquess but hasn’t had a good life being that so he has gravitated to his best friends house and family. Trent has always felt Winnie as a sister but now that she is older and has been showing more sides to him he is finding that his feelings are become more than brotherly. Winnie has always had a crush on Trent but he has seen her as no more than his friends sister. Now, Winnie’s mother has plans to find her a husband at the annual Christmastide house party given by Lady Weston. So Winnie feels she is in a time crunch to get him to notice her and claim her as his own. This was apart of book set called “A Very Matchmaker Christmas” which I had missed so I was happy that this book is on its own.
Loved this story. Ms. Caldwell knows how to write books that take you into the story and make you feel their story.
Lady Winifred Grisham and Lord Trent Ballantin will have a lot to overcome especially her overprotective brother James. James is Trent’s best friend and does not think he is good enough for his sister. I enjoyed reading this story. I read this copy through K.U. and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This is an unbiased review since I received the ARC and ordered the kindle copy.
As always Christi brings together two people that takes your heart. In this book, you meet Winifred who is the younger sister of Trent’s best friend. And Trent is the second son of a prestigious family that had made Trent’s life unbearable that he always spent the school holiday’s with his friend’s family.
As the years go Winnie tags along with her brother and Trent and falls in love in love with him, but what she doesn’t realize is that he fell in love with her too.
When Winnie is 20 she is set to earn Trent’s love and at the same time Trent decides to steer away from her so that she can find a better man to be her husband.
With her mother setting situations with another gentleman to get with her, Winnie tries hard to get Trent to spend time with her before he goes home for the holiday’s.
In true Christi fashion Winnie and Trent do have their HEA but getting there is a joy to read. And this is a wonderful Christmas story. Always looking forward to her books she always has written the most wonderful books and she will always be a favorite author of mine. Can’t wait to see if she write’s about Winnie’s brother…
My brother’s best friend. Winifred has adored Trent since she was a girl. Now she is a young marriageable lady. She has decided by Christmastide she would express her love for Trent and see where it goes. Winnie is an adorable character. She lives by her own rules. She is unconventional and Trent loves her for it. Trent is a second son and has spent his life living it up as a rake, a rogue. He comes from a home where there is not much affection and he yearns for a woman to love him for himself and not for the sexual gratification they seek. His best friend James is overprotective of Winnie and at first sees no danger of Trent and his sister. Finally, when Winnie and Trent declare themselves to each other, James catches them in a compromising situation. All heck breaks loose. Will James tear them apart? Will Winnie lose Trent because of his loyalty to James? Will Trent fight for what he wants even though he feels he does not deserve it? A sweet romance. This is a quick read and is a holiday treat. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Good story. Winnie finally decides that this is the year she will attract Trent’s attention and let him know her feelings. Trent has noticed her, but, she is his best friend’s little sister, and he has made a name as a rogue. Will his family accept him as a suitor? I received an ARC of this book.
Trent is a lucky man, but he doesn’t quite know it yet. His best friend’s sister is in love with him! This is a delightful story. Winnie is determined to show Trent she’s not a little girl any longer…and unknown to Winnie, Trent’s heart belongs to her. This story is so lovely, a sweet romance that you will fall in love with. Christi Caldwell knows romance!
A story of the heart as only Christi Caldwell with her wonderful prose can wrap around you in just the first page!
Filled with matchmaking mama’s, humor (I could only chuckle and laugh out loud at times!), a girlhood attraction that never wavered and a handsome hero who finally noticed she had grown up!
Winnie was at Almack’s in her first season comeout and tried to hide from her mother and brother who were looking for her. Stealing behind an alcove, none other than her older brother’s best friend, Trent Ballantine joined her to sneak her away to a hallway and dance her up and down as the music played. It was at that moment she realized two things… “Almack’s was really not that bad and two.. she was going to marry Lord Trent Ballentine!”
One of my very favorite storylines of attraction between a sister and her brother’s friend since school, I could only smile as the determined Winnie wants only for Trent to notice she has grown up and be as attracted to her as she is to him. When her mother throws a Christmas House party to find her a husband, she knows she has little time. Can these two come together and find love?
