The last thing cowboy Wade McCoy expected when his beloved billionaire granddad died was for him to require Wade to marry in order to keep the vast McCoy Ranch that they both loved and built together. But that is exactly his granddaddy’s requirement: Wade was to marry within three months, stay married for three months or he lost it all, for him and his brothers. He didn’t like it one bit, but one … one thing his granddaddy knew about him was that Wade never let a challenge get the better of him and he had no plans to lose the ranch he loved. His granddaddy had him over a barrel, and he knew it. Now he just had to find someone to go along with this crazy idea. Allie Jordon was desperate. Every bad piece of luck that could have befallen her had done so and now, after losing everything, including her sweet father, she needed funds to get her mother the best care available or she just might lose her too. A chance meeting with a lonely looking cowboy at the truck stop she was waitressing at could change her life¿if she says yes to an absolutely off-the-wall proposal that could be the miracle she’s been praying for.

Nearly 4* for me – and this really isn’t my “trope” at all. Well done!
So – I have studiously avoided any Million/Billionaire trope novels (like the plague) thinking they would simply follow the script of the content lacking/high drama The Bachelor/Bachelorette broadcasts on television – and for me, No thank you! Yet, for whatever reason, Her Billionaire’s Fake Marriage (HBFM) showed up in my tbrs as I scrolled through looking for a new title – something quick, light, and uplifting to ease me out of a couple dark, intense titles I had just completed. Imagine my surprise when I discovered HBFM absolutely perfect for what I desired and not at all what I had presumed. Lesson learned – apparently there is a wide range of drama and content level within the one trope of – “Getting/Winning/Marrying the Billionaire”.
Allie Jordan/FMC, in her mid 20’s, has been experiencing a number of personal tragedies, the culmination of which has her eventually working double shifts at a truck stop in Texas to try to make ends meet. Wade McCoy/MMC, 34, is the grandson and co-heir to a 1000+ acre oil-rich cattle ranch, as well as a successful vineyard and a multi-state hotel chain. Wade’s grandfather has just died and left a Will stating Wade must marry within 3 mos, and remain married for at least 3 mos, or he loses the cattle and oil property portion of his inheritance. Wade is devastated. He has worked alongside his grandfather on the ranch his entire life. They had always talked and planned toward his owning it someday. Now this. One day as Wade concludes ranch business near the end of the 90 days, he stops at a nearby truck stop for coffee. It finally hits him that although he has tried to comply with the contract, it has defeated him. Even while coerced, he is has been unwilling to propose to any of the women he knows, any he ever previously dated, and so he is about to lose everything he treasures. Wade takes a seat inside the diner and Allie brings him coffee. She recognizes the grief in his face and in his composure and understands that others fight their personal battles as well.
I have not previously read any Hope Moore titles. Her Billionaire’s Fake Marriage was a pleasant surprise – I enjoyed it. It was a Clean and uplifting “Fake Marriage” and “Together we can Make it” type story. The Billionaire aspect was present but didn’t subtract from my pleasure of reading or from the reality of the plot. I could imagine a head-strong rancher demanding such requirements; it felt possible. At times, the internal thoughts of the main characters felt repeated more often than necessary. But the flow of the dialogue, the storyline, the description of the settings and knowledge of the area, the characters’ feelings – all just “clicked.” I have now looked at other titles by Ms. Moore and will, surprising me, probably pick up at least one other title (in this trope!) that interests me.
I recommend Her Billionaire’s Fake Marriage to readers who enjoy HEAs, sweet stories without a lot of angst (which simply exhaust me & cause me to roll my eyes) but rather have heartfelt and positive vibes underlying the story – plus, Her Billionaire’s Fake Marriage happens to be Clean (for those that care).
READER CAUTIONS – None. This is a Clean read.
IMO, this story is appropriate for nearly any reader – 14 yrs and up. No violence, profanity, or sexual intimacy at all – just sweet kisses.
Her Billionaire Cowboy’s Fake Marriage by Hope Moore
McCoy Billionaire Brothers Series Book One
Wade McCoy and his brothers just lost their grandfather, as if that wasn’t shocking enough…his will floors them. J.D. McCoy left stipulations that if Wade didn’t marry in three months…and stay married for three more months…he’d lose the ranch that he loved as much as his granddad had.
Allie Jordan’s life has been going downhill and is showing no sign of slowing down. And then while waitressing at the truck stop, everything halted and evened out. The miracle she’d been praying for came in the form of a forlorn cowboy.
What a great story! I loved it. Definitely have tissues nearby if you cry easily. I can’t wait for more books in this series.