Have I said lately how much I love this author? Everything she writes is perfectly…. well Perfect!
A lovely holiday romance, it all begins with four very concerned mothers, each with an unmarried daughter and the London season coming fast upon them. The goal of each of these meddling matrons is to marry off their offspring to an appropriate man.
The Countess of Weston, mother of Lady Winifred Grisham, has a daughter who refuses to marry any of the suitors her parents put forth. She continues to hide behind potted plants at social events, and avoids men in general, but at home she is not the shy wallflower she portrays herself to be in public. She cares little of marrying for wealth or position, as is the norm in society. Winnie won’t marry anyone except the man of her dreams. Her mother suspects Winnie has her cap set on one particular gentleman and is keeping mum as to his identity.
Well, mothers DO have a way of knowing things.
Since childhood, Winnie has had strong feelings for her elder brother’s long time best friend, Trent Ballentine.
Trent is a younger son, not valued much by his own family, and a reputed rogue about town. He has spent his younger years in the household of Winifred’s family thanks to his friendship with her brother, and has been made to feel like a member of their family.
What Winnie doesn’t know is that her feelings are returned by Trent. Unfortunately, Trent is fearful of losing his best friend should he move forward, but he and Winnie are both more than merely enamored of each other, this is love. But as the Countess of Weston has said “ Anything can happen at Christmas “.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story of two people who initially hid their mutual attraction but who cared more for each other than for what society thought of their pairing. It is a tale filled with humor, romance, and emotion as a result of the author’s descriptive writing. It truly warmed my heart and I highly recommend it, as a gift to yourself or a friend who enjoys spending a few hours curled up reading toward a happily ever after.
This delightful novella, originally part of a regency collection, get a revamp. More has been added to the story, giving us more of the wonderful relationship between Winnie and Trent. Winnie has loved Trent since her brother brought his best friend home to stay for the holidays. Trent has always seen Winnie as his best friend, James’ little sister, until now. As always mayhem, comedy & drama ensue, ultimately they find love brought together by Christi’s mastery. After some heavier stories this is light relief that all will enjoy.

Another enthralling read from the author, Trent & Winnie are adorable each pining for each other & when they do express their feelings there’s big brother James there to throw a spanner in the works. The pages flew by as I needed to know how they achieved their HEA. This novella was first published several years ago but has been updated & new material added. As with all the authors books the secondary characters are also well portrayed & I hanker after their stories too.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Winnie and Trent were amazing! Watching the first kiss almost had me cheering and the epilogue was perfection. An amazing read by an amazing author! Thank you for the advanced copy, I do hope James gets his just desserts in his own story of falling in love!
Christi Caldwell’s writing style will make you fall in love with her characters! This book is about Trent who is a rogue and Winifred (Winnie) who has been in love with Trent who is her brothers’ best friend. Winnies mother is trying to marry her off, so Winnie decides she will try to get Trent to fall in love with her and she is going to tell him how much she loves him. I have a crush on Trent, who would not, he is charming, cares about his sisters, cares about his best friend, but most of all he has always cared about Winnie. And he blushes. I know you will enjoy this book as much as I have. Keep up the great writing Christi Caldwell.
A Wintry Tale: True Love Finds A Way
Yes, I read “Her Christmas Rogue” in the limited edition of A Very Matchmaker Christmas. So I’m thrilled that now with this enhanced and expanded version, I was able to revisit this story once again and experience even more of the magic she brings to Trent and Winnie’s HEA.
I heartily encourage readers to come along on this beautiful journey with Winnie and Trent. From the start, a sweet friendship formed between Winnie and her brother’s best friend, as he found warmth and love in their home throughout the years, rather than that of his own cold and structured family. It’s such a joy to immerse oneself in the world this writer creates, and escape for a few treasured hours with her amazing characters. I’m especially fond of her wintry tales, where the depth of her scenes and settings take the reader to an enchanting yet genuine world. Filled with romance and holiday spirit, and a few bumps along the way, it doesn’t get any better than this, if the reader wants a warm and cozy read.
I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion. I have also pre-ordered for my Kindle library, and highly recommend you add “Her Christmas Rogue” to your collection!
Her Christmas Rogue was a sweet Christmas book and a perfect book to read on a cold day with a cozy blanket. Four friends were concerned their daughters would never get married, so they decided to play matchmakers for the Christmas holiday and have a house party. Lady Winifred “Winnie” Grisham had fallen in love with Lord Trent Ballantine and decided the night of her Come Out she was going to marry Trent. Trent’s family was not close, and he was miserable when he had to spend time with them. He had become part of the Grisham families’ holidays, but this year he didn’t plan on spending it at a house party full of ladies looking for a husband. Over the years Trent had started to recognize that Winnie had become a woman, but since she was his best friends’ sister she was off limits. Winnie was determined that he notice her this year. Trent felt like he didn’t deserve Winnie as he was the second son and had little prospects. He’d also acquired a rogue’s reputation and Winnie’s brother was not happy at his interest in Winnie. Can have Winnie and keep his friendship with James? This was a great holiday romance and Winnie and Trent were perfect for each other.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lady Winnifred Grisham has been head over heels for her brother’s best friend almost since she met him. Too bad he is an unrepentant rogue who would never dally with an innocent miss. Especially troublesome since Winnie wants him for a husband not an affair.
Second son of a stiff, icy marquess, Lord Trent Ballantine found refuge within his best friend’s family on school holidays. But now he’s noticed his friend’s sister Winnie as a beautiful woman rather an a tag-along younger sister. Trent loves Winnie enough to know she deserves better than the likes of him. This year Winnie’s mother is eager for a titled match for her daughter at the annual Christmas party of a friend, leaving Winnie with only a few days to convince Trent that he is all she needs.
This was a sweet, enjoyable read and it was lovely to see two people who love each other fighting to be together.

My review :
When friendship’, love’ and family’s bounds are tested, is choosing one will damage the others …
With this short fast pace tale, Mrs Christi Caldwell again her talent to draw stories with tension and characters trying their strength and will.
Lady Winifred Grisham has been in love with Lord Trent Ballentine as long as she can remember, even if she knows he only sees her as the little troublesome sister of his best friend.
Still she has reached the point when enough is enough, when she realizes Trent might be attracted to her too, she decides to talk some sense into him.
As the spare, Trent had tried to win his family’s affection, but having been deemed not worthy of theirs, he always was judged as not deserving enough. He finally took the opposite road, shocking them as much as possible.
It is for the first time among Winnie’s kin, he feels he has found his place, that they care for him.
Why he is so reluctant to follow his heart, not ready to test and maybe loose his only true friendship with Winnie’s bother.
It was a lovely story of two persons who do not seek society’s approval looking for wealth and rank but love and acceptance.
5 stars for this charming tale of resilience.
I was granted an advance copy by the author, but prior to it, I preordered my own.
Here is my true and unbiased opinion.

I read this a few years ago & I enjoyed this new “enhanced” version even more! It is a lovely & sweet Christmas romance with a honorable rogue to swoon over & a feisty heroine to tame him. Lord Trent Ballantine is a handsome, second son & has the reputation of being a rogue. His parents have never shown him much love & Trent has spent holidays with his best friend, James, the Viscount Munthorpe’s family. The family included James’ younger sister, Lady Winifred “Winnie” Grisham, a feisty, smart, outspoken lady who has been in love with Trent from the first time she saw him. Trent has always thought of Winnie as his little sister because of all the time he has spent at her home in the last 11 years but recently he realizes, she has grown in to a lovely young lady. Winnie, who is now twenty years old & has had 3 seasons is being forced by her mother to marry but she only wants Trent & must figure out a way to tell him how she feels. Will she get her point across to him, will honor stand in the way of him courting his best friend’s sister?
I was gifted the Advanced Reader Copy of this book & all opinions are my own & have been voluntarily given.
